Featuring various animals native to the regions or countries where certain languages are spoken, this board book offers youngsters and their caregivers 14 different ways to say hello. The pages offer a natural setting, the name of the country and the greeting as well as the word or words in parenthetical spelling so nonnative speakers can learn to say the words correctly. At the end of the book, there are "Where am I from?" questions. Even though knowing how to greet someone might not get you very far, it's certainly a great starting place and just might be the start of a beautiful friendship. Just almost everyone that I know loves to be told "Hello!" in his/her own language.

This is a short children book about how to say Hello in different languages. The book has a different animal and place on each page with how to say Hello in that place in language in a word bubble. The book also shows the animal and some things in the pictures you can find in each place. The book is short and sweet but the pictures are very detailed and well drawn. They look to be done in color pencil of some sort. They are precise and each page is very detailed. The pictures give away some facts that are not even said in the book. For example in Italy's page it says "Ciao" for hello and then has pizza, the flag, spaghetti, and other things that represent Italy.

A bit of a let down. It's only hello in different languages (the countries are told in the background and pronunciations given). Wish there would have been a little more of each country represented. Good idea, not great follow through.

The text is simple "hello" + phonetic spelling in several different languages. The illustrations allow readers to engage with artefacts of the place where the language is spoken. I did not recognize all of the animals, but the last page names all the animals and languages. Enjoyable read!
