What a wonderful addition to the Warren & Dragon books. The part that I enjoyed the most was that not just one type of family is represented, it is important for young readers to see families that are not just the typical "nuclear family" in the books that they read. My kids and I look forward to reading many more books in this series.

Warren and Dragon want to raise money for a volcano toy set that spews lava into the sky, but Warren tells his twin Ellie, unthinkingly, that they are raising money for "charity." Then, the situation snowballs to the point where the whole neighborhood gets involved in a bake sale for toys for the children's hospital. Warren learns a little bit about kindness and selflessness, despite the fact that Dragon substituted cotton balls for marshmallows in the cookies - so he could eat the marshmallows, of course. Another fun book in the series, full of snarky humor from Dragon.

Warren & Dragon really want a volcano building kit, but they don't have the money. As they think about raising money, they stumble into misunderstandings and soon they are helping to raise money with a bake sale and a magic show in order to buy toys for kids in the hospital. Warren still thinks he can take money from event for his own purpose, but when faced with some tough decisions, he realizes that he wants to do something for somebody else instead. This is a funny story, although there was a point partway through when Dragon did start to wear on my nerves. Overall, though, a great early chapter book.

A perfect read-aloud or read-together! Early chapter books are my favorite kind of kids' books--reading them together are some of our best family memories. So I'm thrilled about this new addition to the genre! We loved the first two books, and this one was just as great. I think of them as a classic chapter book with the irresistible humor of Calvin & Hobbes. I also love that they're equally good for both boys or girls. The set would make a great birthday gift for anyone in the K-3rd grade range.

Warren and Dragon is a great new series sure to please readers who are just starting chapter books. They are short and entertaining. In this adventure they are trying to earn money for a Volcano Deluxe Building Set. And what better way to do that than to hold a bake sale and perhaps a magic show. Can they figure out a way to donate some of the money to charity and still have a little left over for the volcano? Read Warren and Dragon Volcano Deluxe.

We are crazy about Warren & Dragon; I can't say enough about how clever (yet accessible) and funny (but not snarky) this whole series is. Kids will love Warren and Dragon's latest adventure (and will surely relate to their laser focus on getting the toy of their dreams). Highly recommend!

When deciding what to give my friend's second grader for Christmas, I chose Warren & Dragon--Volcano Deluxe because she'll love the humorous story and illustrations, especially since she and Warren are the same age.
