Plagiarized, poorly written, and frustrating from beginning to end.
I try really hard not to give bad reviews, because I recognize how much of someone’s soul goes into writing a book. However, this is one of the most obnoxious books I’ve picked up in years. Here’s why:
1. It plagiarizes Tony Robbins and several other habit and mindset experts with almost no shame. The author does mention Robbins as his hero, but then has no problem claiming systems Robbins made famous in Unleash the Power Within as his own, almost word for word.
2. The author’s own story is compelling and I am sure worth reading. Unfortunately, he crams it all into a handful of boring pages in the introduction and then spends the rest of the book regurgitating other people’s work.
3. There is little compassion, empathy, or recognition of his own privilege. It’s a classic: I am white dude who had a bad childhood, so I completely know what everyone else is going through scenario.
I think the story of Burn Bootcamps is compelling, should be told, and would be worthy of. Book. But it isn’t here. What’s here is both poorly written and a blatant mishandling of other people’s work.
