New York Times bestselling author/illustrator Nick Bruel's naughty feline is back in the holiday adventure Bad Kitty Does Not Like Thanksgiving.
Kitty does not like Thanksgiving. Kitty LOVES Thanksgiving. Specifically, Kitty loves turkey . . . and will do anything to get her paws on it. So, Kitty comes up with a plan but in perfect cantankerous cat fashion, can’t quite pull it off and ends up with the turkey (and all the fixins’) on her head.
Nick Bruel is the New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of children's books including Bad Kitty, Bad Kitty Gets a Bath, Bad Kitty Meets the Baby, and Boing!, among others. Nick is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist, and during his down time, he collects PEZ dispensers and grows tomatoes in the backyard. He lives in Tarrytown, NY with his wife Carina and their lovely cat Esmerelda.
Bad Kitty likes the turkey at the Thanksgiving meal. He has a plan to have the turkey all to himself and not share it. All of his plans go a rye. The mashed potatoes and the string beans fall on his head as he is trying to get the turkey off the table. Next the turkey falls on poor bad Kitty. He doesn't like turkey, nor does like Thanksgiving.
There are so many things that Bad Kitty doesn't like. But she especially loves--not likes--Thanksgiving since it features a succulent roasted turkey, which Kitty looks forward to devouring. The rest of the food offerings set out on the table have no appeal for this cat, who has her eye on that turkey. Despite her human companion's warnings, she makes a mess of the meal, diving into the green beans and pulling the mashed potatoes off the table. Her antics eventually cause the turkey to fall and Kitty to sustain quite an injury from the heavy weight of the bird. Fans of the series will love this one, and be excited about having stickers of their beloved cat. The last illustration in the book spells out volumes since it features a begruntled and injured cat and takeout containers on the table, clearly a last-minute substitute for the meal that was ruined by Kitty. I simply adore Bad Kitty with her mischievous ways. She reminds me of so many cats that I have known.
Bad Kitty does not like Thanksgiving, except for turkey. Bad Kitty loves turkey....but he's not supposed to have it. This is a picture book addition to the Bad Kitty series. It is outrageous and comical as improbably endearing Bad Kitty makes a mess of Thanksgiving. A cute one to share with Bad Kitty fans this holiday season.
Bad Kitty tries everything he can do to get the turkey off the table. He ruins all of the other things on the table and then once he gets the turkey it is in a way that makes him not want it anymore. So where as he started out liking Thanksgiving he ends up not liking it. A cute story about wanting something too much and then learning it might be better to wait for it and on/in better terms.
Thanksgiving is all about turkey for Bad Kitty. She doesn’t care about anything else. That’s why she doesn’t LIKE Thanksgiving, she LOVES Thanksgiving. But the problem is, she wants the turkey all to herself. One plan after another to get the turkey goes awry. And when she finally does get the turkey, it’s not in the way she had hoped. Ka-Thump!
This was our first, and possibly last Bad Kitty book. My son did not think it was funny. At. All. Apparently neither did my husband. My son asked me to return it the day I checked it out from the library. I obliged.
This is a really cute, entertaining book about how terribly things go awry when Bad Kitty tries to steal the Thanksgiving turkey! It’s a short, quick read. This is a holiday favorite of my 5 year old’s!
Bad kitty is trying everything he can to eat the Thanksgiving turkey but keeps destroying other Thanksgiving food dishes. Will he ever get the turkey? Cute. Preschool and up
I LOVED this hilarious story about bad kitty trying to steal the Thanksgiving turkey. The children laughed and it was short enough to share with my littlest patrons.
That was adorable! I have only read the first Bad Kitty so I was expecting an ABC list but this one seemed much simpler. I usually complain about picture books being too long but I almost wish there were a few more foods included in this one. But still, such cute and an easy read for beginning readers.
