I love Jen Rogue. Love, love, love her.
Her poetry is like the alternate reality I live in most of the time - Romanticizing sadness, finding beauty in brokenness, making poetry out of pain. Her poems make me want to crawl inside and live there, in this fictional land of feeling. I especially loved the organization of this poetry collection, featuring the stages of grief and the poems at the end for her readers' breakups. I feel like I've gotten to know friends better through their heartaches and

J.R. Rogue writes heartbreaking pain into beautiful poetry with Breakup Poems. This stunning new release is emotional, the poems had me reminiscing on past loves and riding the waves of emotion alongside her as she unraveled the heavy feelings.

"I am only worth chasing when I am running away"

Split into six chapters; denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, and rebellion, Breakup Poems tackles the hard hurts, like cheating, first love, div

Jen makes my heart pound without even trying. Poignant, stunning, and packing hard punches, Break Up Poems has all of the words us women need.

Even her two lined poem brought out all of my feelings. This compilation of poems shook me when I least expected it.

This collection is titled appropriately. I love the format. I love the content. The art within the book as chapter breaks. Just an all around solid piece from JR Rogue. Her pain is palpable. I am aching.

Love the poems she did for the other breakups at the end.

Rogue continues to pull at all my emotions, this time with Breakup Poems.

“I write you as a forest fire”
Ugh. The feels.

From her choice of words, to her rhythm, to her sucker punch endings, Rogue really k ones how to make you hurt in all the best ways.

Poetry intimidates the mess out of me because while reading it, I start to feel as if it means something I can't quite figure out.

In the case of J R Rogue's poems, though, I connect with them so viscerally that I don't care if she's talking about something other than what I'm feeling.

The title tells you the theme of this collection, and Rogue wastes no time in thrusting you into the pain of a breakup. There are so many lines that dug into me that it's difficult to pick my favorites. But here are

Okay, so I have a very unpopular opinion.
I’m in the minority as everyone else rated this collection 3 stars or above, I’m the first 2 star review...yikes!

I absolutely loved the first poem but then it went downhill from there. I personally couldn’t connect to the other poems, but I did see Rogue’s spark of talent within the poetry. I just couldn’t help feeling really disappointed.

I haven’t read a poetry collection like this, all centred around heartbreak and loss of love. The collection was spl

Another poetic homerun for J.R. Rogue. Another five-star read. I recognized some of the titles as writing prompts which was awesome to see. As always, the writing is unmatched by most contemporaries. Rogue reaches new heights with aesthetic (that COVER! Those interior images!), cohesiveness, and branding. Love that it was set against the stages of grief. I got excited when I saw this is noted as "volume 1." That means there's more to come and I cannot wait.

Line(s) that made me sigh/melt:

I've always loved J. R.'s words, but this collection makes you feel every ache and twinge along the way.
I'd been looking forward to this for a long time and it fully lived up to my hopes.

JRR's writing is always amazing. There isn't enough praise I can give that will give her justice. Her writing always has the right words to say and she always says what you need to hear. She is incredibly talented and I always look forward to her writing, whether it is in poetry or as a novel.

Like all of Jen's work, Breakup Poems packs a punch. This time right to the breaking heart after breaking up. She covers every emotion I think we all go through when losing something precious to us. And when you read some, it's just not losing a significant other, it could be losing yourself. Some will hit home, some will cause you to hurt for others but all will make you pause, take a deep breath and realize she's talking to all of us at some point.

“wonder if I will feel it when he lets go”

Rogue is one of those writers who has words for the things you feel but can’t decipher. She’s the reason I read poetry. It takes a lot of gall to share heartbreak with strangers, and I’m glad she has the strength to do it. Her work opens doors, invites truth inside, and even stays for the healing. Read her words. You won’t be sorry.

Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading this. Jen stuns with her words. She draws you in and doesn’t let go, not even at the end.

This book is divided into six sections: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, and rebellion (the dedication section). Of the six, I felt the words in “Depression” the most. Every word speaks it as though the author knows it well, knows it best. In “I Don’t Cry,” she says, “I am only worth chasing when I am running away.” Isn’t this the truth?

But “Acceptan

These poems are eye opening, soul searching lyrics written with so much love, heartache and tears that you instantly fall in love with them.

Each poem was different and unique. I didn’t know what to expect. Some made me cry while others made me teary eyed. My eyes so blurry with emotion that I didn’t know if I could continue on. I’m so glad I did. I will go back often to read this. I don’t know what it is about J.R. Rogue but I can’t stop reading her words. They speak to me in ways others don’t.

I devoured Breakup Poems in one sitting.....

Something about Rogue's words inspires in me frenzied need to read faster and faster, as if the next page will disappear before I get there.

