Oh, how glorious to learn something new while having things you know presented so well at the same time.  In 42 pages the reader will feel all the excitement of Eid (it doesn't specify which one, nor does it really matter), sharing your culture with your classmates, participating in a family tradition, cooking with your grandfather, sharing with neighbors, and learning some life lessons about diversity from the Quran.  Ages 5 and up will enjoy the story and seeing Eid being celebrated, and older ...more

This was a short and sweet story that would be good to read aloud to 1st-3rd grade students when a school does culture day or just learns about different cultures in class.

I wish the author included Bashirah's ethnicity and also where the food each student brought for culture day was from. Also, I didn't like the editing of paragraphs in this book. I know if I read this to my 3rd graders they will question why the author didn't indent :/
