After two failed seasons in town, May Stanford sees her future no longer with her family, but in a nearby convent where she'll not be anyone's financial burden. But before she can embark on her new life, May must complete her dealings with the local smugglers, men who have kept a roof over her family's head during frugal times. One last Christmas at home and her life would change forever. So when William Scott, the Earl of Grandison arrives and crumbles her perfectly planned future to rubble, May is less than pleased.

William, Lord Grandison works for the Crown, and is determined to catch the nuisance Englishmen who dare smuggle along the Cornwall coast. William has never veered from his pursuit of these men working against the law, that was until he meets May Stanford, the maddening daughter of his host for Christmas. May drives him to distraction and forces him to admit to feelings he has never felt before.

But when May and William discover the crippling truth of each other, their secrets will threaten to tear them apart.

His Lady Smuggler started off well for me, it had me curious to see how the storyline would play out, but the deeper into the story I got, the less I was enjoying it. It wasn’t a bad read, it simply felt rushed to me. I feel this is one of those short stories that would have done much better as a full-length novel, allowing us to see more of the elements involved.

With this one, there was a lot of possibility. I was pulled right into the character’s stories, excited to see all the elements that would come into play. The first couple of chapters were a lot of fun, providing details that I wanted to see more of. Then, everything started to happen. There were elements that seemed to come out of nowhere, making sense in the story but without enough build-up. Things played out in an interesting way, but I wasn’t given enough detail to be completely satisfied.

As my first Tamara Gill read, His Lady Smuggler has left me curious about the author’s other work. At the same time, it was not enough to push the author’s work to the top of my to-read list.

Awesome

This was one of the sweetest stories I've read. The whirlwind romance was so hot and steamy. I also love May's independence and William's strong spirit. This is definitely a must read.

Delightful

I enjoyed May and William's story. May, Tamara Gill's strong heroine, finds a different future than the one she planned. Entertaining dialogue between May and William. I recommend A Christmas in Cornwall: A Regency Christmas Novella to those that enjoy the 1800s.

It was simple, short, and sweet, just like I expected. Nothing special, but still enjoyable.

Electric chemistry, smugglers, secrets all made for a novella I devoured in a sitting, I loved it

Set in Cornwall, Willliam, Earl of Grandison has a mission. It really was rather simple, until he encountered May and found his plans in disarray. The lone visitor on her stretch of coast upends May's intention to enter a convent, making her rethink her purpose in life. This romance has all the push and pull of attraction between two strongminded people, and although it may appear that they will not overcome their differences, the story does come to a happy close.

Save your money and your time. It’s been awhile since I’ve read something cringingly awful. From grammatical and punctuation errors to the display of the author’s complete lack of research, this is cover to cover balderdash. “She crossed herself with the sign of the cross.” Uhm, DUH. What else would she cross herself with...milk, milk, lemonade? This book is part of a series that I won’t be reading unless I’m drunk or stoned, at which point I’m sure I’ll find it incredibly humorous.

His Lady Smuggler

Lady May helps her childhood smuggler keep the things in a cave on the beach her father owns. William Scott, Earl of Grandison came to visit. She and he fell in love but he worked for the crown and wanted the smugglers. He asked her to stop but she refused so he left. Her smuggler friend then took her to will’s ship.

I purchased this as part of a two novella bundle by this author called HIGH SEAS AND HIGH STAKES SERIES BUNDLE.

No character development, more of a story of how quickly can I get into your pants. No romance, plenty of steam and no credible story line. (ljb)

Great love story

I always love stories involving the sea. My late husband was a sailor with the USNAVY and visited Australia in 1967. We were corresponding with a family but lost track of them. Thank you for your sweet stories.

This book was hot and spicy. The only thing wrong was that it was too short. I would have like to have more insight into these two and more of a story line.

May Stanford, an independent young lady that lived in Cornwall on her father's estate did what she felt was necessary to raise funds to save the family estate for her younger brother, including smuggling.

The love develops quickly, the struggle about the smuggling causes problems and to top that off May plans to become a nun so not to become a burden to her family estate as she grows older. It seemed these two had impossible problems to find love and you will need to read the short novella to find out how they solved them.

A pleasant read with steamy scenes but still only an ok read for me. I have more books to read by this author. I have just recently read books by Lisa Kleypa, Katie Macalister, and Elizabeth Hoyt to name only a few and rate accordingly, compared to them.

A sweet story and quite short. An independent young woman goes after what she wants. Not a common story for this time period.
