5☆+ A Must Read, A Poignant and Compelling Page Turner

Love Punked is a eye opener into the ups and downs of a teen mum.
I was fully absorbed and couldn't put it down. It was like I was living Erin's life alongside her!

I wasn't sure what to expect from Love Punked. The cover is beautiful and drew me in. The blurb is intriguing.
But what I found was a real life portrayal of a young girls life. It was Raw, intriguing, emotional and inspiring.
Young Adults will 100% be able to relate to this story.

This book should come with a warning...that you will laugh and cry in equal measure. I laughed at home, on the bus, in cafes and on one sneaky occasion when I needed to know what happened next; when I was meant to be working. The second to last chapter had me in floods of tears. For anyone who knows me this rarely happens. I've only ever cried at one film and that was (spoiler alert) Bruce Willis' death in Armageddon - romcom books never result in tears. All this waffle is to explain just how go ...more

The lovely Nia allowed me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I will be honest the first little bit was hard for me to follow. The language different from what I was used to. I kept reading because I wanted to give my honest review.
This book had me laughing and absolutely crying at the end. It was wonderful!! It explores how hard life as a teenager is. The mistakes made. How life changes. People move on. I was truly rooting for Erin and heartbroken for her on so many occasions.

As if teens don’t have enough to deal with growing up, what with school, puberty, peer pressure and the like, but adding sex to the mix usually makes it that much more complicated. Now imagine if your first time resulted in an unwanted pregnancy?

Well, our protagonist in this story decides to go through with it and discovers a life she never anticipated and yet she is determined to make it the best life she can and she takes readers along for the ride.

Despite the obvious teenaged themes, I would

I was very fortunate to be asked by Nia Lucas to read and review 'Love Punked'.
Slightly different to my usual reads, however after reading the synopsis I was intrigued and wanted to read more!

Blimey! I was gripped! Constantly trying to fit in a few pages where I could... This read is highly addictive, down to earth and very funny and although it is based on a very serious subject of Teen pregnancy the humour and one liners Nia brings to the story is simply faultless. Lets just say I cannot look

I’m really not sure how to begin this review or even finish it! The cover gave me a slight inkling what it may be like to read Love Punked but it still didn’t quite prepare me for the style of writing or content. I’m of an age where I remember where I was when ‘Punk’ was at it’s height so I thought the story-line would be based around that era.

Basically it’s a group of youngsters with Erin at the helm finding their way through life. Some are more wayward than others and Erin finds growing up jus

Love Punked is an emotional drama with light-hearted moments. It is set mainly in the 1990s and features the lives of teenager Erin Roberts and her friends.

The book opens with a prologue from 2003; Erin is on a flight to New Zealand to meet Daniel, the boy she’s had a crush on since the age of seven. But Erin’s life path to reach this point has not been simple. The story then turns the clock back to 1995 when Erin learns that her crush, Daniel McNamara, is leaving for New Zealand. Amidst a humil

When Nia got in touch with me to see if I'd be willing to review this book, I was immediately excited as I read the blurb above. I was interested to see how she would handle such a difficult subject matter in what sounded like a jovial and playful text and what else would befall Erin Roberts. From the first page, I was hooked. Nia's unique writing style is easy to read and hugely entertaining, meaning I flew through it. I awarded this book a massive and undeniable five star rating and I am dying ...more

Love Punked is a book that draws you in, holds on tight and takes you on a roller coaster journey through the trials and tribulations of teenage Erin Roberts' life. With memorable references to the 90s that will bring a smile to your face before making you laugh out loud, the author perfectly captures the scene. But it is with her well-drawn characters that she will really steal your heart. Erin - Ginger Feist - has a unique way of dealing with anyone who threatens her status quo: attack, attack ...more

Was I expecting this book to make me so emotional? No, I was expecting emotion but not the journey this book took me. This story is about Erin's life, it has the good, the bad and the ugly and that's life really, so of course this book made me emotional and it felt real. I could relate to the characters in some aspects and my heart broke for her in certain scenes.

It was a journey for me as a reader because it was following Erin's journey. It was captivating, and it had this coming-of-age feel co

I was a teenage Mum, I fell pregnant with my first son HM on my 17th birthday and gave birth to him three months before my 18th. The first few chapters of this could have so easily been my life, the crap experience of popping my cherry. The discovering I was pregnant. The bullying at school. Feeling like a pariah whilst I was pregnant, and then as if I was an exhibit after HM was born. Most importantly that knowing I was going to have my baby from the moment I knew I was carrying a life inside o ...more

Love Punked gave me all the emotions! We follow our main character, Erin Roberts, as she goes through life after giving birth to twins when she is sixteen. From there, it’s a fantastic emotional rollercoaster that had me laughing, crying, angry. I fell in love with Erin and her, I don’t really care what others think, attitude. She’s such a strong character and watching her mature and grow as a character was one of the most wonderful things about this novel. Nia Lucas’ writing is excellent! She c ...more

I gave myself a week to read Nia Lucas’s “Love Punked” and ended up finishing in two days—that’s how invested I was! This story is so beautifully written, I couldn’t help but feel genuine compassion and hope for the protagonist as she faces the trials and tribulations of being a teenager and a mother. As an American reader, I didn’t fully understand some words and phrases, though this only added to the amusing nature of this story. If you need a good laugh (maybe even a cry or two) then this boo ...more

It was impossible not to get completely and utterly caught by this story and the genuine, wonderful characters. The humor, wonderfully-done dialect, fun slang, and fully realized world were just icing on the cake of this well-told, beautiful story. The only frustrating aspect for me as I read was that the real world kept intruding and I couldn't just sit and get entirely lost in this book from beginning to end.

Beautiful, hilarious and moving love story with characters that came alive to love, hate and understand....... An excellent story that kept me enthralled with its clever plotlines and empathy. Written with kindness and insight that touched me and made me think about what really matters. Nia Lucas knows her stuff.... Would recommend , or even insist you try this book!

This is a story about the ups and downs of being a teen mum. It is relatable in areas and I new quite a few people who became teen mums. It is funny but also emotional in parts and I found I quite enjoyed the story overall. I wouldn't say I would read more books like it but I did enjoy reading it as a change from my usual genres.  Of course there were parts of this book that I didn't really enjoy reading but in the end it was a worthwhile read. It's a great coming of age story that is emotional, ...more

Relatable and hilarious

There is such a good tone to this book. The MC is so funny, kickass and relatable. There are parts that make you cry, and parts that make you laugh out loud. You'll be cheering and crying and hoping everything turns out alright. Such a good read.
