So A Princess's Duty was a bit of a mixed bag for me: There was stuff here that I really loved and other things that for me let this down.
So I have thought on this quite a bit before putting pen to paper mainly because I didn't want to give out the wrong impression: ultimately I did enjoy this but I just had some slight issues that bothered me slightly.
So I will try and articulate where I'm at while still trying to keep a lid on proceedings.
So my first overall impression I took away here

First, let me start of by saying what I've already said before, This cover is to die for. Absolutely stunning!
And people, this is where it ends for me.
A Princess's Duty was an ok book.
I felt myself drifting off into space feeling a tad bored. And the other times, I was confused because to be honest, I felt the story was kinda all over the place.. everything was happening...if it wasn't one thing or then it was the other. 'Convenient

Sloane Murphy is an author who has caught my attention on numerous occasions, with The Immortal Chronicles leaving me more than a little bit curious and desperate to read. When the chance came about to read A Princess’s Duty, I opted to start my introduction to Sloane Murphy through the Of Fire and Frost series. After all, a good fae story – especially one labelled as ‘dark’ – is sure to grab my attention.

Unfortunately, I found A Princess’s Duty extremely difficult to work through. It’s a short

My first Sloane's book. I love reading about the world of Faes, so it was only a matter of time when I was going to read it. The writing style is something I had to get used to, and as the story progresed, heroine seemed to be rather fickle in

Wow, I really have no words for how desperate I am for the next instalment in this series.
A Princess’s Duty has left me with more questions than answers and I’ll be damned if I don’t lose what’s left of my sanity. All I can ask now I’ve finished reading is...why? I can’t tell you what I mean, or I’d spoil the end for you, but when you read those last few sentences, you’ll understand what I mean.
This book was everything and more. But it also wasn’t enough. I need to have the next book ready to

Reviewed on,
What a great start to a new series, in book one we follow Emilia a princess of the Summer Court. Emilia’s life is unbearable after her twin gets killed after the King of the Winter Court encourages the darkness inside him, and Cade kills him to save his younger brother Rowan’s life. Emilia thought the entertainment at the Winter court was bad, but that his nothing compared to the way her parents start to behave after her twin’s death. Emilia has wanted no part

This one surprised me. I liked Em and really wanted to see how this story was going to unfold with her. Her strength was enviable, considering what she had been through. I wasn't sure who she was supposed to trust and that went all the way through to the last page. I'm on pins and needles to see how this story plays out and if Em and Cade can find their way to a HEA after everything that's happened.

Ok well that was unexpected.
I really didn't think this was my type of book, well I have been proved wrong.
I really want to know what happens next.
This book kept me glued I seriously could not put it down, I got so invested in the characters and was even rooting for a couple of them. Although I was not expecting the twist at the end.
I do not want to leave spoilers so I will finish here but seriously you need to read this book .
I definitely will be reading the rest of this series.

Wow the cover of this book dragged me in, it’s just stunning, but the author is definitely what kept me hooked and reading.

The best way to describe the way this book flows is a snowball. It starts off with a slow burn but eventually becomes an inferno. I wasn’t completely sold on Emilia but as the book continues I grew attached to her. The love and hate I felt for characters was so very Sloane’s style and, in true Sloane style, I knew there was a twist coming but I didn’t see that specific one

Before I get into my review, here were my reasons for reading this book:
- Thatgorgeous cover. I am obsessed with it. The fierce profile with the flames justwork.
- I am nicknamed the Faerie Queen. This is for a reason. Because I love everything fae. Obvs.
- Forbidden love between a royal and a non-royal.
- What is a Hunter? Is this a human hunter? Is it a special sort of fae?

So I had expectations, and I had questions.

But here's the thing... it didn't work for me, and I could sense that pretty

DNFed at 47%. I tried, really. I thought I could get through it since it's not a very long book, but it was making me too annoyed. The characters are very flat caricatures and the writing is extremely juvenile, which is jarring because it seems to be trying to be dark. The attempts to show how cruel and dark they are come off as comedic. It felt like a first draft you'd read on Wattpad. I really like the cover however.

Paranormal isn't my go to genre, in fact I've hardly any experience reading so it took a bit of getting into and I did get lost a few times.. that said I did enjoy this book in the main. There were parts I didn't enjoy but this was I'm pretty sure deliberate to make you have certain feelings for particular characters. I warmed to certain characters more than others.
Then... the ending... wow totally unexpected.. A sure fire way to hook you into book 2 lol !!

I'm new to the writing of Sloane Murphy, and this paranormal book has an interesting premise!
Unfortunately this story just wasn't my favorite, and I'm not sure if I'm in a book slump or just being too critical, but it didn't work for me.

