World peace came with rules. We've just broken them.

The year is 2355. The deadly virus that killed millions of people is gone, thanks to the quarantine measures put in place by the Criterion, an alien species who appeared just in time to save the human race. In exchange for complying with their tough control measures, the Criterion promised us the technology for interstell

Before I launch into my review, I should state that I fully intend to read the next installment of this series. It was rough going for me at first, but chapter by chapter I became more enthralled with the story and the ending left me wanting more asap. I can't wait for the next one!

I was given a copy of this in exchange for a review and I was immediately intrigued because the premise reminded me of a couple shows I love- Colony and Fallen Skies. Once I started reading it, though, it wasn’t looki

Thus book is an interesting take on future Earth. I am interested in this type of novel where loyalties across species is conflicted and complex. The alien race that controls Earth is both benevolent and untrustworthy. I was very sympathetic to the young woman who is destined to be the figurehead for the human race. We see her struggle to avoid her enviable fate.

Set about 300 years into the future, Earth is unrecognizable. Humans are divided into the isolated communities they live in. The plot i

Earth Quarantined is a science fiction story set in 2355. The world as we know it has been saved by aliens called the Criterion. The remaining human race is under tough living conditions due to this relationship and as things have been going on for many years, Kethryn Miller, an actress has come in between them, wanting to expose things that may not turn out to be the best for everyone.

This futuristic novel has complex dynamic groups of characters and storylines. The cities are divided and the

I read an ARC version of this novel. It’s the second novel by DL Richardson I have read, and I’m not disappointed.

The story takes place in a possible vision. Aliens have arrived to save the Earth and its population from itself. Humans revere them as saviours. Yet 300 years later, they have yet to fulfill their bargain.

This reminded me of the 1980s version of V with the “Visitors” coming, regaling us with their wonders, yet withholding a terrible truth. So too are The Criterion. But DL Richardson

Earth’s population was being decimated by the EMB-II virus when the alien Criterion arrived. They averted the catastrophe, but humanity’s salvation came at a cost: the aliens stayed. At first, they stayed to assist in rebuilding and, later, the maintenance of peace among the population. For hundreds of years, the Criterion advocates have remained to guide Earth’s leaders in governing with the promise of the gift of space travel in the future.

Another consequence of the Criterion assistance was po

I started this book thinking it was going to be about the start of a war between humans and aliens. Instead I found a story that focused on a number of key characters as they were forced to face hard truths about their world and their place in it. 200 years after the alien Criterion arrived on Earth and promised to save humanity from the plague that was set to destroy them, both sides are finding themselves struggling with the status quo. The restrictive measures the Criterion put in place to e ...more

This was a very well-written book with believable characters and some great twists to keep the pages turning. It wasn't edge-of-your-seat, but close. The way Richardson developed the alien characters was masterful and frightening. I'm really surprised, though that after being with humans for so long, not more of being human rubbed off on them.

Character development is a hot-button with me and these characters are a gaggle of very humanized, 3-D characters. They all have motives, and each is set t

Earth Quarantined by D. L. Richardson is a fantastic futuristic science fiction novel that is filled with twists and turns and will have readers turning the pages quickly in anticipation while being totally enthralled and entertained.

A deadly virus kills millions of humans, but is now gone thanks to the intervention of the Criterion, an alien race that set up a system and quarantined the entire planet. They promised to give their secret into interstellar planet travel, but after years have passe

"Earth Quarantined" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by D. L. Richardson ( Ms. Richardson has published ten novels and novellas. This is the first in her "Earth Quarantined" series.

Review of EARTH QUARANTINED by D.L. Richardson

EARTH QUARANTINED is an exceptionally engrossing futuristic science fiction, a novel whose themes have applications for the present time as well. There's lies and conspiracy, alien intervention and control, and humans “just trying to get along.” For a certain segment of these, that means pure survival, away from the alien Criterion and from the Criterion's human Quislings. (See, application to history as well.)

337 years into the future, the Earth is

This book takes place over 300 years in the future. Back in 2055, the human race was nearly entirely wiped out by a virus and land was laid to waste. An alien culture came to Earth and offered salvation, but at a price. They could help with the virus and promised to share the secrets of space travel with the Earthlings, but humans would have to live under their rulership. They wouldn't be allowed to travel in space until the virus was completely eradicated. Some 300 years on now, humans are stil ...more

With shades of The Hunger Games—individual states, controlled by a central power—Ms. Richardson has come up with a nifty idea. Aliens saved what was left of humanity after a worldwide virus wiped out most of us and we accepted their help, having very little choice at that time. For 300 years since, humans have been living in quarantined colonies of a sort and have become accustomed to the twice-a-day reconnaisance by patrol ships that are manned by humans who work for the aliens. There are 100 s ...more

I'd like to say first, I don't like serials. I much prefer stand alone books. I don't enjoy having to buy another book (or two) to get to the end of the story.

That said, I did enjoy this book and the story is very good. Humanity is almost wiped out by a virus and aliens (the Criterion) come along and offer help, Not having much choice, the humans accept the help. It's now 20 years later and the aliens, with help from humans, are still keeping Earth in quarantine. Now people are starting to ques

This is an interesting take on who the future belongs to. The author does an amazing job of bringing her vision of the future world alive. There are lots of issues discussed in this plot, with the characters flitting from good to not so good. No future would really be complete without a virus and in this case an alien race to help humans out, but nothing comes free and the aliens are not a charity! This is a wonderful first book and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this first installment in this fascinating series. Our planet Earth is almost destroyed by an invasive virus, but the arrival of the Criterion species promises a possible salvation. The Quarantine implemented by the Criterion has worked, but the promises from this species have not all been fulfilled. Well written, and I will await the future installments.

Richardson's Earth Quarantined is a great sci-fi book that brings a lot of dystopian features into the story. It takes place well into the future, but there is a great "end-of-the-world" back story. The characters were definitely created with depth and chemistry. It's a good story that definitely engages the reader, and helps this reader take a dangerous journey into space. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Earth was nearly lost due to a plague killing many leaving very few human left. They were saved by aliens who promised them space travel for control. The plague is gone but there is still no space travel. They appear and peace may just be broken. What is going on? Will peace be broken? See if it will

Earth Quarantined is a science fiction book that kicks off a soon-to-come series. It takes the mixture of an alien race, the human race, and naturally, a plague that doomed the earth, and creates an almost Dystopian-type of world setting–with kick-butt characters, conspiracies, and rebel groups.

Honestly, I wanted to like this book a lot. The plot was interesting, the characters were okay, and the story-world was unique. But in the end, I just struggled to keep my eyes open. I tried so hard to pu

Spoiler alert. This is book one of three books. So the story is not finished at the end of this book. I did not care for the story and was pissed that when I got to the end I found that the story continues in two more books. I was really disappointed.

The story is about aliens who come to the Earth to help people recover from a deadly biological virus and the ravages of wars. But the aliens do not leave, they stay 20 years. Problem is there is very little description of the aliens or the whole E
