Old hurt runs deep…

After she left, I was given a second chance at life thanks to my savior and adoptive father. A chance I refused to waste. Determined to be invincible, I became a true fighter in every sense of the word. Nothing and no one would get in my way.

Not even the guy who sat behind me in class.

Zack Graves had the entire world in his hands. A promising hockey career and the confidence and gorgeous looks that had every girl throwing themselves at his feet.

Except me. I was only too happy to wipe the sexy smirk off his face while tossing him on his smug ass.

And he kept coming back for more.

I kept my scars hidden, until Zack managed to trace the lines straight to a place I fought to keep guarded.

Zack was fighting his own immortality, his own scars becoming visible the closer we got. He challenged my guard at every turn forcing me to fight harder, only to realize he would be my undoing.

But some wounds refuse to heal.

“There is no love in fear.”

▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬⋆▬

“Don’t invest in someone who isn’t invested in you.”

O amor deles não me convenceu, não teve aquela química, sabe? Não consegui ver um sentimento realmente genuíno florescer entre os dois ao longo da história. Na verdade, eu senti um certo cansaço com o puxa-empurra e o vai e volta dessa relação.

“When you choose to stay hidden in the shadows, the light will never touch you, never fill you with its warmth.”

“All I’d ever wanted was your heart. It’s just a shame you don’t have one.”

Sweet Insanity was a lovely surprise and Desireé Adele nailed her debut. Sweet Insanity didn’t feel like a debut book whatsoever. I liked the topics in the story and how they affected the two protagonists Dahlia and Zack. Both have experienced loss in their life and that’s influenced them greatly. Especially Dahlia has had a rough upbringing but thankfully she has Christos in her life. I really enjoyed this wonderful man and the impact he and his family has had on Dahlia. She’s a survivor and warrior who doesn’t take crap from anyone. At least Zack.

Their first standoff between them was amazing and fun cause it truly showed the fierce side to Dahlia. Zack is such a good guy who’s relentless in his pursuit of Dahlia. His patience and humor are just one of the qualities I enjoyed about him.
Their friendship and relationship takes time because of Dahlia and the fears and insecurities she struggles with but I liked that. I got to know Zack and Dahlia individually and they both have strengths and flaws.

Sweet Insanity is all about facing your fears and lean on the people who loves and supports you. Both Zack and Dahlia learned from their mistakes and came out stronger because of that.
I’m excited about the next book cause this debut was fabulous and Keith definitely caught my attention.

**2.5 STARS**

I absolutely adore Desiree Adele! She is so sweet! So I hate that I can only allow myself to rate Sweet Insanity 2.5 STARS but I have to keep it 100% honest.

I was crazy excited to read her debut novel. It's alway nice to see bloggers and book tubers expand into writing.

The main characters were cute and had great chemistry which I enjoyed. Zack is the college hockey star and Dahlia is the tough girl afraid of love. It was cute. Neither one of them annoyed me and that's always a plus. I just didn't feel connected to them and that made it hard to become invested.

Unfortunately, the story felt extremely flat to me. I think it came down the predictability. I knew where the story was going very early on. I even knew how the story was going to play out as I read it. I wanted to be drawn into the world within the pages but that never happened.

I stopped reading the book to watch Moana (for the 6th time) and Thor: Ragnarok the same day I picked this one up. I'm a fast reader so I still finished it one day. I find that if you are completely engrossed within a book you connect with, watching a movie is completely off the table until you've finished.

Here's the thing - I have complete faith that Desiree's future novels will be amazing. For a debut novel, it was pretty decent. I look forward to reading the next one.

Remember to follow all things messy. . .

ARC from the author

I’m someone who rarely reads debut authors. To be honest, they make me nervous because I just don’t know what to expect. But I couldn’t resist Desiree Adele’s debut, Sweet Insanity. I’ve seen her review books on Unbound Book Reviews, and she gravitates to hard hitting books that move you. I had a feeling her offering would be no different, and I was right. This book was full of emotion and had characters battling inner demons that would be enough to bring anyone to their knees.

