I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review is all my opinion.

' Every warrior,'' he continued to say ''needs true motivation. During difficult times ahead, a sense of duty will only take you so far.''

I think this book will be loved by a lot of people because it has popular tropes that people usually like. I actually found this to be okay, I didn't like it or hate it. And here are my reasons:

The book was so much more than its blurb. It began with an enthralling dread with the main character, Nadira Holden, crawling out of her grave and then fighting off a vampire. Going back home, she had a few surprises, her father had disappeared, people had changed, magic was more prevalent, and lo and beholddemons and humans lived side by side after signing the treaty. It was almost as if it was a new world, a new era... And Nadira had to learn and adjust and find herself

And boy, did she have

This Time started off slow but interesting, and with a lot of information. Besides the slow start, it was paced rather well and the action helped to keep it going. There was one part where it stumbled a bit and felt like the story didn't know it's own direction but that quickly resolved. The world building was great and I really enjoyed how the characters were developed. Nadira is kickass! Overall, This Time is a unique and enjoyable quick read.

This Time started out with a heart-gripping scene but I also thought that it was a great way to understand where Nadira Holdens state of mind was. My knowing her inner thoughts helped me to know that she thought that she was either being tested or that the demons that she and her teammates routinely hunted had managed to somehow get her into a compromising position. She had no idea that any significant amount of time had passed and she was left confused by her current situation but figured that ...more

The synopsis hooked me. Bring on the paranormal goodness!!

The story grabbed my attention from the start as you follow Nadira who has woken up 20 years into the future. She struggles to finds answers AND deal with the fact she lost many years of her life. Theres a twist I didnt see coming and I appreciated that. While I was a bit confused at first, it added much to Nadiras story. Nice job Miss Davis! The story is fast paced and theres plenty of action as well. This is a quick and fun type of

Every warrior [] needs true motivation. During the difficult times ahead, a sense of duty will only take you so far.

Waking up buried inside a coffin wasn't the way Nadira imagined her morning. It's definitely not the most glorious way to wake up for anyone, especially for a legendary demon hunter. She can only imagine how disappointed the rest of Children of Orion will be to find out that she let herself be kidnapped. Now, she has to find a way to escape and figure out what the hell

I had a great opportunity to do this as a buddy read with my great friend Jodie at Witty and Sarcastic Book Club. She plows through books like a fiend and if you haven't checked out her site you really should. She is a fabulous reviewer and reads all the cool stuff.

I have read a lot of urban fantasy, I mean a lot. I adore the genre. It hits that spot of fun and fantasy. This story hits a lot of those fun spots. The great kick-ass heroine that channels a bit of the Mercy Thompson vibes with some

This was the second book that I won in my book reading club. ^_^

Has a trigger. If youre afraid of the idea of being buried alive or waking up in a coffin, the first chapter may be a little much for you.

It took a while for me to get into enjoying the book. Azaaa introduces a world that the main character doesnt know because shes been dead for 25 years so I was as confused as the main character, even though I knew what the year was like

A young woman who's been raised as a demon hunter wakes up buried in a grave yard, only to discover she's been dead for 20 years ... and that's just the first of the things she never knew about herself.
A well written urban fantasy with lots of action, interesting characters, a villain you'll love to hate and just enough loose ends to make you anxious to get hold of the next story in the series without leaving you with frustrating cliffhangers.
I enjoyed this one and would love to find out what

Demon Hunter or Demon?

Azaaa Daviss This Time is great blend of paranormal and a kind of coming of age story with a twist of are you kidding me great twists. Nadira/Roquelle gives new meaning to the term multiple personality. As she/they come to terms with who they are and start to work together, the world is faced with demons, a particularly nasty demon prince and a hot demon Duke were sure to see in future books. Despite a few editing errors, This Time is a great read and I look forward to

This Time was a debut novel I couldn't wait to read. Nadira Holden is an MC that holds your attention right from the start, and keeps you involved in what's happening. Interesting twists and turns keep you on your toes right through out the book. A must read. I cant wait for the second one!

