How did I end up so frustrated? It’s a question Katherine asks herself every day. First, a surprise inheritance tipped her life upside-down, and now her new RV park is a muddy mess of half-restored trailers. To make matters worse, she’s falling for her first crush all over again. The only thing she’s sure of at this point is a full-blown identity crisis.
Alex came home after a life-threatening wound ended his Army career. Now Katie is back too, and she’s building something called a glamping park? He feels like he let her down years ago, can he make it up to her now? Or are his own problems too much to handle?
Fate brought Katherine and Alex back to Smithville, and the town-folk want to see them together again. Will the couple be able to cope with the locals well-intentioned meddling, or did their second chance at romance disappear a long time ago...
Kirsten is a writer with a love of art and design. She worked in the engineering field, taught college, and consulted free lance. Due to health problems, she retired in 2012 to travel with her husband. They live and work full time in a 40' travel trailer with their little dog Bingo. Besides writing romance novels, she enjoys selling art on Etsy and spoiling their four grandchildren.
As a writer, Kirsten's goal is to create strong female characters who face challenging, painful, and sometimes comical situations. She believes that the best way to deal with struggle is through friendship and women helping women. She knows good stories are based on interesting and relatable characters.
Hometown Girl Again (Hometown Series Book 5) by Kristen Fullmer is all about second chances. This is an emotional story filled with three dimensional characters. The story revolves around the lost love of two people, Katie and Alex. After they both show up back in their hometown for different reasons, Katie for a funeral, and Alex with a life-threatening wound in the Army, they must ask themselves if it is too late to rekindle what they could have had. Katie has the additional burden of an unplanned inheritance from a great Uncle she hardly knew. Filled with meddling neighbors of the best kind, Smithville is a small town that just about anyone would want to live in. Add to that dynamic, the unresolved romance between Katie and Alex, and you have a fulfilling and wholesome story, something that is often missing in today's fiction. Great characters, and a solid plot make this a strong recommendation.
Another heart-warming read from Fullmer, and although I tend to get rather jaded with series novels that go on past three I’m still hooked by the Hometown Girl books.
I felt myself invested and also involved in Katie’s struggles, and was rooting for her and Alex even though early on I wasn’t sure what I’d make of their development together.
Sometimes emotional, sometimes heart-breaking, but a fun to read book along the way makes this a hit from me and Fullmer one of my faves in this genre.

I thought this was a fun and quick read. I got to know about RV Parks and what it takes to restore all the old Rvs from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Katie and Alex had a love affair the summer they graduated and then he broke up with her to join the Army. She left town and her mother had died. Katie had turned into a hermit and not having friends. So when her uncle passed away and she found out about the inheritance then she moved back to town. Only to run into Alex again. Watching these 2 struggle with their emotions was heartbreaking at times as you knew they still cared about each other.
I received this from NetGalley and Books Go Social for an honest review
Coming home always brings back memories and sometimes we have the chance to do it all over again. That’s what happens to Katie and Alex. They have the chance to start something beautiful, but this means Alex will have to prove he’s here to stay and Katie has to make room for this old love into her heart and plans.
I loved the story very much. Even from the start, the characters’ honesty is very vivid. Katie is back in town to attend her uncle’s funeral. She is honest when it comes to her feelings towards her relatives and her surprise at seeing Alex is genuine. He, on the other hand, is struck with grief at loosing another comrade. Though his injury is keeping him away from army, he still feels it as part of his soul. When they finally meet, their hesitation is so palpable. Kirsten Fullmer did a wonderful job expressing their emotions and capturing every feeling in words.
So we have established that the romance and the characters were very well created. Except that, we see a woman trying to start a business and we see her put her mind to it. We have meddling people, the kind that will put their nose into other’s lives. But it makes the story fun and alive. I liked their “contribution” and it provides that small town feeling.
All in all, I liked this book quite a lot. The reason for not giving all my stars is that there were moments where the alternation between the points of view bothered me. We see too little of one character before moving to the next. Also, I keep wondering, if Alex wouldn’t have gotten hurt, had their love found its place again? Enjoy 🙂
The story starts with the funeral of a distant relative at which Katherine, our leading lady, sees Alex, a former lover, for the first time in years. Katherine receives land and money in the will and decides to start a holiday camping park business. Guess who arrives when she books an electrician to work on site? None other than Alex. The author describes only too well the pent up resentment and tension between the pair and goes on to deliciously tease readers in each chapter with their will-they-won’t-they back and forth. If you like a strong female character that gives as good as she gets as well as a lightweight easy-to-read romance with a happy ending, Katherine and Alex’s story could be just your cup of tea.
Hometown girl again⭐️ Story wise this is the fifth book in the series and I didnt know that when I requested it so my opinion for the plot and characters is slightly useless. On the other hand, the writing was nice and easy to read. Even though I was confused about past events that happened the story flowed nicey and I was able to follow along.
Thank you so much to netgalley for sending me an ARC copy of Hometown girl again by kiresten Fullmer This will be released on July 10,2018 All opinions are my own.