By the time we catch up with big man on campus Zack Graves, he’s over it. He wants something more even keeled and meaningful (as we discover as the book goes on,) and when Dahlia comes into his life like a whirlwind, he’s found it.

I loved both characters in this book, but it was really Zack, just by who he was, who stole my heart. The simple moments in life made him so happy, and I loved that about him. Dahlia really made him work for it, though not purposefully, and he did that effortlessly. There was no bitterness, no ill will…he pushed for what he knew she was capable of giving, but he did it without ever rushing her. He was so gentle with her, and it was something he just did and was. It wasn’t even anything he had to try to do. But on the other hand, he also wasn’t afraid to get in her face and tell her how things were. When he realizes this is a woman who needs to be pushed to react or show emotion, he steps right up to the challenge. But in the end, he was all about Dahlia’s choices. Even when those choices break his heart, he respects them.

Dahlia had so many emotional scars, and it would take someone like Zack with so much patience to pull back all the layers. She just wasn’t used to ‘good’ things, but man Zack worked to get her there. They offset each other so perfectly in this way; they were opposite and fiery, but when push came to shove, they were there for each other and wouldn’t let each other go. And what I really love is that when Dahlia goes in, she really goes all in and puts it outhere. There was no cat and mouse game, nor should there have been. That just wasn’t her character. I will say that there was a point near the end where Zack said some things, and I was so mad at him. But he was breaking his own heart to get to Dahlia’s, and damn if it didn’t make me love him even more. The theme of this book, that you don’t have to be ‘fixed’ to find love was so well done, and I think, so important. There is no shame in someone helping you get there; just because you don’t go the hard road alone doesn’t mean you don’t get to claim your emotional victories. And just because it takes you a long time to get there doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to have good things along the way.

Sweet Insanity is not your typical NA book; you’re not going to pick it up and think ‘Oy, I’ve read this before.’ But if you enjoy the genre, you are going to love this book! I sure did.

Sweet Insanity by Desireé Adele

Oh boy...what a huge debut novel by Desireé Adele!!!
Now...I have to precede this review with the fact that NA/College romances are NOT my chosen type of read. For many reasons, but mostly because of the severe angst & tooing & froing between the characters.
However, faced with the blurb to this story, I decided to give it a shot.
If this is what Desireé gives us with her first novel, then wowsers she is going to be a huge player in this indie world.
Put simply...I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Let me start with Dahlia...what a heroine. Full of abandonment and repressed anger, she has pushed her feelings down so far in order to preserve her mask of indifference that allows her to keep most people at a distance. Little did she know that the guy that was giving her grief in class would be the one person that would save her from her own.
Zack is the king jock on campus and he has his own sorrow & heartache that he is trying to conceal & deal with. However, after his confrontation with Dahlia, he is starting to realise that maybe, just maybe, there might be something more to life than sleeping with every girl who drops their panties at his feet.
This book has some serious life lessons tucked into the fibre of every word.
The way this author has weaved reality into her characters will allow each reader, depending on their own life experience, to reach a truly personal affection for Zack & Dahlia.
Now..in reference to my preface, instead of using over the top drama to create the feels in this story, the author has muted the angsty tone to her young characters by giving them 'real life' situations to deal with and allowed them an organic flow on from their antics and the decisions they ultimately make.
Added to all this, a smattering of humour and a huge dollop of sexy, smouldering heat has been injected to give this novel an all round first class feel.
In Sweet Insanity we have been given one kickass first offering by Desireé Adele. This girl can write and I have to say that this is going to be up there with my favourites for the year.
Bravo 👏

Sweet Insanity by Desiree Adele
5 stars!!!

“Don’t invest in someone who isn’t invested in you.”

