I Fall Apart: A Love Story in Verse

Rate this book
“It was just a kiss.”
That’s what my friends told me.
But they couldn’t really understand.
It was a kiss.
A kiss that made me feel like I could fly and crash all at once.
A kiss that set my body aflame.
A kiss that eventually tore me apart.
A kiss that wrecked my whole world.
It was a kiss alright.
One that changed everything.

Well this is the first story I have ever read that has been written in verse and it was absolutely wonderful!

A young woman arrives in Ireland to spend three months studying at a University there. On a night out with friends she unexpectantly meets a guy, someone she shares an instant connection with.

This is just the beginning of a sweet story of love which grows into so much more between them. A three month romance that starts off gently and moves into one with so much intensity and emotion. Young love, especially first love comes when you least expect it and along with it comes emotions never explored or felt before.

"You search my eyes before placing a kiss onto my lips. One of those kisses where both of our eyes are open Because sometimes, The life playing out in front of you is better than anything you could imagine."

As the time moves on I was getting nervous about the impending heartbreak that would result at the inevitable separation that would crush them both. This story was a beautiful reflection of how deeply people can fall when they have found the right person for them. How it can become an all encompassing, and for some an obsessive experience.

Kenzie does an incredible job of describing the thoughts, feelings, sights, smells & sounds. There is so much depth to this story and it is very rich in emotion. I got all those wonderful ‘book feels’ whilst sitting outside in the sun inhaling every word of this beautifully crafted prose. A fabulous reading experience!

I Fall Apart: A Love Story Written in Verse by Kenzie Hart
4.5 stars!!!

“Love can set you free, if you let it,”

I read this book,
I loved this book.
Unique in its delivery
Yet no less powerful.
Beautifully composed,
With honesty and passion.
One of a kind,
Unputdownable read.

A love story,
Written in verse.
Poetic.
Emotional.
Captivating.
Heart-breaking.

“And the moment that your body finally connects with mine,
Everything that was holding me together falls apart
And I lose all control
I lose everything to you.”

A story of love,
A summer romance…not.
A love so powerful it can
Consume.
Destroy.
Annihilate.

“You love so deeply
It’s your biggest strength
And deepest weakness
Because it can destroy you
Love can destroy you
And I just hope you don’t get scared
Because if you do
You’ll destroy me too.”

No names,
Just visceral emotions.
Raw.
Real.
Honest.
Painfully, painfully honest.

Love hurts,
Love is kind.
Love is passion.
Love is all-encompassing.
Love is the best feeling in the world,
Until it isn’t.

“We’re doomed to this endless pain
And that is our fate
And since you’ve accepted it
Then so should I
Because if you’ve given up on me
Why shouldn’t I give up on myself too?”

I’ve never read
Anything like this.
It took some getting used to.
But the emotions,
They bled.
You feel.
You hurt.
You hope.
Love conquers all.

I love poetry
This ticked my boxes.
So different.
Unique.
Understated.
Yet powerful.
Short.
Sharp.
Emotions.
So few words
Yet so full of meaning.
This won.
This slayed.
This was perfect.

Attenzione, Impertinente in vista!

Tutto cade in pezzi
Tutto si separa
Ma con te lì,
È tutto al posto giusto
Tutto è dove deve essere
Chi sono
Cosa desidero
Esiste grazie a te
Tu tieni insieme la mia vita
L’unico filo d’oro

I am in love with this book!!!

When I first started reading it took me a second to get past the descriptions of places and people and names missing from the chapters. But I quickly realized You feel the story and emotion so much more with the way the book is written.

The writing style is different from anything that I have ever read before. Once I realized how she was telling the story and started to feel the love pouring out of the two main characters, I didn’t care anymore about their names or what they looked like. I cared about the story and about the relationship between them.

If you have ever truly been completely heartbroken then you know that it feels like no one else could possibly understand the pain or what you’re going through. But this was relatable. I was in tears at the way she describes and writes heartbreak.

This book is short but packed full of so much feeling. I loved this book and I think this author is a genius. One click it you won’t be sorry.

This book owned me. Wow. It was so poetic and intense and full of the feels. I’m new to the way this story was told. It was told in verses. Just like how a song is written. Every verse gripped me. I knew from the very first verse that I was going to love this story. And then once the last verse was said, I knew I was head over heels in love with this book.