Fullmer creates a rich world with diverse characters. We get caught in the whirlwind that is Katherine’s life, and ride the roller coaster of emotions. Two lovers brought together despite their external conflicts is a classic theme, but it feels real here. It’s hard not to support these two in the same ways we would our best friends. This story is very rich in raw emotion, and as Katherine works to better her situation (which she has her work cut out for her with the RV park) we see the grit that makes her shine. This whole story is a nod toward renewed life and vigor in every aspect and that everything, from an old lover to an RV park, deserves another chance. The characters alone get a recommendation from me, give this book and Fullmer a shot.
Such sweet stories. Small town girls finding the men of their dreams. Old friends, new friends, lives intertwined. A most enjoyable series filled with stories that’ll bring a rear to your eye and a smile to your lips.
Every once in a while, I seek out a story on finding oneself. This is such a story, for with the lead characters, Katherine and Alex, you learn that we are never too broken to be unworthy of love, and that there's always a place we can call home just as long as we open our hearts to receiving and giving love. If you also love reading about meddling neighbors, then be my guest- this book's got a bunch of them. It's also got an adorable dog to boot. Thanks NetGalley for the eARC.
While this is the fifth book in a series, I had no problem reading it as a stand-alone novel. Not a 'serious' read, this is a fun romance bringing together former lovebirds when they work on a common project.
I really enjoyed this series. This town is so welcoming along with the people. I found this book to be warm, welcoming, you will fall in love with all the characters. I need to find out if this town is real.
Really enjoyed this book. I love Vintage Campers and I enjoy camping. I live in Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh and know of Uniontown. I was surprised to read the references in the story. Enjoyed the characters. Very Good
I really enjoyed this book. Both characters are changing their lifestyles and coming to terms with their flaws and strengths. A relationship is always about give and take and sometimes that’s a good thing. A significant other can help us bring out the good and curb the bad. I loved watching the park come together too.
I think this series gets better with each story. I loved the vintage campers, and Katie's plan for a glamping park. And I learned a lot about revamping the campers; that was a plus in the book. Katie and Alex have changed a lot since they were teenagers in love, and finding their way back to each other was a good story.
A beautiful story written from someone who has knowledge about the knocks life can deliver and having faith in trusting someone to pull you out of the darkness.
Katie (Katherine) Harris returns to her hometown for her grand-uncle’s funeral and boy is she unprepared to face her past. She and an older cousin receive a generous gift from this deceased grand-uncle through his will and Katie decides to open up her very own RV park. Her former teenhood boyfriend, military veteran Alex is called upon to fix water and sewer lines for it and Katie finds it difficult (well, for both of them) as memories of them together in the past resurface since Katie has an inner warfare with accepting her present while Alex still feels inadequate over wounds (both physical and mental) from his time in the military. Now Alex has a puppy dog he calls Fish who acts as a healing medium between them and soon they find their way to loving each other again in this funny, predictable story so sweet and tender I could not put it down while I was in the middle of reading it. Its inclusion of the RV park and everything that has to do with its setup added to my enjoyment of it because I’m always open to new ideas of how to live thriftily in this expensive world we live in. And because Katie and Alex are somehow around my age level, this made it all the more delightful and entertaining besides the fact that it’s a romance novel and that I seldom enjoy it unless it’s got suspense and substance to it. This book is simple and concise but it contains interesting elements I gave it a chance and omg I loved it and would definitely read all the books in this entire series if I really think about it. (This is book 5 in this series by Kirsten Fullmer.)
Katie is biracial and that’s still another ingredient that piqued my interest for this book. She is the product of a Brazilian writer father who came to live there in her small town who met her mother who was White and together they produced her. She is always described as having her hair in a bun while sweating and constantly trying to adapt to the world of trailer-living. She has identity issues because she has a hard time disposing of her former life to what she is now, a RV park businesswoman. What I also liked about Katie is the fact that she is trying to conserve resources (very frugal) while in the middle of fixing up her trailer and others for her business model. She gets by with the little she owns and it’s good to know that she tries to befriend people in her small town community so that they will help her with her business’ needs. This book is so relatable because of all those that I mentioned it really was worth my spacious time. Let me see if it has some negatives that I should address…hmmm…I could not put a finger on any… Oh! And another likable trait of this book was the fact that it is void of explicit sexual situations. Through it all there is none of that in this book so I think it’s a great and safe choice for a teenage reader who has an interest in the romance genre.
I would recommend this book to both women and men readers because it’s got both feminine and masculine characteristics that will appeal to both sexes. Where the romance is for the women, there is also the manly, rugged world of Alex that I am positive will suffice the reading tastes of men. Alex is a great guy. Not only does he make an effort to seek amends with Katie, he is also devoted to his work as a plumber/maintenance who works for his father and also lives with him under the same roof. Alex is described to have a beard and that is a most recent fashion statement for men nowadays. Anyway, links are available in this review to order your copy (whether it’s the E-book or printed form) so you can see what an amazing book this is. Now have a great Sunday and talk to you later!
