This book kept me on my toes but it also made me rather furious when something rather predictable happened - and people got hurt. Really hurt. Ugh. Unfortunately, the solution was also somewhat predictable sooooo... I was really torn. I loved the story on the whole and I really really loved our hero and our heroine but there were some twists and turns, well,...

William is a wonderful character and Sarah is just amazing. I loved how she dared reach for what she wanted, be it an improper encounter

This book was an intriguing mix of sweet and spicy. The romance between Sarah and William builds fast at the beginning, before their lives suddenly go separate ways. However, they eventually meet again under different circumstances and it is captivating to see whether or not they will reunite. The chemistry between the two characters is sizzling and I liked how the main protagonist, Sarah, was not your average simpering heroine. She has a little bit of bite and has a strong side that she rarely ...more

I love a book that makes me laugh. I really love a book that makes me cry. If a book can do those and give me other feels of the more, well, touchy-feely kind? It's definitely a five-star book! Erica Taylor's third Macalisters book, An Improper Encounter, excelled at giving me "all the feels" so intensely that I would give it more stars if I could.

This is the story of Sarah and William. Sarah is the eldest of the Macalister clan and grew up being the mother figure to her siblings -- including Su

***ARC was provided to me for a fair and honest review***

Overall rating: 3.5/5 I loved everything that happens before the pair reach London, then the story slows down considerably for me.

Heroine (Sarah): 4/5 She is the widow to an abusive man who never loved her. Now Sarah travels from house party to house party with her friend and sister-in-law Lydia, a widow herself. Sarah wants more out of life than what the ton can offer. She would love to become a midwife and help new life enter the world.

An Improper Encounter (The Macalisters Book 3)
By: Erica Taylor
5 out of 5 stars

The story An Improper Encounter (The Macalisters Book 3) by Erica Taylor is a historical romance book. It is a story that I loved reading just as much as the first two books in the series. It is set in a time that there are rules of society and how one lives their lives. To go against the rules can cause scandal and leave a permanent mark on a person. It is in this time period that Lady Sarah Hartford meets William Go

An Improper Encounter was another wonderful read by Erica Taylor. I have really enjoyed all of the books in this series so far. The author’s attention to detail is second to none, she really makes it so easy for me as a reader to imagine what I am reading – at times it is like I am watching a period drama. I really liked the storyline for this book, it was a little different to what I have read before – I thought the characters wer

An Improper Encounter is a refreshing and fun read. It is light and was engaging throughout. Sarah is a likeable, independent woman who refuses to conform to the expectations placed upon her. She struggles with her desire to be a useful and helpful member of society while also adhering to the customs of a woman in an elevated position. By default of birth and marriage, her goal is to rise to the highest levels of the ton. But when William Gordon walks into her life, she sees that her life can ...more

This was the first book by Erica Taylor that I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were well developed and the plot was good. The pace of the story did slow down a bit in the second half, but a lot of that time was spent resolving the different threads woven into the story. The only thing I would have liked was a little more closure to Lydia's part of the story- unless of course she's getting a story of her own. This book had some humour and it also has my kleenex warning, so bew ...more

This is such a delightful story. Romance and mystery are thrown together to make a great story. Lady Sarah has been widowed for three years and yet still wears the grey of mourning, not because she loved her husband so dearly but because it is the proper thing to do. Her mother died birthing the ninth child and Sarah has worked to raise the family. Her brother is married so she has no real home but on her way to see her siblings she is caught in a terrible storm with her sister-in-law, Lydia. Sh ...more

An Improper Encounter (The Macalisters Book 3) By Erica Taylor. This author has definitely opened my eyes and mind to taking a liking to historical romance. I was never a fan but this series has had me rethinking that for sure. Once again the author writes a story that I just sank into and didn’t want to leave. The female main character Sarah is one of my favorites this year. I love the back and forth with Sarah and William they draw you in and don’t let go. The author does a wonderful job of wr ...more

Overall, I think it’s a good historical romance, but this book was too long. I think it could have been condensed a bit and the story would have still been good.

