Ms. Erwin -- My husband and I drove up to North Carolina this past weekend and I had the opportunity to read your book. I have to tell you that I could not put it down! I was mesmerized by Annie’s character – you truly brought her to life! In my professional life, I have seen women with a similar problem; I could actually “see” Annie’s facial expressions and body language as I read the words that you wrote. I could also “see” some of your personality peeking through! You should be proud of your work – I look forward to reading your next novel.

"If that happened to me, what would I do?" That was the question Shadow of Silence forced me to contemplate over and over again. Watching Annie navigate through the hand that life dealt her was a rollercoaster ride. Although she questions and second guesses, she charges forward with a bravery and strength that only a mother can know. I very much enjoyed the journey and Judith Erwin's insightful look at the broad range of emotions that one event can bring.

This is more then a 5*... I wanted to know the outcome of Annie's situation and if it would play out as positive or negative in her near perfect life. Should she have kept the lie?

Wow, I know the author of this book and it was fantastic. When I read the first pages I wondered if I liked the subject. But I had a difficult time laying the book down. I wanted to know the outcome of Annie's situation and if it would play out as positive or negative in her near perfect life. I was spellbound and completed it. My chores were put on hold until I read more and more and finally learned the outcome.

Good job Judy. I am waiting for your next book in December. But next time I think I want a signed copy.

I received this book through Goodreads. However, my candid review follows.

Shadow of Silence is an engrossing read. The chapters themselves are short, but they beg you to read on. I found the character Annie to be fascinating. Even from the first page, the writing captures the thoughts and emotions of Annie's psyche, providing a very evocative read.
I now would love to read more books by the author Judith Erwin!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. My boyfriend noticed how I was obsessed with it so he grabbed when I finished. Guess what, he loved the book also.

Annie is raped by her brother in law and decides to have an abortion because by exposing him she would ruin her sisters life and cause havoc to all involved. She doesn't tell her husband until years later when her niece is dealing with leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. She confronts the rapist who declares that he had a vasectomy years ago and couldn't be her son's father.
A quick read but almost too much drama!