Its always amazes me how authors write. Each have their own voice and style, and most I’ve become quite familiar with. However, in this case, I was floored. Not only was the story told differently than what I am accustomed to, but it’s also told in first person with lots of inner dialogue. But, it builds the story the way it’s supposed to; in layers. As you read a verse, you’re inhaling each punch the verse is delivering. It’s poetic, as I previously mentioned, but also cathartic, in its own right.

I felt a wonderful connection with our heroin. She tells her story and shares her feelings so beautifully. Almost in an enlightening way. She gave me hope and she also gave me feels. Quite a bit of the feels. It’s a story of love, the anguish of life and the trials and tribulations that follow. If you remember how your heart bled for your first love, you’ll be certain to love her story.

This story is addictive. I started quite early this morning, and finished in one sitting. I knew I had to finish as soon as I started. I was enthralled from verse one and felt like my heart was kidnapped. It was finally returned to me as I finished her story.

This is the second book that I’ve read from Author Kenzie Hart, and I can you that she is on my insta-one-click list. Her range in storytelling is breathtaking. I love that she is able to incorporate different countries into her stories, all the while detailing every little bit of her scenes; which helped me feel as if I was there in her stories with her characters. Be prepared to love and indulge in this story. It’s unique and very special. Know going in, you’ll be overcome by all the feels and that Author Kenzie Hart pulls us in and slowly releases us, as the story unfolds.

I wanted to love this book; I really did. I've read novels in verse before and I enjoy them, so I had high expectations for this one. I found this story to be repetitive. I started to tell my husband different aspects and he replied with "So, 50 Shades?" And I couldn't help but agree.

I am a firm believer that a story starts with characters. You can have the same story by two different authors. One develops the characters and writes a fantastic story. The other one focuses more on the development of the story and leaves the characters behind and the story is lacking. A story that is character developed leaves the readers knowing the characters on a deeper level and wants the characters to succeed or fail. They weep with them when they are sad or shout for joy when something exciting happens for them. Hart fails to develop her characters. I don't feel anything for the main character. I was more frustrated with how the story was developing instead of hurting for the main character. I just didn't believe the characters, and therefore, I found a story that I just couldn't feel anything for.

I went into this book knowing it would be emotional but I had no idea what I was in for. The way this story is told in verse gives it a romantic feel that makes you just want to sigh with happiness as you read it. It allowed me to be immersed in the feelings of the couple. I couldn't stop reading. I feel there is a chapter for anyone that reads the book. Whether you've been in love, heartbroken or anywhere in between you will be able to relate and feel like you are part of the story.
This is part of my favorite line:
"You’re the thread
The single golden thread that holds my universe together..."

This is my first read of contemporary verse and I absolutely loved how the story unfolded. I can't recommend it enough.

While I enjoyed the story I had trouble with the writing style. When I first signed up I didn’t realize it was written in verses. I also haven’t read a story in this style before and wanted to give it a go. I did learn it isn’t for me. With that said you should give it a go because you may fall in love with it!!

I also had trouble connecting with the characters because they didn’t have names.

Overall this was just an alright read for me. I will definitely pick up another book by Kenzie Hart.

I have to admit I'm not a big poetry reader, so I was a bit worried that a book written in verse style wouldn't be my cup of tea. I am happy to report that I loved it! Once I got into the flow and into the rhythm, it was such an enjoyable read. It was romantic, passionate, and so emotional. I read it during a very busy few days, and one thing I really liked was that it was easy to pick up and put down as I found myself with pockets of time. I'm excited to see what Kenzie Hart has planned for her next book.

I just finished this book and words can even begin to describe how beautiful it was. It’s so different from anything else I’ve read. It consumes you as you are reading and takes over your senses. You feel like YOU are in the phrases; the story. The characters tell so much yet leave so much more to your imagination. It’s emotional but necessary. The whole book stitches back together all of your own broken pieces as you read and relate to it. Must read!

I've never read a book written in this style before. Maybe a prologue , but never a whole book. It was amazing! The writing style added to the raw emotion of the story itself.
A story about a girl that loses herself in love.

A story of soulmates plagued by circumstance.

Raw.
Authentic.
Real.
Heartfelt emotion.

