Alisha Rai returns with the first book in her sizzling new Modern Love series, in which two rival dating app creators find themselves at odds in the boardroom but in sync in the bedroom.

Rhiannon Hunter may have revolutionized romance in the digital world, but in real life she only swipes right on her career—and the occasional hookup. The cynical dating app creator controls

I knew before I was even halfway into this book that it would be receiving five stars, and holy hell was I right. This book did not hold back any punches and it offered such a profound story about powerful women of color that also was so touching that I was weeping throughout the last 20% of this book.

My list of things I enjoyed about this book is vast compared to a nonexistent section of things I didn't enjoy. I'll try and write a brief (read: long) list of things I adored about this book.

First, my excitement for this story knows no bounds.
Buuuut, kind of disappointed they went with drawing cover, I LOVED the Forbidden Hearts series live model cover photos; really some of the best covers I've ever seen.
I see others really liking the fun vibe the cover does send out, so I'm going to go and stare at my Livvy and Nicholas cover to work through my feelings.
Friends, what you thinking/feeling about this cover?

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this digital ARC.
While I have been rec'd Alisha Rai a handful of times, this is actually my first book of hers that I'm reading. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The cover suggests that it's a cute romcom style story but it's a lot more than that. There is diverse representation across the board with the MCs and supporting characters. Rhiannon is a strong and tough character who can hold her own in the boardroom as well as the bedroom. Samson is mo

This book ended up being an enjoyable read but for most of the beginning and a little into the middle of the story, the story was slow and the romance was too hot and cold for me. I felt like the hero was paying for shit he had nothing to do with and I wasn't a fan of that. I did love that the hero was Samoan, just like me, so that was great so while I enjoyed the book overall, I didn't LOVE it the way that I hoped.

Alisha Rai’s Forbidden Hearts trilogy was a very angsty, heartfelt set of diverse romances that I really enjoyed and when this book was announced, there was no way I wouldn’t read it. And getting approved for this ARC made me all kind of giddy and I’m so happy that it was all I expected it to be and so much more.

Rhiannon is an extremely whip smart, successful entrepreneur who comes across as abrasive and cynical but she has good reasons to be so. Being a black woman has never been easy for her,

In a thoroughly contemporary take on 21st century dating, Alisha Rai takes on the lingo that have slowly but surely become entrenched in dating-speak— ghosting, hooking up, dick pics, one-night stands, casual relationships, swiping right—and waves a story around it, along with the cynicism, the bouncing around and the jadedness that come along with the reality of finding the ‘right’ match.

From a hookup to a ghosting to a meeting as business rivals, Samson Lima and Rhiannon Hunter meet again whe

The Right Swipe is one of those romance stories that I just couldn't get enough of, and I want more that are similar to it!

I think what makes this book really strong is its characters. Rhiannon is all about female empowerment as well as race & gender equality, and I absolutely loved it! She didn't back down in the face of adversity and was always ready for the new challenges that were thrown

This was everything. I’ll write a more thorough review later, but I love Rhi and Samson. Like, can someone conjure me up a Samson? Just saying.

I basically stopped breathing when I pulled this out of my bag at KissCon and I still want to cry thinking about the fact that I've not only read this masterpiece, I also got it signed by Alisha Rai?! My life!!! Of course, I then proceeded to embarrass myself in front of her later, but we're going to pretend that DID NOT happen.

Anyway, this book is abou

I won't lie: upon reading the synopsis and finding out this is a second chance-ish story with a guy that "ghosted" her I immediately became upset on the heroines behalf and questioned the book.... until my hypocrisy gave me a little tap on the shoulder and reminded me that *I* ghosted someone in highschool... and that if he hadn't later taken me back we wouldn't be married now! So let she who has not ghosted cast the first stone? LOL

If you're looking for a diverse and fluffy romance, look no further.

Rhiannon runs the fictional equivalent of Bumble, after leaving a toxic boyfriend and frat boy environment behind at the Tinder-equivalent where she worked before. She's massively successful, afraid of commitment, and always wants to be in control. I really liked Rhiannon, and I'm always down for romances where the women are hard-asses who fear commitment and the men are sweet cinnamon rolls, which is 100% the case here. I did t

The Right Swipe is timely, modern, and takes surprising turns with a second chance romance. Indeed, second chances in myriad forms really make the backbone of this book. Fun concept and full of heart - add it to your summer reading list.