Sometimes the best way to send a rainy weekend is with a good romance novel that stirs up emotions and really takes you on a journey. 'Hometown Girl Again' by Kirsten Fullmer is one such novel. The plot is contemporary with relatable narratives and characters that you will very quickly feel empathy for. The story is well written and I enjoyed how it switched between different points of view, as it made the novel flow really well. This is the first novel from the 'Hometown Series' I have read, but I'm fairly certain it will not be the last.
The story follows old flame's Alex and Katie as they reconnect when Alex returns home following a life-changing injury that ended his military career. Katie I having some troubles of her own, trying to set up her own glamping site, but having some serious struggles. The return of her first love turns her life upside down as she notices old feelings return. But, sometimes your ex is an ex for a reason, and going back is not just an option. Is it too late for Alex and Katie to find one another again? And will the interference of the small town residents make it impossible for the pair to recognise their true feelings?
Through tragic yet separate circumstances, Katie and Alex – high school sweethearts – have returned to their hometown of Smithville. The small town holds vivid memories for the pair, no more so than their intense love affair and painful breakup when Alex joined the army. Now they are both back, but very different people each damaged and troubled in their own way – Alex almost died on a tour of duty, and Katie is struggling to get her life together. The question is, can they find relief from their pain and troubles in each other, or will they just serve to keep them apart?
Hometown Girl Again by Kirsten Fullmer is a really beautifully written romance novel, that is believable and honest. It was moving and emotive and it perfectly describes the power of that first big love. Fullmer has written a novel that is so engaging and enthralling, I definitely will be reading more of her work in the future.

Once again, Ms. Fullmer has written a book that was pleasant & easy to read. This book is also set in Smithville. Katie & her cousin, Becky, have lost an uncle. They are the only two surviving relatives. They meet with their uncle’s attorney to go over the will. They find that their uncle has left his property to them. Katie was born in Smithville, but never knew her dad. She decides to move back to Smithville & open an RV Park with vintage trailers on her uncle’s property. She arranges for an electrician to put in electrical service to each trailer site. When Alex shows up to do the work, Katie remembers how Alex had broken up with her when they were both teenagers to go into the Army. Can they learn to work together? You’ll have to read this book!
This is the story of Alex and Katherine, with both of them trying to get past their past. Katherine inherits money and land. She choses to restore old vintage camping trailers and open a camp site for people to come and enjoy. Alex has just got home from Afghanistan where he was hurt and his fellow service buddies were killed. He is now an electrician. They both have their past problems. To make it worse, they were once in love with each other. Alex is hired to wire up all of the trailers that Katherine gets in. There is trouble right from the start, but as the book goes along, they learn to work with each other and their friendship returns, with the help of a little dog, named Fish.
Hometown Girl Again is the final book in the Hometown Girl series. Alex and Katie's story was emotional, heartwarming and shows a second chance at love is possible. I fell in love with Fish, Alex's companion/service dog, who failed his service dog training by the way.(lol) For me, Fish was instrumental in Alex and Katie getting back together. As always the people of Smithville were their meddling, busy body selves. Hate to see this series end, maybe the author will write a novella, updating us on all of the couples.(hint hint) ;-)
I read to relax after a very busy day. This lovely romance was unusual and very relaxing. A librarian inherited a fortune and a lovely piece of ground. What she did with both was magical. What that did for the town was unexpected. What it did for a withdrawn sad soldier, who alone had survived a tour of duty in Afganistan, and what it did for an estranged couple ,who loved each other desperately, was unthinkable. And in the heart of it was a French bulldog, with bulging eyes and a funny grin, who had flunked service school.
A page turner that is hard to put down. Interesting story with several turns and twists. Couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next and now I'm sad it is over! I Recommend this book. BTW if you have or are interested in motor homes or travel trailers that's a plus as the building of an RV park is the framework of the story.
I chose this book because of the description. Both recovering from different pains in life but it's that life that threw them back together. They once shared an awesome love then he left for the Army and she lost her Mom. Her courageous idea of a vintage RV park just might bring them back together.
I can't believe each book in this series makes me say "This one is the best!" Loved this one, the vintage trailers , I had a tiny 14 footer with a fancy toilet but no shower or real bed! And, of course little Fish who sounds so much like my own Frenchie! A beautiful romance story that will make you smile for sure!
Adventure in a old, vintage camper world, & today's life.
This book took me back to my childhood , filled with the adventures of old vintage campers getting a new life, along with the characters filled with human emotions. Started reading & had to finish it before anything else could get done.
Katie had loved Alex as a teen, had her heart broken when he left, and now she was back in town and here he was, too. As both worked to make he glamping grounds a reality, the many problems and trials were popping up again. Would she have a broken heart again or win in the end?
This is book 5 in a series I need to buy the first 4 and read those! This is an emotional story filled with three dimensional characters. The story revolves around the lost love of two people, Katie and Alex. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to adding this author to my loved list