Also, there was so much drama that the romance definitely took a backseat, which doesn’t make sense when this is supposed to be a ROMANCE novel. And when the drama was finally resolved and William and Sarah FINALLY got together, it was with only 2 pages of the book left! So we end up not even getting a glimpse of what their life together

This is a well written story revolving around Sarah, a widow, and William, a doctor who later inherits a dukedom. They meet by chance at an inn, where Sarah’s friend challenges her to sleep tonight with a man she does not know. In walks William and the story starts. After delays due to bad weather, they develop an attachment to each other that is later tested. The story involves manipulation by his dying father, lies told by Anna and attempts on his life. The story is a good read and there is a ...more

An illegitimate son is returning to London and his father's death bed. On the way, he's in a carriage accident during bad weather. Seeking shelter at an inn, they have no shelter available. A widow overhearing the conversation claims he is her husband and they share a room for the night. From there their lives become more entwined and complicated. I wouldn't put this book down until you finish it. There are so many twists and turns, it can get complicated keeping up with the story. Nevert

Wow. Erica Taylor has done it again. It was such a long wait for book 3, but it was so worth it. Taylor has such a way with words. I found myself caught up in the whirlwind of mystery and romance. My stomach was in knots. I found myself wiping my eyes as I hurt and grieved along with these characters. Sarah was such an empowering character and her story left me feeling strong and capable of many things. Sarah’s journey was filled with trials and Taylor’s words pulled me in and I felt like I was ...more

Now this is a Victorian era book I can get behind. The genre has been done to death in my opinion. But I loved this one. It wasn’t at all what I expected and characters that you can like right from the beginning. With an exciting story line and a desperate longing for good things to happen to the main characters Sarah and William, you can’t go wrong with this romance. I smiled and laughed and worried, and the only thing I’ll say about that is that the HEA was so worth it. I’m now in a hurry to r ...more

Erica Taylor does a masterful job continuing her regency series and staying true to the characters already introduced in the previous series’ books. The writing style is full of wit, flawed characters, playful banter, a feisty heroine, and headstrong leading man. Familh continues to play such a large part in both main characters’ storyline development. Like Austen, the characters are prideful and bound to duty. And like Austen, these characters step boldly off the page and into your heart. Loved ...more

I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this series. The first two instalments were absolutely enjoyable and An Improper Encounter does not disappoint.
One can feel the heartbreak that Sarah and William go through. And the romance and intrigue take it to another level of delightful reading.
This is one series that readers can look out for.

This is a must read and is my favorite yet. I love how I get pulled into the story from the start and made to feel as if I am right there. The characters make the story engaging and page turning. This story is full of lies, secrets and misunderstandings. Sarah meets a stranger on a bet but what will happen when he shows up on her doorstep married with a pregnant wife? Will they be able to overcome what fate has thrown at them to find their HEA? I highly recommend finding out!

An Improper Encounter by Erica Taylor is the third book in the Macalisters series. This book can easily be read as a stand-alone although the whole series is well worth reading.
This book has to be my favourite so far. I loved the scandal of the hook, the secrets and the almost forbidden nature of it. I felt utterly drawn to these two characters and got lost in their journey so easily.
Erica Taylor has done a great job on this series so far and I cannot wait to see what else might be to come.

I have enjoyed their loved story especialy in the beginning. It was heart-warming. I did enjoy the book though there were parts that were disheartening, A promise is a promise... and he did not fulfill it (at least send a letter). I was kind of upset because she still is very civil and accomodating to him . The guy had the nerve to approach her time and time again (even after choosing duty over her and having a pregnant wife... oooppsss spoiler alert).

Anyway, it might be easy to guess what migh

An Improper Encounter by Erica Taylor. Amberjack Publishing, 2019.

After I started reading An Improper Encounter, the third in the Macalisters series about the Duke of Bradstone and his siblings, I realized that I’d read the first but not the second, so stopped to do that first. These three historical romances are engaging, all well written with characters that we easily like.

Widowed and childless Sarah, feeling sad and lonely, sets out on a dare to attract Gordon, a physician and fellow travell

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and Amberjack Publishing and and I am giving an honest review.
This book was a lovely gem of a book and I can honestly say I laughed and cried and cheered the Hero and heroine on. The beginning of the story at the inn and how the H and h meet is very humorous and had me craving a slice of chocolate cake on a noisy stormy night. I have read a few books by Erica Taylor and must say this book is one of her very best. The romance of Sarah and William was
