Golden Girl #1

Two Gangs and a Golden Girl

Rate this book
The West and East gang of Tygerwell have been at each other's throats since the dawn of time. And the two leaders of these gangs want to end the fight, once and for all.

But fighting with fists is easy. Fighting with wit and charm, is a whole other ball game.

Blake. West-side gang leader. Leather jacket and killer glare. Don't talk back.

Owen. East-side gang leader. Fancy coat and toxic stare. Don't resist.

And in comes Amber. Hair of gold and oceans in her eyes. Has paint on everything she wears and always, ALWAYS, manages to get into the middle of trouble.

"She's a golden storm"

But these badboys have no idea who they're really dealing with. Amber is determined to break all the cliche's.

Three can play this game.

Well, I must admit that from the title I didn't expect much at first. But after reading the first chapter, it hooked me to keep reading! Well done author!

This book was everything I had ever longed to read. The suspense. Romance. The author nailed it!

I felt like I was having a mini attack while reading the last few chapters. Sometimes I cried, smiled and did both.

The twists and turns added the beauty to the plot.

I love Amber Marigold(the female lead). She's sassy, intelligent and has a great sense of humour. Though I like the two love interests(Blake Bowmen & Owen Rhodes) who were gang leaders of west and east side, Amber didn't get well with them. But, she would choose someone in the end, right? It really kept me on my toes while reading.

And the MYSTERIOUS FUC**ER. Amber gets a message from an unknown number, who helps her in every kind of situation and she seemed emotionally attracked to him after chatting for a long time. When asked a clue, he says he's an orphan.

It pained my mind and heart not knowing who the guy is.At first I thought, it could be Blake or Owen. But, the mysterious guy said he was an orphan, so I thought he couldn't be a gang leader(because a gang leader inherits the title and money from his/her family or something)

It was all the typical gangster story until suddenly, one day Amber got into an illegal car race, which she lost and then she had to go to some palce coz she lost the bet and that's where we meet XAVIER JILTEN. THE NORTHERN GANG LEADER. MY BABY.He's my favourite character from the whole series.(can't give away spoilers for the next book) Basically, he's the antagonist of the story.

I can't help but be drawn to Xavier's twisted words and his smirk. His character is really intriguing.

In the end, when it was revealed(spoilers) Xavier poisoned Amber, I was shocked and I hated him, he lost my respect. And then, he literally shot Amber.

He shot her! I felt like a fool to have been shipping them for sometime. While Xavier was asking Amber to choose who he could kill between Blake and Owen, at first Amber chooses Blake to die. And when Xavier raised his gun, she threw herself forward. "You asked me to choose. I choose myself." That line. Damn. It hurted a lot. Still does.

(Mega spoilers)

And then at the end, Amber survives after undergoing a heart transplant from her uncle. All I wanted was Amber to kill Xavier for all the lives that was lost on the night of the fight.

Amber merged east and west gang and became their leader. But, the problem is somehow in the rush to save everyone, she lost herself. She became this cold, distant women, by faking her smiles evryday for the sake of her gang, she became a completely new person. But, the real Amber was somewhere hiding inside.

The last chapter was the one which shocked me to the core. Literally. How?? Why?? These were the questions pounded my head.

So, Amber after waking up from coma, finds the text from mysterious guy filling her phone. There was something in the lines of 'I love you' 'I would die if you won't wake up, Marigold.' and the last one 'If you wake up, I will tell you who I am. That's it. No secrets.'

And the mysterious guy shared her some details about the northern gang's shipment and messaged her he would do anything for her.

She gets to the place, where the northern gang's shipment is taking place, with her gang, and goes on about how she has a great ally, who knows about the northern gang's secret plans.

Xavier's sarcastic words and Amber's "I'll kill you one day" speech was good. Xavier's smirked never faded. I got confused.

And just when the northern gang got into their cars, Xavier turns around, smirking at Amber and says "I'm the MYSTERIOUS FUC**R" and then leaves, leaving behind a confused and open-mouthed Amber and the readers.

Me after reading the last chapter on my way to open the next book: I don't want sleep, I want answers.

That's it, guys. The end. It was huge cliff hanger but everything was worth it to read the next book.

