Five Amazing Stars

I was so absolutely thrilled to receive yet this most wonderful amazing tale I just could not put done even once. Written by my most favourite author around, Melissa Toppen!

Everything is is exactly the same. Waking up once again after Laken has been living away for the four years in the city called Los Angeles. Laken has returned to her families home, the ranch. Leaving this ranch years ago was a complete dream to herself until the big city regretted her altogether. Co

I really loved this book! It had everything you look for in a love story. I really liked learning about Laken, her dreams & determination to become a successful actress. I loved that she and Thad had instant chemistry and an attraction that couldnt't be denied. How we learned more about Thad as their story progressed and their history when they were kids. I liked how Melissa took a different take on childhood friends. I loved seeing them bring out a "happiness" in the other. I loved that family ...more

Creative writing suited to high-schoolers

I think I was done with this writer after the last book of hers I read, so I'm not sure why I chose this. I have nobody but myself to blame.
Possible *spoilers* ahead.

Every annoying romance trope one could think of, wrapped in contrivance and topped with a bow of clichés.
That covers the bulk of it, I think.
In addition, the book was riddled with errors, mostly in the form of incorrect words. This writer has published too many times for such mistakes to b

Completely roped in from page one as I always happens with this author. I loved this story and all the feels it gave me and the complete emotional escape it offered me.

*I am on Melissa Toppen’s review team for my honest opinion*

Just like her other books, I couldn’t put this book. The main character, Laken, sucked me right in from the beginning. I found her character likable and wanted to know more about her. She was relatable in aspects of having to recalculate your life a little bit. She didn’t let it get her completely down. It was just a set back for her.

Of course, there was a love interest that just happened to be living right on the ranch her family own

Melissa Toppen is one of my go to authors! With every book she puts out, her writing just gets better and better! Laken and Thad have a lot of back and forth. They were friends as children and then Thad moves away. Years go by, what happens when they both are in the same town again? Pick up Force of Nature and find out!

I love Melissa Toppen. She drags you in and keeps you there. Her writing, and pace are typically spot on as well as her descriptions and the people. I felt the connection to the farm though I had a bit of time feeling the bond or connection with these two main people Yes, it slowly gets better though it is still a struggle for me. I also thought at one point the heroine is very repetitive. She was also a bit back and forth as well as Thad. Will they won't they, should they shouldn't they? I’m no ...more

"No matter how hard I try, I simply can't shake the spell Thad Mitchell seems to have cast over me."

One of my favorite things about reading romance is watching the characters fall helplessly for each other when neither one expected, planned, or maybe even wanted it to happen. Now this story? Was all that, but with me screaming at the characters, huffing and puffing at each angsty, frustrating moment. Because you see, things are not always perfection, couples are not always escorted to true, unma

Force of Nature was a story that I couldn't help but to read in one sitting because my emotions wouldn't allow me to put it down as I needed to see how it all panned out. And to be clear, my biggest emotion was rage in this instance. But let me start from the beginning. It starts out with Laken coming home for a bit to take a break from trying to kick start her action career, as she wasn't making any headway, and she was broke. She finds Thad living at her parents, working for them at their ranc ...more

This story begins with Laken coming back home after leaving 4 years ago from trying to make it as an actress in Hollywood. So she’s back on the ranch with her Mom, Dad and 5 brothers.
But that night she notices a blue-eyed stranger sitting at the dinner table with her family. Thad Mitchell who is actually someone she knew from her childhood.
She is instantly attracted to the handsome stranger. They begin to get to know each other again. But the attraction i

Melissa has become one of my must read authors. I have devoured each book of hers that I have read and this one was no different.

Laken has to be one of my favorite heroines that I have read in a while. She is likable and incredibly relatable to so many women in many different ways. She moved away to pursue the one dream she has always had before hitting a snag and having to come back home. That's where she found someone she had never expected to see again, Thad.