This story writing is so refreshing, different and real. A definite must read.

Wow...what a unique reading experience this book was! I've never read a book written in verse before, and I'll admit it was strange at first. But once I got into the story I COULD NOT put it down. It's so raw and real and beautifully written. It was a quick read (mostly because I couldn't wait to see what happened) that had me turning the pages quickly. A gut wrenching romance that you won't soon forget!

This story is wrote unlike anything I’ve read before. I thought I wouldn’t like it but gave it a try anyway. It took a little while to get used to the writing style but once you do the pages fly by. The story makes you feel and whiteness what the character is going through. It draws you in and makes you want to see if she will find her happy. If your looking for something different to read you should give this book a try you will be surprised by it.

The beautiful words of this book simply blew me away. It was one of the most romantic, heartbreaking, sexy and passionate stories I have read. While not explicitly graphic, the steamy scenes were beyond hot. This book sucked me in from the beginning and I felt like I was in the story. I could not put it down until I reached the final word. Amazing! Will definitely read more by this author!

Easy and quick read. I actually found this a refreshing change from the adjective filled dribble that is out there lately. This is written in verse or prose. The type of story that sucked me in and it made me feel as though I was the story teller giving “him” the facts of how I saw our story.

Long, long poem

Reminded me of a book in verse that was popular in my youth called “This Is My Beloved” except for a different ending. Quite lovely and passionate and full of the fire, sweetness, and pain of young love.

I loved their encounters, but I hated their strong feelings towards each other. I knew the ending could not be satisfying, their love cannot last, it will not last! It felt as if they jumped knowing that they will smash at the end. They jumped anyway and convinced themselves that this is a happy ride.
But then, Kenzie Hart in a very simple way demonstrated the key to a lasting love/relationship, one must take the extra step. One must compromise/sacrifice to keep the boat afloat.

“I seem to be asking everyone the same question
In different ways
Should love be hard?
Should it be consuming?
Maybe it should be
Or maybe love should be easy
It should be comfortable
I get may answers
But one thing everyone seems to agree upon
Consuming love fades
It disappears as quickly as it came about
And what you’re left with is everything else
You’re left with a person
You’re left with conversations
Daily life
Laughing together
Crying together
You’re left with normal events and small actions that make up your day
You’re not left with a consuming lustfulness
You’re not left with only blinding passion
You’re left with a person,
A person who is normal
A person who makes mistakes
A person who messes up
And you have to love that person
Respect that person
Because when the blinding passion gone,
That is who you are left with”.

There are a lot of the same internal conversations in the girl’s head, conversations that should lead to clarity, but she keeps on going. The repetition got me bored few times.
Kenzie is a tender writer. She puts delicate words describing sweet and intimate moments.
I would read for her again

This book is ridiculous. Now, to be fair, I’m a grown-ass woman with 2 kids in her second marriage, so I might not be the target audience. BUT STILL. 90% of this book is just teenage drama, as told by every 17 year old who ever kept a diary. I was a diary-keeping 17 year old, and honestly I think my pathos was written better. The last 10% is pure Mary sue wish fulfillment to the point I was wondering if I had changed books somehow. That’s an hour and a half I’ll never get back. I’d give zero stars if possible.

There really isn’t much to say about this book, as there really isn’t much to this book. Honestly, I was bored through most of it. They meet right at the beginning of the book and then they fall in love quickly. Then it’s just them being in love and having sex for the majority of the first half of the book. Then she has to go back home at the end of the summer and has to deal with the repercussions from that. She goes a little crazy. Then I can’t say anymore because I don’t want to ruin it.

I mean, I get it you’re in love with him. Can we move on to something more interesting? And this is coming from someone who LOVES romance. It just has to be written well I suppose!

I felt very disconnected to the story and the characters. I wasn’t captivated much at all. I just didn’t really care for this book. The writing was okay and there was creativity with it, but it just didn’t do anything for me. It says a lot that, while reading, I was looking forward to finishing the book, when it is written in verse and reads very quickly.

I just finished “I Fall Apart” this morning, after seeing Kenzie at Book Bonanza. Wow is all I can say.
This story is written in verse, which is not my usual read, but I have to admit, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed being able to insert myself into the story and the experience.
While reading, I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I squealed in excitement. Four and a half gold stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