J.R. Rogue has perfectly captured the stages of the heart and mind before, during, and after a breakup.

I will reread this collection at a slower pace once my heart recovers.

i'm not good with words - ironic since i'm a poet too - but rogue is. there's a hidden strength in her writing, a treasure of sorts. it's everything i felt when i got my heart broken the first time. and the second time. how does she write like this? it never loses it's strength, not for a second

I can honestly say that as poet, I am often lost between the lines of J.R. Rogue. I love how she beautifully weaves her pain between each word, leaving the reader to feel each emotion she is writing to leave on the paper. I have read a few of her books, and like the previous books she has published, this one was just as heartfelt and well-written.

Recommends it for: anyone interested in the pains of heartbreak
Good writers give you love songs. Brave writers give you the breakup poems. In her newest collection of poetry, “Breakup Poems”, J.R. Rogue takes us along the aching, slow-burning process of transitioning from “we are” to “we were”, from “us” back to “me”. And she does it without mincing words, which makes it all the more tactful & impactful.

The opening chapter (Denial) is a salvo equivalent to calling your old beloved “Baby”, out of the habit of your heart, and regretting it immediately.

I have been a sucker for poetry for years. Sometimes, I just don't get it though, and it becomes a chore to read it. "Breakup Poems" by J.R. Rogue is the complete opposite of a chore. I was turning the pages so fast I could barely keep up. Each poem pulled me in and had me wanting more. It didn't matter if it was a three line or twenty line poem, they all made me feel. They opened me up and made me look at my own life and love.

I don’t tend to read poetry often, I just haven’t read an author whose work speaks to me in that genre.... well this author, she speaks to my soul. She gets me.

She writes reality- the raw, gritty, downright painful truth whether you are ready to hear it or not and that’s what’s great about her work.

She appeals to all of your sense with such select words and makes you feel as if she’s been a friend for years, because what she’s written... it’s so raw and honest that it’s as if she’s looking throu

This collection keeps with Rogue’s visceral way of digging into her truths through writing, like few others can do. She is constantly pulling at the darkness of all her heart aches by holding the rise and fall of past relationships under the lens of a microscope that seeks to heal through self reflection and hard honesty. And although this collection is of her truths, like always, Jen delivers them without alienating her readers. She strikes that perfect balance where a poem can be both the writ ...more

This was my first time reading a book of Jen’s poems, I had been drawn to her words on social media over the last couple of years, being pleasantly surprised with the impact her words had on me. I have never been a poetry lover, possibly because I find I have a hard time understanding them, but she may just be changing my mind one poem at a time. This collection of poems was REAL, the honesty of the stages a break up goes through. The words making you feel the denial, the anger and the depressio ...more

"love is a liar & I lick salt from her sternum"

Breakup Poems will bring you through the five stages of grief in a poetic, unfiltered way, with an additional section at the end for her devoted readers.

Each section (or stage) resonated with me in a way that momentarily stopped my heart, stole away my breath. This is the power Rogue has, pulling you into her words, her truth, her ache. Wrapping you in her wounds while soothing yours. This is the kind of poetry book you will find yourself read

Gosh Rogue!!!! There were several quotable pieces in this collection. And the many poems back to back to back cause an insane amount of emotion to be pulled from me. I can't get over how I feel so drained so broken after reading these. IN A GOOD WAY. The way you feel after a good cry. Cathartic.

Rogues work is always inspiring and emotional. This book is no different. Her feelings drip off the pages. One after another you can feel the tide as it g

Breakup Poems was the first of Jen’s poem collections I’ve read, and man what a way to start.
Each poem took my emotions on a rollercoaster that I didn’t want to get off. This book is divided into six parts to show the reader the different levels of grief: DENIAL ANGER BARGAINING DEPRESSION ACCEPTANCE and REBELLION.
As someone who suffers from a long battle with depression that section was the one that hit me the hardest with one of my favourite lines from I DON’T CRY “I am only worth chasing wh

Woah... this is the first book of poems I’ve read by JR Rogue. Even though I’ve read several of her novels and know the beauty that is her writing... I still wasn’t prepared for the raw and breathless heart that this collection of Breakup Poems left me with. It truly astounds me how JR Rogue can take 26 letters and manipulate them into various words and streams of thoughts and will leave me feeling wrecked... gutted... lost. She’s a true word master.

Every time I read Jen's poetry I'm at a loss for words. Her poems are so gut wrenchingly beautiful. I feel every single emotion through her words. From loss, pain, heartache, and love.

Poignant, raw, stunning and packed with feeling. Pure vulnerability dripping from each page. Breakup Poems grabbed me by the heart, bruised my soul and soothed me all the same. A collection of poems that spoke to me in so many ways