I’ve really been feeling romances lately, and this one did not disappoint! The story line was a little predictable, but still super cute. The ONLY reason I withheld the last star was because this was a little slow on the uptake...meaning it took a while to pull me in.

Rhiannon is our MC and she’s the CEO & cofounder of Crush, an app that sounds very similar to Bumble with its woman-

Coming off of Rai’s Forbidden Hearts series, I was ready for some angsty, dating sexytimes in the new Modern Love series. However, Rai changed up the dynamics of this book, creating a second-chance, slow-burn romance between Rhiannon and Samson, two capable professionals approaching 40 (if you like competence pr0n, get yourselves this book). I was 100% here for the emotional work the couple does to overcome their own baggage, with excellent commentary on the effect of the #metoo movement and the ...more

I really liked this one. The characters were all so well drawn out and the story was complex enough that it held my attention throughout. It was interesting to read about the world of app dating, and I love Rhi’s drive to conquer the world. 4.5 stars from me!

I received a copy of this through Edelweiss and I'm glad I decided to pick it up. It's not the conventional romance. It dives into tons of topics and issues: leadership, harassment, mental illnesses, and so much more. It was so well done. Definitely worth reading. It's empowering to read as a female. It also discusses issues women minorities have in the workplace, among other things. I want to read more by Rai.

Smart Women Read Romance
3.5 Stars

ARC provided by NetGalley for an honest review

This book had all of the ingredients for an epic tale of dating in the modern world dominated by dating apps and the pitfalls that come with it. As a person who constantly struggles with dating in the world of ghosting and *cough* eff-boys, I was really excited to see how this second-chance romance would unfold. By the end, I mostly felt like it was an "ok" read, but that emotional connection to the main character was missing on my end. I

The Right Swipe really took a long time to connect with me. If it wasn't by Alisha Rai, who I love, I might not have gotten past the first third of the book. I had a difficult time connecting with Rhiannon, the extremely wealthy and successful but prickly and defensive tech queen with commitment issues. As the story goes on, the reasons for her issues, as well as for Samson's issues, becomes more clear, and they become more relatable. Once I finally started caring about what happened, I tore thr ...more

As a lover of romance, I'm almost ashamed to say that this was my first time reading Alisha Rai. I'd heard so many good things about her, and I wasn't disappointed. The Right Swipe has a very interesting premise and strong, likable characters. Samson is a former pro football player currently serving as the spokesman for an online matchmaking company. Rhiannon is the tough CEO of her own dating app, looking to buy another company to prove herself even more. The cover art makes the book seem like ...more

This is my first Alisha Rai book and the first book at Netgalley I wished for and actually got! So, I dove straight in. Based on the cover I expected a romcom, but this book is actually a lot more than that.

Rhiannon is a real business woman. She owns 'Crush', a dating app with millions of subscribers. Her plan is to buy a rival app 'Matchmaker'; owned by the Kostas sisters but the visionary sister has died last year. She then finds that Samson Lima, football star, is pushed forward to represent

I really enjoyed this book. It's a strong contemporary rom-com. It's not realistic, I don't think, it employs a typical rom-com formula in an online dating setting, while touching on a number of issues including race, ghosting, #metoo, concussions in football, and the software industry. I

had fun reading it, but I didn't get particularly attached to the characters. The relationship between Samson and Rhiannon felt kind of hollow, but perhaps that was just me. Rhiannon and Samson were good charac

I appreciate this book so much. It is very much of this time, not just dating apps but it kind of digs into what justice looks like in some current situations, namely brain injuries in the NFL and workplace sexual harrassment. It's not as romcommy as the cover makes it seem. I don't love love this book because rich icy ambitious workaholic women are just not my faves, even if she did work super hard for everything she has. The book does put her through the wringer in the best possible way, thoug ...more

Rhiannon Hunter broke her own rules when she agreed to meet for a second night with the sexy ex-football player she met on the hugely popular dating app she created. The same man who completely ghosted her, proving she should stay with her one and done rule.
