Fantastic book about family, forgiveness, and what the truth really means. Wish it were just a bit shorter in the middle, but that’s only because the last parts were SO gripping! A definite add to my classroom library. Thank you to the author and publisher for an advanced copy. This one’s out next month!

What a fun, action-packed middle grade novel! But SURVIVOR GIRL is not only an adventure story, it also explores deeper issues such as family relationships, divorce, friendship, honesty, and self-concept. Told from the perspective of Ali (A.K.A. “Ali-Gator”) a twelve year old girl, whose father stars in a reality TV show reminiscent of Steve Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter, SURVIVOR GIRL will delight and engage readers.

Here’s the premise: Ali’s father, George, is so busy filming his reality show, Surv

Twelve-year-old Ali loves her reality TV star father, Survivor Guy, and plans to follow in his footsteps as Survivor Girl. Her life as she knows it though is crumbling around her. @kidlitexchange #partner Thanks to the #kidlitexchange network, publisher @hmhkids, and author @ekteagan for the review copy of this book - all opinions are my own! Alison’s father is the popular Survivor Guy, which means he’s away a lot on location to film his show. So when he invites Ali to come with him on a trip to a swamp she’s determined to go despite her mother’s protests. However, she’s nervous that her friends will see she isn’t quite the survivor girl she’s told them she is. Upon arriv ...more

Twelve-year-old Ali faces the usual trials on the home front with an annoying older brother, an estranged best friend, and feuding parents. But since one of her parents is the famous TV star, Survivor Guy, that adds some serious complications to her pre-teen dilemmas. When she unexpectedly becomes part of the reality show in the dreaded dismal swamp episode, she quickly learns the truth about her too-often missing dad and his not-so-real on screen escapades. Plus, she uncovers news even more dev ...more

Teagan's sophomore standalone (if you missed her debut The Friendship Experiment, get on it!) is fantastic. Imagine your dad's got his own reality show, Survivor Guy. Sounds pretty great, right? He makes lots of money, he's famous, but, oh wait, that also means he's not around that much. So much, in fact, that a lot of your stories about him are . . . well, more fiction than truth.

For 12 year old Ali, that's how it's been for years, but this summer her dad whisks her away to be a part of his sh

Thank you to the author and publisher for sharing an ARC with our #bookexpedition group.

Twelve year old Ali adores her famous reality show dad, Survivor Guy. So when she’s asked to go along with him on location, she’s excited to spend time with him yet nervous she doesn’t have what it takes to be a Survivor Girl...until she learns that the show’s “reality” isn’t quite what the audience sees. There’s a huge crew, set, a script, props, and stunt doubles!

When a real natural disaster happens on se

SURVIVOR GIRL is full of great humor and surprising emotional depth for such a fast-paced and high-stakes adventure. Downed trees, lightning strikes, firestorms, and rescues plague Alison and her reality show family on their trip to the Great Dismal Swamp, but the story manages themes of friendship, honesty, family, and divorce with a skillful touch too.

I really liked Alison; her arc from a boastful tween who secretly sucks at everything to a more honest version of herself was really believable

Five stars to Ali, a real Survivor Girl in every sense of the word. Whether it be owning the truth abt her parents, realizing her dad’s survival show isn’t hard to survive, or when a REAL disaster strikes, Ali learns & grows through it all. Look for it 7/2019.
