One Sultry Summer was a pretty fun oldie about Vicky who runs a kennel. She is left a part of it by her partner who died and the other part is left to his illegitimate son Race. Vicky is less than happy about it since she loves animals and the kennel is her dream. She has always felt loved and a sense of belonging with animals(parents were not very demonstrative).
Race is an architect and wants to build on the land but agrees to see how well the kennel does for the summer and then decide. The book was fun with swimming in the river, water fights, dog shenanigans etc. Vicky had some set ideas about men and it was good to see Race break them. She didn't want a man instead adoration like a dog and Race made her see that.

Really lagged at the beginning with exposition but then I began to enjoy the tension between the two main characters.
