Plagiarized, poorly written, and frustrating from beginning to end.
I try really hard not to give bad reviews, because I recognize how much of someone’s soul goes into writing a book. However, this is one of the most obnoxious books I’ve picked up in years. Here’s why:
1. It plagiarizes Tony Robbins and several other habit and mindset experts with almost no shame. The author does mention Robbins as his hero, but then has no problem claiming systems Robbins made famous in Unleash the Power Within as his own, almost word for word.
2. The author’s own story is compelling and I am sure worth reading. Unfortunately, he crams it all into a handful of boring pages in the introduction and then spends the rest of the book regurgitating other people’s work.
3. There is little compassion, empathy, or recognition of his own privilege. It’s a classic: I am white dude who had a bad childhood, so I completely know what everyone else is going through scenario.
I think the story of Burn Bootcamps is compelling, should be told, and would be worthy of. Book. But it isn’t here. What’s here is both poorly written and a blatant mishandling of other people’s work.
A couple good thoughts in the beginning but i really disliked the style of writing and how many times he referenced “in this book.” He was still introducing the book halfway through. And then turned to a sales pitch for some nutrition company at the end.
This book is a must read & Burn Boot camp is a must try! Both have changed me both physically and mentally! This book is one I will read and read again! Two claps! 👏👏
This book reinforces my decision and current mentality to want to continue on my fitness & health journey at Burn Bootcamp Mt Pleasant, WI. I started day one on Sept 30, 2019 and Im down 40 lbs and have many NSV's since! I didn't like when you bashed Keto and the other new or fad diet/lifestyles because Keto is what worked and stil works for me to help shed the pounds to make it easier to work out and want to stick with it. Isn't your purpose to help people find what works for them? Overall, I liked all of the advice and motivation. I can relate to the childhood family dynamic and have overcome many adversaries to get where I am today. Thank you for your continued support, as this pandemic has not been easy. Burn Bootcamp has surpassed my expectations as a gym...I found a second family!
A worthwhile read. A little unexpected, a little more of what we already know. But overall an earnest, tough love approach that is fresh and empowers you to pave your own path toward health, fitness and life goals.
I absolutely cannot say enough great things about this book. MUST READ!!!! Absolutely life changing, so HONORED to be apart of Burn Boot Camp for 1.5 years+, cannot imagine my life without it!
I liked the message of the book, but you could definitely tell it was his first book when it comes to writing. I definitely had some great take aways from the book, but I wouldn’t say it was life changing.
This is a very good book to read when you are at your lowest part in fitness. He actually opened my mind to things I never imagined and gave really good advice. Some parts were very opinionated but what book isn’t… it is going based off of what he has learned. I loved how real he kept it.
