My husband pushed back his chair and dropped to his knees in front of me. His head bowed — he spoke in a stream like a prayer.
“I die when I am in the past, how dost ye know when tae declare me dead? You could decide it, call me dead, and I canna blame ye for it. Because I am. But I daena want tae be, I want tae live — with ye.” — Magnus 1702
There are things left undone. Magnus must go home and Kaitlyn must go with him.
Because it’s not enough for her to guide from afar. He needs her voice in his ear. They know now they are stronger together.
He raised his eyes to mine and for a second time stood still. My mind said breathlessly, “Yes.” And I swore I could hear him say, inside my head, deep and resonating, “Aye.” — Kaitlyn 2018
But Magnus learns there are cruel limits to his protection.
Kaitlyn learns how dangerous it is to be responsible for a family.
And together they learn that they have been at the mercy of someone far more brutal than they imagined.
A contemporary romance with way more 18th century history and a bit more SciFi, Warrior of My Own is the third book in the Kaitlyn and the Highlander series.
If you love mysterious, sexy, hunky heroes with desperate hearts and romantic thoughts, heroines with courage who are also very ordinary disasters, and love stories that encompass all time, then you’ll love this romantic series. Read on as Kaitlyn and Magnus begin as a family by picking up a copy of Book 1 today.

Overall I like this better than the first 2 installments. The story keeps getting more interesting and there are new mysteries to pique my interest. Kaitlyn still has her annoying moments but I forgive her for being human and struggling with stressful situations. There was adventure, light hearted fun and heart break with a lots of questions.
I look forward to book 4 for some answers.
I received an advanced review copy in exchange for an unbiased review.
The writing in this book is better than the previous two. I’m interested in seeing what happens next though I’m slightly annoyed that the story isn’t wrapped up yet. The author should read Diana Gabaldon’s book about writing a good sex scene. There are several in this book but they are always fluffy and hazy. Best lol line: I kind of needed to poop too.
Book 3 is the best one so far. Lots of action, never a dull moment. You definitely have to read the first two books before you read this. I'm dying for the next one!
The story is definitely getting better. I found myself with my earbuds in every minute I got. I got addicted to the series. So many things happened again. Magnus's mother showed up too and I didn't think about her too kindly. She behaved pretty maliciously. A few questions were ansvered by her but I'm sure there's more to it as she tended to behave very selfishly thus far, seeking only her own gain. Kaitlyn and Magnus's lives are not full of happiness, they have tragedies and difficulties to fight. I'm really interested where this adventure brings them next.
Once again, I loved Keira Stevens's narration. She did the accents and different characters' voices perfectly.
In this one, Kaitlyn (our modern heroine) goes back in time with her hunky husband, Magnus, to help fight his battles in 18th-century Scotland. And does time travel suck, with it being body-shaking, followed by a lack of toilets, antibiotics, etc.
When she's kidnapped, the book really starts to drag, but, hey, at least Kaitlyn had her cell phone with her before that to take photos in the 1700s!
And, of course, Kaitlyn's trip back to the past is screwed up by her scary mother-in-law, Lady Mairead. But, no matter, because there's ice cream and Disney World after that!
All in all, it was OK, but not as entertaining as the first two books in this series.
The story is good and if Kaitlyn wasn't such a crybaby, cupcake I would give it another star. She cries about everything and that takes away from the serious stuff that is sad. I am not a fan of the uber strong, bullheaded female character but geeze can she deal with anything without being a total doormat? I am gonna give it one more book for her to grow up and put her woman panties on before I give up on her.
2.5 ⭐️ The most enjoyable book in the series thus far. Character development for Magnus was great, and Lady Mairead was a fun pop of malicious intent, which made the book a lot smoother to digest and read through. We finally learn about Magnus’s father and how he plays along to the time machines, I’ll be excited to read more about the promise Magnus made to him and Lady Mairead.
Kaitlyn, unfortunately, was the worst character. With her lack of common knowledge and wit, she made the entire book more trouble then it was worth. I still don’t understand what Magnus sees in her, besides the high sex drive, but it’s becoming aggressively annoying how “strong” she thinks she is. To compare your YouTube success as one of the reasons you’re strong… there’s something wrong there. And then the entire lack of common knowledge with birth control. You just can’t be that dumb. I really hope the author is going to turn her character around.
Lastly- the many similarities to the Outlander series is tiresome. Claire looses her first child, Kaitlyn looses her first child. Claire was kidnapped, Kaitlyn was kidnapped. Magnus has a strong witted sister who speaks her mind, Jamie has a strong headed sister who speaks her mind. Lizbeth’s son is also named Jamie.. I just can’t handle it sometimes lol. I understand taking inspiration from the series, but I’m hoping this is the last of the similarities.
The danger-filled, dramatic love story continues! 5 stars overall, 5 stars narration, 5 stars overall
After listening to this third book of this “Kaitlyn and the Highlander” series, I am still addicted to it and I have already bought the next one. I really enjoy the writing, including the lovable characters, the passionate love story (moderately steamy), the action, and the unpredictability. This book has a really interesting plot twist that really impressed me. I love the dynamic between Kaitlyn and Magnus. As always, the narrator Keira Stevens does a marvelous job with all of the voices, accents, pacing, and everything.