So you got to know before everything that, yes this book contains lots of cliché, despite what it says. Now that we got that out of the way, I do have to say in defense of the plotline that it actually surprise me. Despite the cliché, the story manage to merge humor, drama, romance, mistery and action. And I've got to admit it did keep me glue to the story till I finished.

About the main characters in the story, you got a huge mix of personalities. On one side, you got Amber, the golden girl, who have an air of innocence and kindness that have no comparison in the world of darkness that surrounds the gangs. On the other hand, you have Blake and Owen, leaders of opposing sides gangs, both with strong personalities that have been formed and tainted by the fact they are in gangs.

Now, let's get to the juicy staff, let's talk about the plot changes that actually makes this book such a page turner. First, you gotta hand it to the author, she did make a great job with the creation and evolution of each character, including those that weren´t really main ones. Secondly, there are huge, and I mean HUGE, plot twist in the storyline that manage to stop you from losing your interest and creates lots of room for the creation of new paths of action that can take the characters. Third, despite the fact that the characters can be a little infuriating at times, you can't help but get attached to them, and again that's a great author job right there. Lastly but not least, the end was unexpected and shocking, keeps you hanging and waiting for more. Overall, this is a great story -despite the cliché- and I just can't wait to know what happens in the end with these characters.

Finally, kudos for the author because you created a story with an awesome plotline that you can just imagine the amount of work and thought it took. It was a memorable book in Wattpad and that alone says a lot.

I mean to be genuinely sincere and in no way mean here but I didn't enjoy the book much. Sure there were parts where I really liked it, but it was quickly overshadowed by how frustrated I got with it. I recently finished book 1 and from the very beginning, I've been frustrated. The main character got very annoying very quickly and I could barely hold myself from throwing my phone away at every instance she says she's 'not cliche' or implies as such. And god, I would be rich if I got a penny for every time she mentions her vintage clothing and paint stains on her dress. Apart from the main character being painfully bothersome, the other characters are a little less on the annoying side and more on the 'I'm just here for the romantic interest and plot drive', I don't feel much character development that feels real apart from one that was Blake.

On a nicer note, the author does have a really good writing style, especially in the way she describes emotions but otherwise unless her characters have a little more depth, I don't think I will be finishing the second book anytime soon. And so far, it's 50-50 for me. I think I'm still reading it because I want to know how she plans to end the series.

This is the first Wattpad book I've so far read, and I never thought that I would actually love this book! I liked Amber's character development, but I hope that she would stay the same way she was throughout the book and I loved both Blake and Owen, also, both of the inner-gangs characters, the storyline actually surprised me, as I've never read a book with gangs aspect, and I'm really excited to read the sequel ! The only reason I didn't rate this book 5/5 stars is because of some grammer and spelling mistakes(not as they are bad) and I'm pretty sure that the author would edit it to make it better, also I loved how I learnt the story from so many point of views , so that we get to know the story from all views and sides! I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone !

Amber Marigold was a good protagonist, though at times I thought she was being a bit of a mary sue. with that being said, the story was an amazing turn on the nerdy girl meets the gang leader. the character dynamic was really brought out with all of the characters, thus this helps with calvin and matt dying together. That didn't bring me to tears, but it definitely brought out a feeling that only the best writers could nail. Anyways in conclusion, I thought the story was great, and I can't wait to read the second book.

Can a human heart explode a million times? I think it can because mine just did.
WOW
No- I mean- WOW
Really, just...WOW.
When I reached the end, I legit had my head on my hands and my lips in a permanent 'O' shape. I cannot even tell you what hit me. THIS BOOK SHOULD BE PUBLISHED AND BE ONE OF THE MOST READ BOOKS, WHY IS IT STILL NOT PUBLISHED? BECAUSE I NEED THIS ON MY SHELF.
I don't even know how the writer, who calls herself 'The Cabbage Queen' did it but...she has officially made this book mark itself on 'the-top-five-books-from-wattpad-that-i-absolutely-love' list.
I did not expect this book to be what it turned out as. I read it hoping it will be a love triangle with a plot twist and drama but oh my god, i got an exploding package of drama, humor, boys, friendship, family, loyalty, self-belief, comebacks, feminism, 'i'm-wheezing' laughter, tears and heartbreak. Most of all...scenarios that my mind can never conjure up! This book is not at all what you expect it to be. I'm so ready to dive into the next one because I think finally the real show will start.
I can't even imagine what it would be like because the first book exceeded everything i expected from the book and left my heart thumping, eyes wide with tears, crazy smiles and a new freaking OBSESSION!
Because HELL YEAH I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK!
This book actually taught me that it's possible to crush over multiple guys (not just two) at the same time. But that's not the worst part- the worst part is that THEY AREN'T EVEN REAL AND IT BREAKS MY HEART.
I don't even know what to say except- GO READ THIS AMAZING, SACRED, STUNNING, CAPTIVATING BOOK!

