This is a very good book for younger children. It is sturdy and is packed full with facts and tid-bits about each state that is listed alphabetically. It is colorful and formatted well for children to follow.
It shows pictures of the states, their flags and many animals that are associated with the state. I lists captials, the number of state it is in order of joining the union, nickname as well as state birds, animals, gems etc. There is also a small paragraph covering additional unique information.
Kids absorb a lot of ways, this is way to help them learn and get them reading too.

This book was published in 2014, and I think the age group that the book would be best for is 1st-3rd. This is an Informational Nonfiction book.
I paired this book up with Flat Stanley because I though it would be neat to have the children read America's 50 States and discuss where they have family members living around the world. As a class we could read Flat Stanley and make our own Stanleys and send them to out family member around the US. Family members would be able to send pictures of Stanley visiting the different sights that the state is known for (EX: the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and Disney in Florida). This will give the children real photos of the places America's 50 States book talks about.
