I love books about dancing, even though I'm not a dancer. I just find the blend of passion and discipline the art requires so utterly compelling. I can only imagine the mastery it requires one to have over their body, the exacting precision, and the endurance it takes to be on one's feet for hours, contorting one's body in time to music, while staying on the beat. I can't help but admire those who can dance, and well. That's why I always come running if I see a book about danc
Tsuzuki Shinya. The name of two successful ballroom dancers - one specializing in Standard, the other in Latin dances. The Standard one aims to be World Champion, and as such needs to conquer Latin dance as well, so he asks the other one to help him. He accepts despite himself - he doesn't have any great aspirations, really, but as they practice together at some point he starts to get serious too. And the two Shinyas dance very well together..

It's the first volume, and (almost) nothi

First of all, if you're a big fan of professional dancing, let me go ahead and say I strongly believe you'll enjoy this more than I did. It's clear that the creator knows what they're talking about, as there's a lot of detail spent on both the technical details of dance as well as the world of professional dancing competitively, and the impact that world has on its residents. I was impressed, but it was overly detailed sometimes to the point where it fully removed me from the story, and that wasn't en ...more

This romance is too slow a waltz for me. The dance scenes are low energy, the two guys have little chemistry, and after a full volume they are so deep in the closet that they have made little to no progress toward starting a relationship or even realizing one is possible. I wouldn't avoid a second volume, but I won't seek it out either.
Two words: Fucking. Sexy.

I'm a sucker for dancing, frilly dresses, and BL. So far, this is the story of two competitive ballroom dancers. Since they specialize in different types (standard vs latin), they begin to teach each other in preparation for the international 10 Dance competition, where they will be competing in both types. One MC is serious, witty, and a bit contentious. The other is audacious, passionate, and charismatic. As things get hot on the dance floor, adoration for one another builds, leading to confus ...more

I'm so glad I picked this up! The art is amazing, the story is realistic and flows so well. The attraction develops so naturally ant a comfy slow pace without all the gross problematic trips from most BL series. Can't wait for vol 2!
19.12.2016: The cover actually looks better in the flesh.

The attraction between the two Shinyas isn't really palpable yet. But I love a slow burning relationship so I'm going to be patient and wait for the next volume and see what happens. The dancing is georgous, though and the artwork is something that needs a little getting used to, but it's quite refreshing.

11.12.2016: I'm not sure about the new (and final) cover...
Meet Suzuki Shinya and Sugiki Shinya. Two names, so very close together, yet their personalities will clash a lot in this gorgeous dance manga.

I just couldn't resist checking this one out when I found out about it. A dance manga? One with mxm coupling? Um, hello? Where do I sign up?!

What happens when two amazing dancers decide to pair up, or at least try to teach each other the skills they are amazing in. For one that is Latin dance, for the other that is waltz/standard. It may work

I believe I am reading this the wrong way.

Before I picked up this manga, I must admit that my expectations were quite high. After all, I am a big fan of Welcome To The Ballroom by Tomo Takeuchi (both the manga and the anime). But despite the high expectations, I was looking for something quite different from 10 Dance 1. And that's where I made the mistake. When I was reading Welcome To The Ballroom, I am just looking for the spectacle that was pure ballroom dancing. For 10 Dance 1, I was expecting more from the rom
I loved the art in this one and I enjoyed the characters a lot. The focus on the dancing was a bit too much for me (I do think the dancing would work beautifully in anime) but I still liked 10 Dance!.

I just hope that the relationship between the two main characters will be explored and will evolve more in the following volume.

Personally felt the story was bland and the drawing is awful

I'm a sucker for ballroom dancing stories and this one has strong characters plus pretty and dynamic art working for it, there's no way I wasn't going to enjoy it.

Gave up on waiting for Carlsen to publish 10Dance beyond volume 2 so I ordered the English publication by Kodansha Comics. My review for this still stands though.
*****Obligitory part where I mention that I recieved a free copy of this manga via Amazon Vine*****

The first volume of any manga usually functions as little more than an extended pilot; by the end, I should know all the major players and their essential goal(s). 10 Dance does the second half, but doesn't necessarily accomplish the first. 10 Dance is essentially the story of two dancers, both masters of their respective style of dance, who agree to train each other in their signature

This is a pretty cool manga that is very far from the normal stuff I read. There's no supernatural elements here, everyone is human and neither of our main characters are in high school! Whoooo!