This was a great book compared to all the other wattpad books. Didn’t really expect it to come out that great.

Although there were some scenes which made me want to cringe and put my phone down for a sec 😂

Other all it was fine.

But honestly, the plot twists were too easy to figure out and weren’t that shocking at all 😅

I read this book 4 years ago, and recently discovered that the author is publishing an ACTUAL, physical, rewritten version. I figured I’d write a review of the Wattpad version first, before reading the official one.

In terms of Wattpad standards, this book is astoundingly good. Unfortunately, I don’t remember enough to write a thoroughly review, but enough to give a well deserved rating.

I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, typically because I don’t want to risk the possibility of the female protagonist choosing the guy I don’t favor. If not that, then being conflicted about who I want her white. A good romance book for me, is when there’s only one love interest to focus on. But this isn’t a romance, despite it playing a big part into the trilogy.

This trilogy, as it says in the title, is about gangs and overall a harsh, and dangerous environment. This book made me laugh, there’s a bunch of humor! But also emotional to the point I cried. I was young when I read the book, around 13 and an inexperienced reader. I think my age played into how overwhelmingly I adored this book! As your taste and opinions change throughout the years. But my opinion of tgaagg still stands, it was an enjoyable read.

I can’t recommend the published version yet without having read it. But considering it’s still based on the Wattpad drafts with the same plot despite some changes, I can confidently say it’ll be a good, interesting and nowhere near boring read!

Loved this book! It kept me hooked throughout and I grew to love all of the characters for who they were, finding myself torn between Owen and Blake like Amber. Really enjoyed all the twists and turns and how I discovered secrets along with the characters, the final one of which shocked me! Loved Amber and how she was everything at once and the beautiful lines written by the author about her just added to this, I definitely read each one of them twice! Can't wait to read the next one in the series!

LOVED IT! Amber is your typical cliché girl, bright and full of light. She accidentally pisses off the wrong people and a bet is made on her. Only, she wasn't supposed to hear it. How's Amber going to react when finding out she's the ultimate answer to a long standing gang feud? Change up the game, of course.
This book comes with more twists than a pretzel. This author doesn't use your typical clichés. She keeps you waiting up until midnight for the next chapter. I jump from ship to ship just to have to unexpected happen. I can't wait for the second book!

Not going to lie, for a Wattpad book this was good. The first half was honestly nice and I was hooked but as the ending came I came to hate it. The original story wasn't there anymore and it became something I was frustrated with. I do think if I read the sequel, I would like the next story but I am so frustrated by the ending I don't think I will continue. The ending I feel like was supposed to be a huge plot twist that made us excited but the plot twist ruined everything that we were working towards. Maybe it worked for some people but not for me...

Hmmmmmm....
I'm usually not the one who reads and COMPLETES Wattpad books...ever.

This book was well..
The suspense that the writer created really skyrocket my expectations of the ending which is my bad ig?
But overall it was ok really. I mean I'd probably expect more romance and butterflies from a Wattpad novel but this book was just a very messy love triangle where surprisingly I didn't like either of the guys very much-

I don't hate the book, at all really. I had an awesome time but I just don't see myself taking the time out to read the next part.

one of the best books I've come across on online reading platforms such as wattpad, the storyline is great, unique, filled with suspense, mystery and surprises.

the characters are as realistic as characters in a book can be. and honestly i highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys highschool/teenager books that are not cliche. because this beauty is great and its sequels are even greater.

i’vd read this book twice in my lifetime. once at a youngish age and another a few years later. it’s still one of my favorite starting books because the plot keeps you hooked on it. first books of any series are most of the time never five stars because it has too much information to keep up with. but this was the first trilogy/series i enjoyed.