I want to warn readers that instead of the usual peaceful ending, this one is a heart-wrenching ending that leaves many more questions in the air than usual in this series. Also, the angst level has increased in this book. There is occasional graphic violence that is at a slightly higher level than in the previous two books. I recommend that readers continue with this series since I enjoyed it so much.
I requested and received a free audiobook copy via #AudiobookObsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Title: Warrior of My Own Author: Diana Knightley Format: Audio Narrator: Kiera Stevens Genre: Time Travel Romance Standalone: No - Ends at a jumping off point for the next book Part of a Series: Book 3 of the Kaitlyn and the Highlander series POV: Kaitlyn Steam Level: Steamy at times 5/5
I'm thoroughly addicted to this series and want to binge the rest! The adventures continue to Kaitlyn and Magnus in both the past and the present. Old enemies show themselves, new family is met, and we find out more about the time travel device and how it works. I feel like Warrior of My Own is the last of the set up for this incredible series and it's about to get insane. I love the relationship between Magnus and Kaitlyn. The verbal sparring, actual sparring and intelligence in the characters is a blast to read/listen to. Kiera Stevens does a fantastic job of narrating, slipping into Magnus's accent with ease.
I received this book for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Not going to lie, I enjoy these. But just as soon as I settle into really enjoying them Kaitlyn becomes a friggin' ninny again and cries and sobs and generally is a pain in the ass more than anyone I have ever read about, encountered, and the misfortune of knowing...sigh. I am a very compassionate person. I am a healing professional and I have to say, that if any wise alien came to intercede on our planet and made the mistake of assuming all earth women were like Kaitlyn in the whiny sense of the word, they would keep on driving by.
Actually, if she ever has to spend much time back in the 1770's the women there might just decide to put her out of her misery because clearly she would be failure to thrive.
I put down the book and go read something else every time she starts shrieking about being a monster to the evil-doer at the time. Oh so effective. Sigh. Call them a poop-head, Kaitlyn! That will really get them. Sigh.
Of course, I have not time-traveled anywhere. But Magnus, WTF?
I thought Kaitlyn and Magnus would finally have some kind of relief from all that tension and drama but this time it seems that Magnus has to go back in time and he's doing this willingly to rescue his brother because of the circumstances in which Kaitlyn and Magnus had to flee did have consequences.
I haven't talked about how freaking much I love the other characters we have that really make Kaitlyn and Magnus' real family, formed through genuine bonds.
I'm talking about Zach and Emma who have become their family and I freaking love their support and yes they work for Magnus and kaityln yet that doesn't define what they have become to them.
Quentin too, I love how he has gone from being just a part of the friends gangs of Kaitlyn to being the head of security to magnus, to him too, being part of their inner circle.
The Audiobooks are really making me feel the emotions so strongly as Keira Stevens has done such an amazing job, even magnus' voice, she has done amazingly.
I seriously am loving this series. Onto the next one.
I listened to the Audible version. This is not a stand alone book. You must read Kaitlyn and the Highlander and Time and Space Between Us in order for this one to make sense. In addition, this book ends with more unanswered questions than the first two and it doesn't pause the story in a very comfortable place (in other words, I wanted to start the fourth one right away). Warrior of My Own is a good continuation of Magnus and Kaitlyn's story, but it's definitely not over yet.
As far as the audio, everything I wrote about the performance of the second book holds true for the third one. Keira Stevens does a great job with the narration making it really easy to listen to the story. I don't speak Gaelic so I have no idea if she's doing it right, but I give her a lot of credit for making it sound easy.
In this book, Magnus and Kaitlyn have been dealing with time separation the best they can, But the action has been turned up and I was hanging on the edge of my seat so much as I listened. Kaitlyn is growing on me still. But Magnus is a dream and Kaitlyn is so lucky to have caught him. These two are better together, but the danger that surrounds them brings so much suspense. I really like the direction their relationship is growing in. I cannot wait to hear more about them as they face unknown struggles.
Keira Stevens consistently has a wonderful performance with these stories. Keira really seems to connect to the characters and brings them to life. As she narrates, I find myself getting lost in it and I feel as if I am a part of the story. Keira creates a fun escape from the real world into the world of Kaitlyn and Magnus through her narration.
This third installment in the Kaityln and the Highlander series is another fun continuation of their adventures together. We get more time travel, more pop culture differences, more Highland intrigue. We're set up for Magnus to take another trip back in time in the next installment.
I really enjoy the world that Diana Knightley has created, and the juxtaposition of the 21st century and the 18th century. Even things like how would a modern woman prepare for a known trip back to the past are discussed, often with hilarious results.
Keira Stevens does a wonderful job bringing Kaityln's spirit to life. Looking forward to more in the series.
