When a family tragedy rips a young woman from her quiet existence, only two things give Delia any solace: steely determination, and the butcher’s son. Well, that and the ominous whispers that warned her of impending danger throughout her childhood.

Years later, violent conflicts and machinations of war shape the headstrong young woman and her far-flung soldier i

A family tragedy rips a young girl from her quiet life on a farm in Michigan, pre-World War II. For years, she refuses to speak and then she meets the butcher’s son. Together they build a world for themselves, each a haven for the other until war sends them on disparate paths of destiny. One will lose and one will win the life games of love and peace in a world gone mad. It is a story of love’s triumph over hatred wrapped in a supernatural shell that rivals the works of Dean Koontz.

This is an excellent story, a great mix of thriller and supernatural. The story starts with a tragedy that breaks your heart, and the fallout of that occurrence both threatens and protects Delia. You are quickly drawn into the tragedy that is Delia's young life and you cannot help but feel some attachment to her, a scarred and lost soul trying to make sense of a troubled world. When war separates her betrothed, Frances, she learns that there is more to life than she thought possible. The story g ...more

Part gritty war novel, part love story but all dark fantasy, the story follows Delia whose life is pocked with violence and a couple instances of seriously misguided affection. Following her through life are sounds in her head that, while not exactly language, communicate with her nonetheless and help her to stay sage throughout WWII in Europe and back in the US with her partner, Alice.
There are several moments of touching happiness, and a few that are wicked messed up. I had to put it down a fe

4.9 stars Whispers in the Shadows will definitely chill you!

Ok, I admit it; I love scary stories and movies. Unfortunately I try to avoid the realistic stuff like stories of real killers, or their 'fun'. Once I started this story, I couldn't stop reading even if I 'd tried. This author has wowed me with this story and I can hardly wait for the next one! Don't miss this!

I could not stop reading this book

This was such a great book from beginning to end. It was set at a great pace, slow where it needs to be and heart in your throat fast when needed. The story itself was hard, tragic, and full of love and hope. I will definitely be reading all the that Jason writes.

Incredible characters, they grab your heart and pull you along for their ride.

I was shocked from the first page at how much I immediately cared for these characters. I couldn't put this book down. My only problem was the very explicit sex scenes which I had to glance over. I'm glad I read the book, it's excellent.

A psychological thriller that begins and ends with a flourish, there are arguably not one but two rather sweet romantic stories.

The development of characters is very well done here and one is likely to care for, or be intrigued by, at least four characters by the end of the fourth chapter. Thereafter, the visceral depiction of the traumatic effects of the war leaves you heartbroken as the two characters one is initially cheering for are shaped into entirely different people.
