Becoming Mr. Bingley

Letting the man of her dreams go would have been much harder had he been a real person. Living happily ever after with her soul mate would be much easier if reality was as uncomplicated as her dreams. And for Elizabeth Baker, the future would be much clearer if the lines between dreams and reality were not blurring yet again.

Ahhh! While I didn’t love BMB as much as I loved DMD, this book was still so fun. There are some sad, dark moments in this one and Miss Whitman tackles incredibly difficult subjects so well. This is a rom com with the typical frustrations that could be eliminated if the characters communicated better - so if that’s not the trope for you, be warned. But for me, it worked perfectly. I fell in love with Samantha Whitman’s debut novel Ditching Mr. Darcy and was anxious to see what she’d write as a follow-up. I was so excited that she not only brought back several of the characters from the first story, but set it in present time. I felt this set Becoming Mr. Bingley apart from other P&P inspired stories.

The story was captivating, the characters had such depth and (as with the first book in the series) the humor was spot-on! If you’ve yet to read a novel by Samantha

Becoming Mr. Bingley (BMB), while ultimately a good book, was a train wreck of a story. One bad thing after another barrles its way into Elizabeth’s life at times when she’s completely unequipped to handle them.

Ultimately, BMB is an excellent example of why it’s so important to maintain an open line of communication in relationships. Elizabeth makes far too many assumptions and believes just about anything anyone tells her, except Charlie.

It’s also a great example of everything that can go wrong