When a PR friend of mine asked me to Beta Read this book by a debut author, I couldn’t say no, I knew nothing about the author, knew nothing about the book and just went in blind. I find that the best way. When I was reading it, it was truly shocking, to be honest, it was a mess, but underneath the jumbled words was a story that hit me hard, characters that I fell in love with and an authors voice that was an instant hit. I absolutely adored it. Despite everything, the potential this book had was exponential, I couldn’t believe it was a debut as the author had that air of confidence, the banter and dialogue were on point, and the emotion was there in spades. I gave my honest critique, suggested a few things and my parting words were ‘for a debut it was spectacular. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! Even a seasoned author would have been proud of that.” Reading the final, polished, pretty version, my opinion hasn’t changed.

“People use words like fate or destiny as a crutch. Like it’s some magical fairy that sprinkles dust over their heads and all of a sudden—poof—everything straightens itself out. Our fates are contingent on our choices. It’s not about the big picture. It’s about the moments in between.”

The flow was perfect, this book moves along effortlessly, and the characters embed themselves into your heart and soul. Character connection is so tough, many authors miss the brief, but Desiree Adele hit the nail on the head with not only her primaries but her secondaries too. Set in college, this sports-themed romance is so much more, with some great life lessons interspersed with a romance that will shred and affect every single heartstring. I loved Dahlia with a passion and Zack was book boyfriend material personified. Both these characters had their issues, and the author dealt with them all with sympathy, honesty and heartfelt emotion. There were no eye-rolls, no clichés just an honest romance that knocked me on my hopeless romantic arse.

“Loneliness doesn’t mean safety, baby. It just means when shit goes down and times are tough, there’s no one there to help you through it.”

Dahlia has abandonment issues, and it is hard for her to put herself out there. Her life as a child was rough and tough, and like the brave, strong, woman she has turned out to be, she fought for everything. Her inner strength is admirable, but the hurt has left its scars, and they are her biggest demons. I loved the relationship she had with her adoptive father, Christos, he breathed life back into her and gave her that fierce determination that made her the woman she was today. Dahlia just needed to learn to love and trust, and Zack was the perfect man for the job.

“I’m ready to play. Zach is the puck and I’m the stick, about to sink him into the net. Game on, Puck Boy, game on.”

Zack was your typical ice hockey player, loved by all, looked up to and respected. The men wanted to be him, and the women wanted to bed him. Underneath the ice hockey persona though was a man with the hugest of hearts. Losing his mum was tough on him, but he loved his dad and brother with ferocity. Zach’s best friend, Keith, kept him on the straight and narrow and always had his back and the friendship that these two had would always stand the test of time. I adored both of them, and their banter was hilarious, but their closeness, like brothers radiated off every scene they were in.

“…in this case, I didn’t have a choice. I was yours the minute you drop-kicked me in the face.”

The chemistry between Zack and Dahlia was off the charts, it oozed off the pages, and that initial hate was a subtle mask for the undeniable attraction between these two. Dahlia knocked Zack on his arse literally and figuratively, and I was championing these two along the whole book. As I said above, this book was a spectacular debut, Desiree Adele is extremely talented, and if every book is like this one, she has a stellar career ahead of her. I for one cannot wait to see what comes next.

“All I’d ever wanted was your heart…It’s just a shame you don’t have one.”

To begin with, I was beyond thrilled to read Desireé Adele's debut novel, Sweet Insanity, because she's one of my most favorite booktubers and book reviewers of all time. Hence, when I found out she was publishing her own books, I simply couldn't resist the chance to tell everyone about it.

Sweet Insanity consisted of unforgettable characters as well as beautifully-designed plot. The storyline was pretty easy to follow and Desireé's writing style amazed me to no end. I was completely engrossed by the undeniable chemistry between the protagonists, Dahlia and Zack, since they were so hard not to fall in love with. Both characters had quite distinctive personalities and their banters were to die for. Even though Dahlia had such dark past, I was impressed by how easily Desireé maneuvered my thought and made me believe in the happiness of Dahlia's reunion with Zack, which later turned into one of the steamiest romances I've ever read.

