Afterall she went home with him and someone saw her leave his house around five am. Jenny doesn't believe it for one minute and this causes a rift between her and Sheriff Adam, her boyfriend. Then there is the discovery of the skeleton remains identity, and the medical marijuana dispensary that the Newburys are trying to start. The rest of the town is set against it. Can Jenny find out who really killed Heather's boyfriend? She does find some very interesting facts about him, but is it enough to clear Heather's name? You will need to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Amanda has her hands full in this delightful installment of the Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery series. She has to prove one of her best friends is innocent and find who killed Mrs Bones aka Lily. The town is in an uproar about changes one of the leading families wants to make. And things are heating up in several relationships. Lots of intrigue, good food, and great characters. Another hit
I was hoping that the writing style would get better in the second set of cozy mysteries from Leena Clover, but sadly, I feel it may have gotten worse. I want to love this series, I really do, but sometimes I really just want to slap the MC, Jenny.
Jenny King is a grown woman who often acts like a petulant teenager and fights with her sheriff boyfriend because he won't let her investigate crimes. Seriously, you would think the woman would understand that the police can't just give out details willy-nilly, no matter if that's the person they are dating or not.
Speaking of Adam, he's a sheriff with a bum leg and a bad attitude. I want to like the guy, but he has some seriously major character flaws. He doesn't seem to get what makes Jenny tick, and often does things backwards.
As someone who lives in Virginia, I question if this writer has even been to the Eastern Shore as the characters drive to and from Pelican Cove to the Virginia Beach oceanfront like it's only fifteen minutes away (spoiler alert, it's not.)
The only saving grace is the fact that the mystery aspect is pretty good, and some of the background characters are much better than the main characters. I just wish the dialogue wasn't written so poorly.
Fabulous. Great plot with some nice twists and turns, although for me the culprit was obvious about halfway through. A lot of broken hearts but joy too as we catch up in the lives of the characters. Things have settled down and the girls have arrange a triple date even though they really don't like the smooth, oily doctor. However when he turns up dead and Heather is the last person to have seen him, she is hauled in for questioning. As things start getting more dire for her, she starts looking into the doctor's life. Fraud, marriage, misdiagnosis, new identities, the disappearance of his first wife all raise flags for her. However trying to get Adam to take her seriously proves hard. Heather is an emotional mess as is Jason after being dumped whilst Molly is heartbroken her Chris's mother takes against her. Can she clear Heather's name? Is her aunt falling for the new artist in town? How will Jason and Molly cope? How long will Adam stay at her house now his is repaired? Will her relationship with Adam move into a more solid footing? Is the body in the garden Lily and if so who killed her?
Heathers's boyfriend Dr. Gianni Costa has been murdered and Heather is the numner one suspect. Jenny is postive Heather didn't do it and decides she will have to find proof that Heather is innocent. She will also have to find out who is guilty and be able to prove it. How will she accomplish all this? Who will help her? Will the DNA results come back on the bones found in Jenny's garden? How will they find out who comitted that murder? Who is the new artist in town? He seems to be taking a shine to Star. The Newburys want to set up a medical marijuana dispensary. The townspeople are against it. Who will win this arguement? There is a lot going on in Pelican Cove. The story is well written and you will be able to keep everything straight. Jump on this ride and come along with Jenny and her friends as they work to prove Heather's innocent. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
Ok, so we haven't been too pleased with Heather since the last book, but now she is facing a murder rap, and Jenny is doing all she can to help find the real killer. So many "facts" just don't add up, and Jenny is determined to get to the bottom of it all with or without Adam's help!
Life continues for other familiar characters as well with a lot of seemingly fickle romances happening in Pelican Cove. This is one of those series you definitely need to start at the beginning and read in order, otherwise a lot won't make any sense to you. So if you are new to this series, pick up a copy of Strawberries and Strangers and start at the very beginning. Pelican Cove is a wonderful place to visit!

A lot is going on in this book and the storyline was great. The characters were true to form with Adam being a bit less churlish towards Jenny.
Heather is accused of murdering the new doctor in town who she happens to be dating. Jenny of course is determined to help and surprisingly Adam okays it, with a bunch of conditions of course. Jenny is also trying to figure out the identity of the skeleton that was found in her garden. There is more, so much more.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
In book 5 of this great Cozy Mystery Series set in Pelican Cove , Heather is still online dating, when she meets someone local, the new local doctor. Pretty soon she's smitten with him, but not everyone is happy about this.
When the doctor is found dead, Heather is arrested for his murder, so once again, Jenny has to look for the killer so Heather doesn't spend her life in jail!
Jenny is still trying to find out who the skeleton is, the one found in the garden of Jenny's new home. Can she bring some news to a member of their group and solve a mystery which is years old?
These are good cozy mystery stories, easily read in a couple of hours. Best read in order as the same characters appear in the books. I'm looking forward to the next book, but I'm having to make myself stop reading them so fast! They're well worth a read.