The prologue was very interesting, and it really grabbed my attention. It was a great introduction to the main characters, and a little of their history. Emilia Daarke is of the fae, a royal of the

This was my first book by Sloane, and I think she did quite a good job of this story, centered around the Seelie/UnSeelie Court - the last book I read that had this in really blew me away, so this story had a lot to live up to!!

Its a bit of a roller coaster of a ride, it starts off quite slowly and builds slowly until it explodes in chaos and carnage and ends in a hell of a cliff hanger!!!

Emilia is the heroine, a princess in the Seelie Court, she sort of gave me whiplash at times with the way

This is the first book I have read by Sloane and I loved it. This book is dark and nothing is as it seems. These are Dark Fae and there are always alternative motives involved with them. Emilia life changed one day when the boy she could have loved, Cade, killed her twin. Now years later she is going to be forced to compete for the chance to be his queen. Her father is holding the man she currently loves hostage and doing who knows what horrible things to him to get her to agree to compete for ...more

This is the first book I've ever read of Sloane's. It's the mention of the fae that drew me in! And I wasn't disappointed! Whew what a page turner that was! I love the writing style, it was so easy to get into. I love the chemistry between both Emilia and Oberon, and Emilia and Cade. I was actually torn about who I wanted to ship her with. I love how gory and dark it was in some places and how heated things got in others! I REALLY enjoyed the twists; and that cliff hanger at the end? Oh. My. ...more

I have never read a book from theis author before now but the blurb caught my eyes and I am glad it did..the story is crazy twisted, with a darkness that leads the characters to commit unspeakable's in their nature, yet Em doesn't want to have anything to do with it..until she has no choice.
I admit some of the characters's choices left me a bit perplexed but I am sure there is a reason for each of them..
I will be patiently waiting for book 2 because after that ending I need all the

Wow what a book and that ending!! I wasn’t sure of Emilia’s character at the beginning she annoyed me a little but she is starting to grow on me , I love everything to do with this genre and Sloane’s representation makes me love it just that little bit more her books never disappoint! Please hurry with the next one I needed yesterday, a must read for 2018

Fast paced, action packed pnr. This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it! I have so many questions that need answers though.....about the fae themselves and their powers, the hunters, Emelia's past, Cade, Rowan, Erion and dark and violent their parents are. Oh there is a whopping, jaw dropping cliff hanger I never saw coming looking forward to part two and more books from this author ...more
This book is a drama filled love story with a surprise ending you will never see coming. Two royal families of Fae (Fairies) are at war and it falls to Emilia to make peace. Sloane Murphy makes you really feel for some of the characters and absolutely hate others. I can not wait to read Book 2!!

I was very kindly offered an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I have given this 3 stars!

Let me start by saying what a gorgeous cover this book has!

This is not my first trip in Sloane Murphy's world, so I am familiar with her style of writing but the draw of "Fae" characters was too much to resist.

However, I realized this story featured similar themes to the ACOTAR series, so I thought I would be in for real treat. However, by the end

I had the great honour of reading an ARC copy of this book.

First of all OMFG

This book is absolutely amazing. It will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and have you wondering who to love and who to hate.
The main female character Emilia is strong and feisty which made me fall in love with her from the start, although there are times in the book that I wanted to slap some sense into her, hug her and tell her that everything will be alright and also be her best friend. She

It took me a little bit to get into this book as it's a not my normal romance but once I did I devoured it.
It had a few twists and turns and kept me interested throughout.
I can't wait to read more from this series.

First of all, I really loved that cover. It was the first thing that grabbed my attention and the synopsis had me sold because I'm total sucker for dark fae romances. Well, this book has great potential but it fell short in execution. I really want to love it but it has flaws that I couldn't ignore. It felt like it was written in a rush. The plot was underdeveloped, the romance seemed rushed, and the modern accents in a fantasy book was a bit

Em and I have a rocky relationship. At the beginning of the book there were several times I wanted to reach into the page and just yell, “Fight for yourself!” I wanted her to stand up for herself. I wanted her to fight, not just for Oberon but for herself. She felt so lost and I just wanted her to see that she could be so much more. The move to the Cade’s palace was good for her in so many ways. She had to face her grief, something that isn’t pretty but is needed in order to heal. She learned to ...more

A Princess's Duty is not the typical read for me, but overall I really enjoyed it. I usually stay away from Fae stories, but I absolutely love the covers of this authors books (they make me want to read them) and I have been meaning to give her a try for a while so I said why not? And jumped right in. I am glad I did as it was fun.

I was so excited to learn that I was chosen to receive an ARC from Sloane Murphy! I've been looking forward to this one ever since I've read the synopsis.

I'm such a picky reader when it comes to paranormal or fantasy books, and if you'll check out my Goodreads profile or my blog, you'd see that most of them are contemporary romance... but I do indulge myself in some fantasy reads once in a while as long as there is romance in it. What? I'm a huge romantic sap!lol