Despite the overall satisfaction of reading this book, what really got me was the profanity in the story. Zack seriously couldn't NOT use any foul word in a sentence. He "literally" cursed in every. single. thing. he said and I just couldn't stand it. Imagine hearing someone swear every other sentence in their conversation with you and you'd know what I mean. Perhaps it was just me, who knows, I wasn't used to that much blasphemy of the beautiful language called English. :P

All in all, Sweet Insanity was a great read in general, but I would certainly enjoy it more if there weren't that much profanity in the story. Nevertheless, I'd definitely give Desireé Adele's future works a try because she's such a talented writer full of potential!

"When you choose to stay hidden in the shadows, the light will never touch you, never fill you with its warmth."

The debut novel Sweet Insanity by Desiree Adele was an emotional journey that gave us two main characters who were each broken in their own way. Zack is the handsome star of his college hockey team who suffers a terrible loss in his life and is so afraid to lose again. Dahlia has endured an unthinkable childhood and keeps rigid walls up for protection. Both of these characters, while completely different, are both dealing with loss, fear, and struggles of the heart.

This story grabbed me from the very beginning and took me on a ride that both melted and shattered my heart. The supporting characters were written with wit, humor, and depth. They were all so enduring in many ways, and lets just say that Keith almost stole the show. Makes perfect sense that this guy will be getting his own book!

Sharply written with just the right amount of angst, humor, and heartbreak, this debut novel is fantastic. The roller coaster of emotions, the life lessons, the idea that "we are who we choose to be" all combined to give us a story with all the feels and one that was very hard to put down. I loved it from start to finish. Sweet Insanity is a phenomenal first book from Desiree Adele. I give it 4.5 shining stars! Cannot wait for her next book!

"THERE IS NO LOVE IN FEAR." I am honestly floored that this book is a Debut Novel. I´m always a little skeptical when reading debut novels because I kind of feel like an authors writing tends to get better as they write more, but if my theory is correct then look out literary world because Desiree is THE new author to look out for. The writing was beautifully executed. So full of emotion and deeply heart felt .

“Our fates are contingent on our choices. It´s not about the big picture.
It´s about the moments in between.”

The story takes place in college with Dahlia and Zack being the two main characters. They meet in class on not so good terms and basically the story stems from there. This book had all those university feels that I love so much in a book. It has parties, mean girls, man whores, and all the drama you would expect from 20 year olds.
Dahlia´s character has suffered through a lot in her past which has turned her into a very defensive person. She in no way opens up easily to people and definitely not to the possibility of love. I do have to admit that at some point in the story I did just want to slap the hell out of Dahlia. Her fear of letting Zack in was kind of turning this into a bit of a slow burn and I was a bit antsy to see them finally get together. She lived her life in fear of her past constantly.

“A little something I´ve learned about safety? It´s all smoke and mirrors.
An elusive bitch who, after declaring herself yours, will forsake you…”

That said Zack´s character to me was perfect. He was so understanding of everything Dahlia had been through and had so much patience for her. He has also suffered a great deal in his past but manages to have a totally different look on life than Dahlia does. They are like the Yin and Yang of how to cope with trauma.
I did get a bit teary eyed at a certain part of the book especially because some of the feelings going on were hitting a bit close to home. But that’s what I loved about this story the fact that in a way I got sucked in and felt the pain of these two characters. I didn´t give this 5stars because I just felt like it lacked a little more angst and the ending felt like everything just wrapped up too easily. I was hoping that the prologue would in all bring a little more drama to the story. But hey that’s just me being an ANGST whore.
I can imagine putting out your first book is a frightening process and obviously there is no way to please everyone but I do believe that this story holds its own next to books by authors who have been writing for years. So congratulations Deiree for this wonderful Debut novel that will surely be the first of many I will read .

I won this lovely little debut novel from a giveaway on one of my favorite home away from homes on the book of face. Thank you to my dear friend Robin, whose amazing group made this possible, and also to the author, Ms. Desiree Adele, who offered up her book as the prize!

