I've been wanting to read a book by this author for awhile and this one looked like it would be a good summertime read. This one definitely held my interest but I do think some of the relationships the main character had with other people could have been better developed. It was hard to understand why Keely wanted to surround herself with so many self-involved people.

Ever since they were kids, best friends Keely and Isabelle have wanted to become writers. They were practically insepara

A light read, set in beautiful Nantucket, and just enough spice to give it some flavor. This is a perfect beach read!

Keely grew up on Nantucket with best friend Isabelle. They were inseparable, as close as sisters, and Keely was a tag along member to Isabelle’s family. Until a betrayal forced these friends apart. Now Keely lives in New York and is a sought after author. Suddenly her mother needs her and Keely must return home- to the island she escaped and the bitter remnants of a destroyed frie

What it's all about...

This book can only be described as the most perfect summer book. Isabelle and Keely are the best of friends. Both want to be authors. Isabelle comes from a wealthy family...she travels and seems to have everything. Keely is from a more normal working class family. The friendship seems to show a few cracks almost from the beginning...little flaws that Keely ignores because she loves Isabelle so much. Keely also seems to be more serious about wr

An easy going story about two girls who grow up on Nantucket and want to be writers. We follow then through school and first loves to parental care and childbirth. A poignant chapter about the retired mother needing help elevated the book.

This is my first Nancy Thayer novel, and I now get to go back and read all the others! This novel is set mostly on Nantucket, one of my favorite locations for a beach read. The story takes you through the relationship of two best friends, Isabelle and Keely, from childhood through motherhood. I loved Keely’s character and found myself annoyed with Isabelle much of the story.
Both girls dream of being a published author one day and finding long-lasting love. Like most best friends, they competed
I won this book on a Goodreads first reads giveaway.

First off, I have to start with saying I liked this story well enough...but I think the characters could do with some polishing.

This came across as more of a YA novel than something for adults.

I really liked the insight and background of what it's like to be an author. A lot of people seem to take the entire process of transforming an image in your head into an entire story and the brutal work you have to go through to publish it for granted. I

Yes, I did receive this book as an ARC and with that said I am going to be brutally honest about what I thought of this book. I also find (looking over the other reviews) that I may be alone in my opinions. The low rating may be because of my age or maybe my taste in books. But this is how I genuinely feel about this book.

I must say that I was very disappointed. I expected an adult novel and what I got was a young adult (at best) novel. I might even go as far as saying that this was a novel for

This is a wonderfully done book that will make the perfect beach read. Love them or hate them, the characters will make an impression on you and your emotions will be all over the place. This is the story of two girls from childhood through to adulthood and the journey their lives take. As kids they shared a passion for writing and words as well as a dream to become published authors. Some dreams are realized, hopes and desires change, relationships are strained but through all life throws their ...more

Nancy Thayer's beach reads are some of my anticipated books every summer and Surfside Sisters is her best yet (in my humble opinion)! Set on Nantucket (who doesn't love reading about Nantucket!!!!), we meet best friends Isabelle and Keely, who are really more like sisters. Over the years, their friendship has changed significantly and the story takes us back through why. With Thayer's signature charm and heart, we explore friendship, family, love and strength. The worst part about finishing her ...more

This is the perfect Summer beach read. It takes place in Nantucket (SWOON!) and it involves two childhood best friends named Isabelle and Keely. They have these dreams to become writers and life takes them on different paths (don’t want to give any spoilers). The story follows them from tween to teen to adults. I didn’t love Isabelle as a person but we needed her for the story. I was also rooting for Sebastian and Keely the whole time! This will definitely not be my last Nancy Thayer’s book. ⭐⭐⭐

Keely Green always wanted to become a writer, make it big, and leave Nantucket for good.
Will she finally get her wish or will life create alternate plans?
Keely's life seems next to perfect until everything comes crashing down.
The boyfriend is no longer, the job deal fell through, her life is tattered.
One bright spot her best friend Isabelle have been close for years. They have each others back or so she always presumed until that one day she walked away.