Thad and Laken knew each other when they were just kids, and Thad pushed her off the wings and broke her arm. Their dads were best friends, but they ended up moving away. He's been forgotten, but he's not out of her life anymore. When she sees this beautiful man sitting at her parents house when she arrives for some down time, shes enraptured by him. When she realizes who he is, she isn't really sure why he's there and she certainly isn't happy about it. Laken is an actress and things aren't goi ...more

Melissa Toppen has done it again. She created this story that just sucks you and pulls at your heart left and right until you realize that she beautifully put it back together without you realizing that your heart broke right along with Thad and Laken. Thad and Laken fell so real like you are right there with them on this journey of healing and acceptance. As we learn about Thad your heart just pulls for him. I was a little hesitant to read this based on some reviews I read, but I am glad I did. I quite enjoyed it for the most part. I liked that both the hero and heroine had their own issues they had to work on, and that just happened to lead them to each other maybe at the worst possible time. The only thing I would change is there was A LOT of back and forth, with the hero dramtically pushing the heroine away over and over. (view spoiler) ...more

An absolute must read story! This book intrigued me by the blurb and I had to devour the book. Once I started I couldn’t stop until the very last page.

An emotional rollercoaster. Real life issues that hurt your heart. This story is deep and it will consume you.

The story is mostly told in Laken’s POV with a few chapters of Thad’s.

Laken is home in Wyoming from LA after having a hard time making it but she’s holding out that the next script is the big one. She hasn’t been home in a little my tim

Toppen’s newest full length, standalone novel Forces of Nature is a love story about an actress returning to small town life and a farmer intent on escaping his past. Laken returns home to her family full of farmer boys except there is one more man sitting at the table she didn’t expect, Thad. Thad is running, trying to escape his past that landed him back in small town life. Only when Laken appears there is a reason to stay, rather than run. Only will she stay?

Omg!!! So darn good! These characters are amazing, they are both so strong and yet so vulnerable at the same time. The writing is don’t in such a way that you won’t be able to stop reading. Ugh....I could talk about this book all day. It is heartbreaking, gut wrenching and raw, it is everything I look for in a good book and it was an absolute pleasure to read.

Laken is a small town farm girl who has always dreamed of being an actress and moved to LA to peruse who dream. Except when she gets there

As a reader one of the things I enjoy is the journey the characters take me on. Each road taken is different than the next. Some are quicker while others wind and turn and pull at my emotions like Force of Nature did.

I loved Laken's character and how determined she was to go after her dreams. A free spirited soul she knows what she wants out of life and small town life isn't it. Thad intrigued me from the beginning. There's nothing that pulls me into a story more than characters that aren't per

A love story they never saw coming. What would you do for the one person you love most? Would you walk away and let them grow and find their way in the world. Let them grab most what they want out of life and never get in their way? Would you be able to give them up completely or need to get your fix when you could? This is an incredible love story showing how two people come together at time when they needed someone the most. It’s also about heartache and becoming the stronger person for someon ...more

I am a super fan of Melissa Toppen. That being said, I always go into her books with an open mind and give a fair review based on how the story, writing and characters make me feel. Force of Nature is another great story by Melissa.

Laken and Thad have a history that has been forgotten until Thad ends up back at Laken’s family’s ranch. He’s down on his luck and needs some stability and Laken’s family gives her that. I love the way their story developed. It was not over the top but believable. Th

Love when i can connect to a book and characters.

I really enjoyed this book. Not only do I love Melissa's writing but I felt like this book most people could connect to. Laken the female character lead is a strong focused woman trying to reach her dream of becoming an actress. And as she finds out nothing is as easy as you think and sometimes life takes funny turns and you have to go through some hard times to get to the happy times of your life. one of those hard times as life is when she has t

If Laken and Thad's love story were made into a movie, it would probably make "Twister" look tame. These two sizzle like bacon grease on a hot skillet. But theirs is not an easy story, and the author does an outstanding job of holding the characters true to their natures. This love story doesn't get a simple Hallmark Movie mom