Another winner. I've been binge reading this series, but now I'm going to take a break , not because I'm tired of it, but because I want to digest everything I've read so far concerning the town and people. Heather, one of Jenny's friends, is the chief suspect of the murder of Dr. Gianni. Jenny and friends have to prove Heather is not the murderer. Of course, this isn't the only topic of the book. There are always one or two other problems going on in the book. Leena does a great job tying up everything at the end.
I'm back in Pelican Cove and man this place is going crazy! 😵 Everyone has got a secret and some secrets are killer! Little Miss Heather (who I don't like) gets knocked down a few pegs and goes crying to Jenny for help. Jenny has her hands full trying to solve the Mrs. Bones case (spoiler alert: it gets solved!) and dealing with a new man in Aunt Star's life. But of course she helps a friend when their in need. A surprise almost engagment, a breakup and a shocking ending made for a GREAT BOOK!
Pelican Cove is knee deep in murder once again, with our heroine, Jenny, trying to solve the case and keep her friend out of jail. As always, there are multiple storylines which keep Jenny busy! Good addition to the Pelican Cove series. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes “clean” mysteries, to read about people who care about their friends and neighbors and wants a great story! I was provided an advance copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an unbiased review.
Started out well, devolved into drama queen vs police
Jenny's investigative successes reminds me of a rat terrier with a bone. She makes a great deal of noise until all eyes focus on her, and then prances around displaying her juicy bone to one and all. Greatly enjoyed the first 70% of the book, but then... Plot development suddenly seemed rushed and haphazard as if the book had to be finished in record time. Will not continue to follow this author. Disappointing.
I enjoy reading a good cozy mystery or even better binge reading a good cozy mystery series. The recurring characters in this book/series are an interesting lot and the setting is great.
In this story centering around the Valentine Holiday, the romantic relationships rival the murder investigation for page space.
This is a good, clean, romantic, cozy mystery. I have been binge reading this series and I am anxious to begin the next story.
Oddly written story. First off, the mystery was convoluted & then solved way too quickly. Then the characters are acted so strangely towards each other, it was really distracting. Plus, Jenny & Adam are completely mismatched. They argue constantly and blow each other off. It would be fine if they were teens, but these people are past forty.
I have really enjoyed this series until the last chapter of this book. Trying not to spoil ....I personally found it irritating that the question would be asked to have Jenny leave the wonderful house she just moved in to and obviously loves. Why does she have to choose? It bothered me to the point that I have chosen not to read book 6.

I like most of the characters except Adam. I don’t understand how she likes this guy that is always yelling at her. He’s so up and down. It’s very hard to like or empathize with his character. I hope she doesn’t end up with him
What a cliffhanger ending. Will Jenny and Adam ever get together. I sure hope so. This book catches Heather as a murder suspect and Jenny working harder then ever to prove her innocence. We also have the murder of Lily to close. Lots of twists and turns
Another great installment in the Pelican Cove Series. Loving the development of the characters. Lots of twists and turns when Jenny tries to clear Heather's name and find out who murdered her doctor boyfriend. An enjoyable cosy mystery read.
I love the series of stories and the characters that the author has put together in this story of mystery and intrigue. The author has a wonderful way of telling her tale.
Book five and I still can't wait to see what Jenny does next if you're like me and love a great cozy with characters you will love and a storyline that will keep you turning the page then this series by Leena Clover is a must read
This s series is especially fun because I am from a Delaware. I love the characters ... have become my friends. And the mystery keeps me guessing until the end.
I love these cozies involving Jenny. The storyline are intriguing with an awesome cast of characters. This book is recommended for those who love cozy mysteries.
Love the series I feel like I am friends with all the charactures ..Leena., captures you and puts you into the setting, to the point you get wrapped into the story .
Definitely enjoyed reading this book in the series. This is a really good read and the characters are interesting. I recommend the series to anyone who likes to read mysteries.
Another adventure with the Magnolia Girls, Jenny, Heather, Molly and the men in their lives. More murders, as Jenny, the middle-aged novice super sleuth have even darker secrets in store. Pelican Bay has many more stories to tell.
Another surprise ending or rather, a couple of surprise endings. I like the turn of events for the couples that are involved all except for Jenny and Adam. I hope that resolves the way I want it to!! I guess I’ll have to keep reading the next book to find out!!
As I said in last review, I do not like giving 3s because Amazon 3 to them means bad not okay, but once again repetitive filler going over almost completely the same things, and assume the next one will, too, though if it does again, I will drop it to a 2.
Jenny's friend Heather has been accused of her boyfriend's murder but who is Dr Gianni Costi?? The evidence is mounting up against Heather bit Kenny is determined to prove her innocence and with her friend Jason they find a can of worms.. Twists and turns galore. Entertaining read