This was my first book by Nancy Thayer. I have another on my bookshelf and now I am dying to get to it!
Surfside Sisters was one of those books that is just a step or two above your average read. Thayer has done an incredible job of insinuating the reader into the lives of the two girls that started out as close as sisters and faced some incredibly difficult issues in their friendship as they aged. There were several difficult issues (love problems, parental death, parental illness, envy...) dea

Oh, Nancy, thank you for writing yet another (what I know will be) another bestseller! Within the first few pages I knew I would love Surfside Sisters and I was enraptured and engaged from page one to the very end! Your writing, prose and style, story-telling, and characters are just fabulous. Reading your novels is just so easy and enjoyable, and I am just 100% engaged when reading them. Surfside Sisters is a little different than other novels by Nancy Thayer, but don’t let that sway you... It ...more

First thanks to #NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this book. It's my first by Nancy Thayer.

When I started the book, I wasn't so sure I would get into it. But I read most of it in one day. The story is about 2 friends - their lives together, then when they weren't friends, and how they come back to being friends.

I didn't like all the characters. But they fix together and made the story work. This book will be a great "Summer Read".

I've always loved reading Nancy Thayer's books and her newest book, Surfside Sisters, ranks right up there with the best of them :) It's the perfect time of year to read a book set on Nantucked\t and the story was as compelling as the setting! Lifelong friends, family ties & commitments, hopes and dreams, disappointments, forgiveness, and coming full circle. Loved it!

This is my first Nancy Thayer novel but it certainly won’t be my last. While it started a bit slow for me the buildup was absolutely worth it . I loved following Keely and Isabelle through the decades as their lives developed. A perfect summer read . This book was graciously provided by the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Well, you'll love these two best friends. At times Isabelle got right on my nerves but Keely held hope for their friendship to endure. Lots of layers to these friends but you get a real sense of good people. I didn't totally feel Sebastian and Keely but it's HEA.

*****Surfside Sisters is a story about the ups and downs of a friendship between two women that began in childhood. Keely and Isabella were inseparable until high school. Both had a burning desire to write. Isabella’s family was wealth; Keely’s family middle class, plus Isabella had a brother...a beautiful brother that Keely has crushed on for years. Their relationship began to change in high school when the boy Isabella likes asks Keely out. Things really change once the girls get to their resp ...more

Nancy Thayer's love for Nantucket shines brightly once again in her latest novel, Surfside Sisters. And her ability to create an engaging story based there is just as bright a star. This perfect beach read is the story of the ties that bind Keely Green to every aspect of her world on the Island and how those ties guide her throughout her life.

That life consists of two major components: first, her parents, who love her immensely, as s

Keely and Isabelle were like sisters. Their time together as kids was sacred to them both. They both dreamed of being writers. They were close but there was drama as they grew up. I think most long term friends have dealt with growing pains in their relationship. Keely and Isabelle’s dramas were real whoppers though.

Let’s begin with the fact that Keely was kind of jealous of Isabelle. Keeley’s mom was a nurse and her dad a mechanic, there was absolutely no extra money and her parents worked a lo

Main Thoughts:
I love a good Nancy Thayer - she is one of my favorite beach/summer/feel-like-I-live-on-an-island author and this book did not disappoint. I enjoyed the arc of the book, I felt engaged for most of the text, and the plot felt new (and not like your stereotypical beach read).

That being said - throughout the whole novel it felt like something was missing. I love Thayer because she always does such a good job of developing the plot and her characters - and parts of the book definitely

Surfside Sisters by Nancy Thayer follows Keely and her best friend Isabelle through childhood on Nantucket where they both aspire to leave the island and become writers when they grow up, through college, and then onto adulthood. Along the way their ties are severed when envy takes center stage in their friendship (Keely got the novel, Isabelle the boy), and the girls go their separate ways. Keely finds life in New York, while Isabelle remains on the island to raise her new family.

When I'm laying out, enjoying the sound of the waves or sipping a sweet drink poolside, I love a good frivolous read. I like books that make me zone out, that let me be a lazy reader, that don't require a lot of involvement from my brain and emotions. Surfside Sisters is exactly that sort of novel, it meanders on at an easy pace with simple drama and a rather meaningless story line. We don't get too deep into Keely's brain, rather we see her go out about her day to