Sweet Insanity. I agree with the first part of the title. Gah, parts of this book were so sweet I swear I was getting a cavity; I wanted to wrap these two up and keep them with me forever! Insanity... no, I don't feel the insanity part... I'm not insane, but I understand why the title is what it is. I bet that makes no sense, right? Guess you'll have to read the book now. *giggle*

It was an engaging NA novel, the dialogue was fluid and relatable, filled with witty banter that was quick to read and not laden with extraneous bits that would detract from the story. Secondary characters were amazing and I was quite intrigued with them and would be very interested to hear more about them in the future. The plot, although following a predictable course, was written well, although there were a few little proofing things that I know are still being taken care of as I was given an unfinished copy; but I'll give you a couple of brief glimpses of Ms. Adele's writing prowess below.

HOLD IT, HOLD IT! A debut novel??? JUST WOW!!! What a pleasant surprise. Desiree Adele is an awesome you tuber/reviewer but as an author, she totally SMOKED IT!

The story of Dahlia and Zack is all heart and feels. Dahlia has a shitty upbringing – she knows a thing or two about hunger and abandonment. One night Christos rescues her from being attacked and took her under his wings. The grown-up version of Dahlia is fierce, a bit jaded, and not easily manipulated. This girl can throw a punch too. Zack is a jock who is bored of girls falling to their feet for him. Zack is skilled with the hockey stick, popular, gorgeous, self-confident but deep down he has his own insecurities and struggles. Zack is a good guy at heart. The first-time Zack met Dahlia he was intrigued by her boldness, and he is determined to win Dahlia over. It will not be easy though. Dahlia is intending to put him in his place with a few take downs if you will, pun intended! I really enjoy Dahlia and Zack’s relationship development – flirty, agnsty, turned fun, sweet and sexy. I appreciate that the characters are flawed and imperfect. They need to learn to trust each other and fall in love without fear.

Debut novel or not. This book was outstanding - Emotional, heartfelt with developed characters, unique storylines and beautifully written. It’s about courage to live despite adversary. It’s about second chances and it gave me hope that there are good people out there. It’s about overcoming fear and taking a chance at love. I have no complaints and let me say I see BIG things coming for this sweet lady! Congratulations! Can’t wait for more to come.

4.5 “No love in fear” Stars!

Sweet Insanity is the amazing debut novel by Desireé Adele.
I would’ve never guessed this was the author’s first published work. My heart was captivated from the very start. I loved it! <3

Zack Graves is a college hockey player and the handsome, most popular “it guy” on campus. Every girl wants him and every guy wants to be him. And he has enjoyed all the attention.
So when one sassy fiery redhead lays into him about his rude behavior in class, he’s left with his jaw on ground in complete disbelief.
Wondering who this spitfire is and wanting to know more about her.

Dahlia Anastas is our heroine. She works at a martial arts studio and is working hard to gain the experience to teach her own classes.
Dahlia has had a heartbreakingly difficult upbringing before being adopted by Christos. Her past has made her keep people at arm’s length and never really letting anyone see her true self.

But Zack is determined in pursing her and little by little she can’t resist his charm.
Which leads to some of the funniest most entertaining scenes in this book.
These characters, though they seem so different, were actually quite similar and had a deep genuine connection. I wouldn’t stop turning the pages. I was hooked!

As the story progresses, they face tough battles along the way that challenge their insecurities and fears. I think the author did an amazing job showcasing those aspects and putting you in her characters shoes, so to speak. I found Zack and Dahlia to be relatable and endearing each in their own way.

Sweet Insanity was a dream to read - the author’s prose was some of my favorite that I’ve read in a while.
The side characters were great and I’m glad Keith is getting his own story.
This book flowed beautifully and had just the most perfect combination of wit, humor and sexy effortless chemistry between Dahlia and Zack.

Outstanding debut novel, and I can’t wait to read more from this brilliant author!

