So very, very basic. Most of the book is lined pages for you to practise and copy onto.

The book review for today is “The Art of Hand Lettering for Beginners:Beautiful Projects and Essential Techniques” by Joanna Munoz. This book falls in the genre of art and calligraphy.

Have you received a note and the person who has sent it wrote beautifully with what I call fancy writing? Enter this book.

It gives you:

-8 sample alphabets that gives you stroke by stroke instructions and a space to practice each set.

–20 projects that include thank you cards, wrapping paper, bunting and place cards just to name a few.

–Create your own alphabet that helps you creative your own style of writing to make it your own.

Each project gives you a list of items you will need to do it plus more than one method to do that project. The step by step instructions will get you started on your way to creating lovely items.

I thoroughly loved this book. As someone who has taken a calligraphy class to now expand it to a whole new level is exciting to me. The instructions are clear to understand. The fonts of the letters that you look at to practice are a nice size to where you can see what they are trying to show you to do. What was really nice is they have downloadable practice sheets that I can print out so I can practice as much as I want. That is on page 16.

I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Even if it has a good collection of great examples and I appreciate Stefan Kunz's art, the book itself doesn't do a great job of teaching lettering from scratch.