This was one of those highly anticipated debut novels that held so much promise, from the author who was perfectly capable of delivering that promise. And wow did she deliver... All I can say is that my lucky streak of great books continues.
I don't even know where to start. The authors writing is superb. Her characters are not all lovable but all are well developed. The plot is complex and original. The world the author created is grim, full of betrayal, intrigue, some backstabbing, and a lot

This Time: A Nadira Holden Novel, is a Debut, Urban Fantasy book by Azaaa Davis and the first of a series. The story revolves around Nadira Holden, a young New York native and demon hunter, who dies in the 20th century and wakes up in the 21st century. As with such story lines, the one who wakes up from the dead almost, always, finds that life went on and times changed, while they seemingly remained stuck in their pre-death state.
The case is no different for Nadira, described as a Child of

In this novel we are introduced to Nadira Holden, who was killed during the war between humans and demons. Or so everyone thought. She is resurrected in the present day, where humans and magical beings are living together peacefully. But humans are starting to disappear, and when her father vanishes, Nadira sets out to track them down.
The opening of the novel was brilliantly done. We begin with Nadira waking up and the slow realisation of her being inside a coffin. It was a very tense,

This Time is about Nadira Holden, a demon hunter. The book starts off fast-paced and exciting. We learn about Nadiras upbringing and belonging to the Children of Orion, a sect of demon hunters. She had a reputation as a top notch demon hunter but something happens, she dies, and then she is resurrected in present day, and things have definitely changed in the world the live in.

When the blurb of this book compares it to Anita Blake, I can see why, except Nadira is much more

This Time wastes absolutely no time diving into the depths of a strange and unknown reality, where demons and humanity appear to be coexisting within the same reality. We're introduced to this world by Nadira Holden, who wakes in a casket, digs her way out, only to find out it isn't some horrible joke; she has been dead for 25 years, and a lot has changed since she was a demon hunter, and, you know, alive.

When the author offered me a review copy, I was immediately intrigued by the premise. I'm always interested in the plots that involve an MC ending up somehow out of time and younger than their peers. And Nadira has that in spades. The emotional depth she feels in her struggles at being resurrected are intense. I felt for her on so many levels. It was your classic tale of a character raised to be a killer wanting more to life, but it didn't feel over the top in it's angst. Nadira is strong, ...more

Azaaa asked me to review her novel for her and I am so utterly glad I did. Once I started reading it I couldnt put it down, I was reading it any chance I got. She doesnt disapoint at all, most books I find I think are way too short and there could be more to it. But no this author creates this world full or creatures and humans and hybreds. The story unfolds beautifully and has an amazing plot with begining middle and end thaht doesnt leave you wanting.

While a little slow at the beginning, this action packed urban fantasy/modern fantasy novel picks up its pace and delivers a stunning ending.

Told in third person, the story is a little less immediate than Im used to in this genre.

Nadira is quite a fascinating character, the best of the best, it was interesting to see such an archetype flounder in the modern era, after being dead for the last 25 years or so.

Her counterpart, Roquelle, was more interesting to me. Shes a succubus, like the mc from

My greatest fear is to be buried alive. Imagine waking up, finding yourself confined in a small space with little to no air, no light, no choice. From this moment on I knew this author was going to stretch me and she did. The story is a great blend of twist and whirls with a boat load of world building built into the story. Nadira has returned from the dead and no it isn't days later like she thinks but 25 years. Not only has time progressed without her, there are plenty of surprises and action ...more

Demon hunting adventures with a touch of dark romance...

Nadira Holden is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Renowned for her skills as a demon hunter, she finds herself a misfit in a world where demons have made peace with humans and hunting them is illegal. Despite all the unanswered questions about herself, her place in the world, and her former demon hunting associates in the secretive Children of Orion organisation, Nadira knows she must take up the fight at least one more time in order

This Time by Azaaa Davis is an incredible debut novel. Azaaas world-building is in-depth and meticulously crafted. The characters are solid and believable. As for the storyline, it draws you in and keeps you reading just one more page.

I found the premise of demons and demon-hunters to be intriguing but not caricatured. The author can pull empathy from you for many of the leading characters, whether they are good or bad. How true that we all have those traits inside us. Just like Nadira, we dont

Weve all woken up on the wrong side of the bed. However, when Nadira woke up from her slumber, she had every reason to be bitchy.

1.) Nadira clawed her way out of a buried coffin.

2.) Recently resurrected, she was in a constant battle with hunters and demons. That is when she wasnt being held captive.

3.) It was revealed shed been dead for 25 years. Everyone has aged, unlike herself.

4.) Bombshells keep getting thrown at

This Time by Azaaa Davis is the first in a urban fantasy trilogy. It's hard to fully comment on the book without revealing a ton of spoilers. However, I think the reveals within the story are artfully done and I really did like the protagonist, Nadira. My biggest critique is that some of the fight/attack scenes felt brutal for shock value more so than for necessity, but that's a personal preference. Oh, and two of the secondary characters have names that are too similar (Devon, Derek) so I kept ...more