5 "There is no fear in love" Stars

Sweet Insanity is the debut novel from Desireé Adele and let me just say "Holy Crap on a cracker!!!" It is SIMPLY PERFECTION!!!! From start to finish, it kept me riveted...glued to my kindle as I got lost in the INTENSE, HEARTSEARING and ANGSTY love story between Dahlia and Zack!

Zack and Dahlia have led such different lives up to the point where they meet in college (Zack was a child born of privilege and money while Dahlia struggled finding the bare necessities of life) but somehow, these two complete opposites find a kindred soul that will NOT be denied! Call it what you will...fate...kismet...whatever...these two were MEANT to be!!!

The character development was superb and completely believable. It's the type of love story that wraps itself around your mind and heart and won't let go! The soul wrenching revelations had me glaring at my kindle as if it would change what was written, until the glorious epilogue and HEA that had my heart sighing with contentment. Even the secondary characters are wholly developed and I loved ALL of them!

Again, I simply can't believe that this is a debut novel even though I know it is! It's so well written, flows so beautifully, has ALL the feels....and I CANNOT WAIT to see what this talented, promising author has in store for us in the future!

I received an arc from the author for an honest review!

This is Desireé's debut novel... and what a great first novel it was!!!

I know how passionate she is when reading other peoples books and tells everyone about them etc.

So I just knew this book would be without a doubt amazing.

When Dahlia first meets Zack it's in a class. He's tap tap tapping away on his phone and it gets on her last nerves.

After the class is finished she just snaps and ends up giving him a piece of her mind.

Zack is taken aback lol. He then can't stop thinking about the dark haired Auburn girl with the piercing Blue eyes.

Dahlia ♡ That poor sweet girl. What she went through when she was younger. I just wanted to give her a big hug. She's such an amazing character. Love her.

Zack ♡ LOVE HIM!!! He's a sexy hockey player and he doesnt have trouble getting any girl. But then in walks Dahlia and then he's like what the hell. He can't help thinking about her.

As soon as I started reading this I was like YESSSS!!! I love a good college sports romance.

This books made me swoon, laugh, say NO DONT YOU DARE! and even shed a tear or two.

Well done lovey on an amazing debut novel xx

This was Desiree’s debut novel and I’ve got to day that this book is really good. I love Zack and Dahlia’s story because I got to see their interactions with one another. As I continue reading this story, I continue to develop my feelings for Zack.
Zack and Dahlia are people from two different world; however, after Zack’s first encounter with Dahlia, his perception towards her starts to change and he slowly wants to get closer to her and even become friends with her. Dahlia, on the other hand, doesn’t want to get involved in a relationship with someone as popular as Zack after her childhood experiences. But the problem is? Everywhere she goes, Zack would be there. How can she avoid him when he keep proposing new ideas so that she could spent most of her free time with him?
At the beginning of this book, I found that I quickly became attracted to Zack and his personality because he wasn’t like most of the popular boys that played sports who acted like spoiled brats. Since I’ve read multiple books with characters where the guy is popular and the girl is not and then the girl would put them in their places. However, I felt like nothing unexpected happened and I got a little bored but it picked right back up near the ending and I just loved how the story wrapped up for them.
I want to congratulate Desiree on her first novel and to be honest, it was a really amazing book with characters that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Can’t wait for her next book.

Zack is the star of his hockey team, he likes to party with his friends, drink, have sex... (I would have liked him less stereotyped, this kind of behavior is déjà vu, but the way he "changed" for Dahlia shows how much his feelings are deep and strong).
Dahlia is discreet but brave, she's a champion in martial arts, she 's different from the girls Zack is used to. He has to break the walls she erected around her, he has to fight for her and that's the part i liked the most. Their relationship bloom through the pages, so cute. The more we learn about Dahlia's past the more i liked her.
The author shows her talent in her writing and in her characters. They are developed, they have depths, they are really moving. They made me laugh and cry too. The structure with past and present, letting us know their issues with time, is smart.
The reason i don't give 5 stars is the end of the book.
The beginning have some unnecessary passages and the end was too rushed. No spoiler so... Zack is facing a new issue, and this issue could have been more developed. That would have been interesting to see our protagonists facing this together, as a solid couple. And... between them the forgiveness was rushed too, in my opinion.
This book was a pleasure to read though. 4*

Thank you Desireé for the ARC ! i will follow you!