In this thrid book in the series - we gete to know more about the characters of Kaitlyn and Magnus as well about his evil mother. Together, they travel back in time and Kaitlyn gets to meet the rest of his family and see some of what his time was like. Traveling back to the present they are faced with a dilemma. To save Magnus, Kaitlyn has agreed to allow him to travel with is mother to the future as her warrior. While I knew that this book would not provide an end to the story, I wasn't expecting a sad ending. It only makes you want to find book 4 and begin reading ASAP.
I LOVE this series and fall in love with Magus more and more at every turn. in this book, they go back in time to save Magus brother and this is an enormous tasks that brings them together as a couple. The book shows you more of the loving relationship that Magus and Kaitlyn have and you can't help but fall more in love with them. The save the day, fight a war, she gets kidnapped and saved, and the book ends with a deal brokered with basically the devil (i.e., Magus mother!) - the book is amazing a real page turned and keeps you wanting more and more of the characters.
There seemed to be more heartbreak in this installment of the series. It has been a while since I read a series where each of the books ends in a cliffhanger, but Knightley's writing has pulled me through each book and on to the next one. The found family in Florida has grown stronger with each book and that is a big part of what is keeping me interested in the story. I did find myself wishing that Magnus could bring his brother and sister into the future because I liked those characters, as well.
Kaitlyn and Magnus love is undeniably stronger when they are together. Their growing deeper with each story. Magnus is force to be reckoned with. His courage, protective nature of Kaitlyn and family is undeniable. I cant say enough, how much I'm loving this series. Murder, mystery, kidnapping, betrayals, tragedy, danger. and a heart wrenching ending that had me sobbing . Tissues are definitely needed. Kiera Stevens is flawless in her narration. Her accents, voices emotions are perfection. 🎧audiobookobsessionreview🎧
Book 3 of a series. A romantic fiction. Kaitlyn goes back in time to Scotland with Magnus to rescue Sean. She gets kidnapped by a group of angry men who work for Lady Mildraed, Magnus rescues her and brings Kaitlyn back to the Twentieth Century. Not before Lady Mildraed's men beat Magnus to a pulp and not before the angry men terrorize Kaitlyn. After they are home Kaitlyn gets pregnant and they are happy for a moment before disaster strikes. I keep thinking one more book and then I think one more. It's relaxing and a quick read.
I read the first two books and couldn't put them down, I usually read about MC bikers but I saw an add for these books and decided to give it a try. I was introduced to Outlander by my daughter , so seeing this title I became interested. I love the characters of Magnus and Kaitlyn , their banging back and forth, the love they share its just so great. I laughed and cried in this story , its magical and its also very mysterious. I recommend it with a 5 Star review
They go back in time to rescue Sean, and Rory Magnus ' brother in law is killed. Lady Mildraed kidnaps them and makes them promise to let Magnus fight for his father. She puts a gold collar on Kaitlyn to make sure they keep their promise. Kaitlyn gets pregnant, and Lady Mildraed shows up. She takes off the collar. They feel the baby move and find out that it's a boy. Unfortunately Kaitlyn miscarries .
So, book 1 was rather silly but still entertaining. Book 2 was more substantive, the silliness was still there but not so in your face, the romance was lovely and the adventure began. This book #3 took it to another level again and I was quite impressed. The characters are lovely, the adventure and the story became quite compelling and even though it was only a 4 hour read, it was very satisfying. On to book 4!
The best in the series so far. This is an entertaining series for sure. Yes Kaitlyn can be irritating but I also think she has grown tremendously. Its like she is a " Millennial" but life circumstances are making her step up. I have grown to like her and laugh at her little spoiled ways.
That being said I do not like the guy part of the narration. I wish they would go back to just the female narrator.
Still up in the air with this series by book 3 maybe I should shelf it
So I mostly listen to this book it has some Scottish accent and words that are better to listen to then read. I liked the book and series so far but I'm not in love with the characters. I still feel like it has a lot in common with the Outlander series but the plot line is a little different. I'm still up in the air about continuing with this series.
I am distraught. I love Magnus and Kaitlyn. These are so well written that I feel like they are real. That this story could really happen. That they are part of my family. I can't believe I have to wait to know what happens next. Good job Diana Knightley! Please write fast and true!
I started this series just 4 days ago and didn't want to stop. I used to read quite a bit of historical fiction, including the paranormal genre but haven't in quite some time. This series had me hooked right from the star. The witty, smart-mouthed and funny heroine and the alpha, Scottish highlander; the perfect combination. Now I have to wait a month for the next installment (sad face).
I am hooked on this orginal time travel series!! I had a few issues at first but Knightley has really pulled the story together!! Well written, excellent character development and world-building!! And although I hate the cliffhanger I do like the way she ends each book!! Really getting into not only going back in time but now going into the future!! On to book 4!!
I still love them. I love the characfers,BUT I really want to hear from Magnus. The stories fall flatter with only Kaitlyn speaking. I feel like we will never know what Magnus feels when he looks at Kaitlyn, touches her or makes love to her. Kaitlyn is becoming bland...