In the world of ballroom dance, Shinya Sugiki is god. He's won the triple crown a ton of times and he's trying to becoming champion in the 10 Dance Competition, but standard ballroom is his bread and butter. In order to win, he has to master the other half of the 10 Dance, the Latin style. He

In this first volume, we are introduced to two very different but world class dancers, each with the same first name. Shinya Sugiki is a very traditional and old fashioned uptight ballroom dancer. He is elegant, precise, and composed. Shinya Suzuki, on the other hand, was born in Cuba, is half Cuban, and dances Latin with passion and fire. Most of the first volume is about the clash of styles and how each handles their personal lives.

I hesitated for a long time before getting this manga because I worried that it would read like a dance instruction manual, but I was wrong. It simmers with sensuality. Every page is bubbling with sexual tension between the two leads as they learn to dance each other's styles for a competition they both want to (separately) take part in.

Secondly, I flipped through this manga in a bookstore and thought it didn't really look like yaoi. I was wrong again. So far volume 1 is filled with

I have to say that this is a solid first dip for Kodansha as they start to liscence and release both Girls' Love (Yuri is My Job being their first) and Boys' Love (10 Dance and Hitorijime: My Hero) titles.

In recent years, most Boys' Love manga has come from ViZ's imprint SuBLime with titles dotted in Seven Seas and Vertical's overall release libraries, so it's nice to see competition in the field! The characters feel less like tropes in a Boys' Love manga and more like actualized people, which

Two men - one the master of classic ballroom dancing and the other of Latin dance, learn from each other.

I'll probably pass on a second volume of this series. I understand that there's supposed to be chemistry between the two men and that it's drawn that way. However, I also judge a relationship (even a budding one) on the verbal interplay and there was zippo chemistry there. At least at this point, these two men do nothing but snip and snark at one another. That's not a turn on for

I was super hyped for this manga. The premise sounds intriguing and the cover looks amazing. I enjoyed the slow burn, the depiction of dancing, and the two main leads. However, the development doesn't flow well, and things were moving too slow. I love the romantic trope of 'hate to love', but I don't think it was dived into enough. I yearned for more clashing and more passion, so I hope the second volume will deliver. It was a bit lacking, but I still had fun. I am looking forwa

Totally plays the “rivals to friends” trope all the while building romantic tension between the two leads. I love queer romances especially ones that begin as friendship first so this book definitely caters to me.

Also, not being a dancer or a dance fan...after reading this I was intrigued to look up the dances in this book on YouTube. So this book also sparked an interest in its subject matter.

Will definitely be checking out further volumes!

Fantastic art and the fact that I found this at my local library made it even better. To know that LGBT+ are making it into the library system makes me so happy! I wasn't a huge fan of the characters or the story really, but that's most likely because this kind of story isn't usually my first pick. I would recommend it though to anybody looking to get into BL manga at more of an adult age without all the sexual stuff.

This is A LOT. I think I died from secondhand embarrassment while reading it to be honest BUT it does hit a sweet spot for people looking for something that might fill the Fence or Check, Please! shaped hole in their reading lives. (But I do think that this one reads older if for no other reason than because the characters are all adults.)

Wow! This was a fantastic opening volume. The artwork and the conversation flow are superb and, at times, hilarious. It’s so nice to read a mature BL - at least the genre seems to be getting with the program that the plot doesn’t always have to revolve around angsty high school boys, one childhood friend with unrequited love, or college shenanigans.

Many of the dance terms were difficult to follow, but the characters had an interesting chemistry and dynamic. The plotting of the timeline was also a little wonky. I'd still be interested in checking out the next volume.

I love manga about dancing.
The art to this is so unique, but in a good way. I really like it. The story is also very good. I haven't read this in ages so I forgot a lot of stuff. I'm so glad I got a chance to buy this.