I was given an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review

This is Desireé debut novel and I loved it. I have been following Desireé’s book reviews on Youtube for a while now as we have very similar tastes in books, so I was son excited to see that Desireé wrote her own book. It was an amazing first novel.

Dahlia confronts Zack one day who sits behind her in her university lecture making a lot of noise tapping on his phone. Zack is good looking and star of the hockey team and Dahlia at first doesn’t give him the time of day. But Zack is intrigued and pursues Dahlia’s attention.

Dahlia had a rough childhood and channels all her energy into MMA, thus Dahlia is quite guarded. But with Zack’s persistence and the ‘surprising’ fact that they actually get on with each other. They get to know each other better and deeper feelings start to develop.

Both Dahlia and Zack battle their insecurities, fears and past hurts that they must work through if they ever want that something more with each other.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and Desireé did an amazing job with her debut novel. The writing was really good and the story entertaining. I will definitely be continuing with the series, I can’t wait to read more.

Sweet Insanity is Desiree's first book....ever!!! What a debut, this book makes you feel so many things, Dahlia has been through so much in her life, and those things have stayed with her. She doesn't trust easily, and can be at times her own worst enemy...but you want good things for her, you hope she can overcome and allow herself to feel something for someone. That's where Zack comes in, he's the super talented hockey star on campus and every girl wants him....except Dahlia!! She doesn't really know who he is, or pretends not to know, and tells him off one day in class because of his phone. That has Zack very much intrigued, and wants to get to know her better. Dahlia is very closed off, and as much as she is attracted to Zack, more and more as she gets to know him she keeps trying to bury any potential feelings she may be starting to feel for him. You root for Zack to win over Dahlia, does he? Will Dahlia let her guard down enough to allow Zack in...and stay there? Desiree, you did such a phenomenal job with this book, I am recommending this book to EVERYONE!!! So proud of you, and your debut baby, can't wait to see what you do with Keith!! So yeah, remember the name Desiree Adele!!

**Received arc for an honest review**
This is the debut novel by Desiree Adele and she delivered. The story centers around Dahlia and Zack. Set in college. Dahlia is tough as nails, take no shit. She's got a guarded heart (for reasons you find out). Zack is the star hockey player. He's popular, gorgeous, and used to getting any woman he wants. There's more than these two that meets the eye. He's chasing her, but will he catch her? If he catches her, will he keep her? I loved two and their story. They're not the stereotypical characters they could have easily been. Better yet, I loved the secondary characters. Get this book. Download it and set aside a few hours for it. I didn't want to put it down. Can't wait to read more from Desiree.

Can I just say one thing?
Bravo!

I’ve been in a reading slump and after reading this story, twice, I’ve fallen in love with the two leads. It’s a realistic story between two young adults that have to learn each other ways before moving forward.

Well done!

At times I felt like I was reading poetry and I kind of like it. The way that Desiree described some things made it feel like poetry.
Super easy and fast to read.
I was looking forward to reading this because I love love love loveeeee Desiree reviews, and I'm glad I read it. I liked it.

She’ll do anything to walk away victorious, anything to keep herself safe because it’s all she knows how to do.
oh well...

“I think you confuse being alone with being safe. Loneliness doesn’t mean safety, baby. It just means when shit goes down and times are tough, there’s no one there to help you through it.”

Me tomó dos días terminarlo pero porque estoy super ocupada con tareas, proyectos y clases de la U.

Amazing debut book for Desiree! I have been following Desiree on booktube for a couple years. Her channel is great and one of my favorites. She gives the best recommendations which is one of the reasons I knew when she said she was coming out with her own book it would be a must read. She definitely pulled through! I loved Zack and Delilah's story! It really was a great book and I can't wait for Keith's story!
