Decently uplifting, but geared more towards Christian moms. If Christianity isn't your faith, it can be a bit off putting the constant "God-given" this, "Higher power" that. If you don't have children, there are 2-3 chapters that don't apply to you that you can just skip. I also found the book to be repetitive by midway through, with the same stories and anecdotes retold from earlier in the book. The good news is it's a very quick read, and there's at least one nugget of empowerment for anyone ...more

Rachel Hollis has been through a lot, and she's done stuff. She has some great advice in this book, but I felt like this message was a little young for me. I'm not trying to be the perfect mom or wife or CEO or whatever. At this point in my life, I'm pretty happy with who I am.

I started reading this but ended with with the audible version. It held a lot of the same values that I do but there was a lot of talk around babies I feel a lot was geared toward that young mom. I am still grateful for reading it and glad I went for the audible version!

Loved this easy read. Although not all chapters apply it really give you a sense for understanding others and having compassion. Very inspiring and a kick my ass and get me going kind of way. Love it.

This is another recommendation from the friend who recommended Brene Brown’s book on imperfection. It is easily digestible and easily read — an inspiring tome that will inspire you to get off your butt and get stuff done, even when you are stuck in a bad place.

Girl, wash your face:

Good. Written more like a lecture. Good take-a-ways, and some not.

Quick read; uplifting female encouragement. Her life anecdotes were entertaining, but repetitive.

Good book. Really starts off funny, insightful and rich, but becomes repetitive around the middle. Glad I read it.

Her words get to you clearly with-out the fluff! Easy & a hard read at the same time! I love that! Kind of book I want my kids to read!

“Girl, get ahold of your life. stop medicating, stop hiding out, stop being afraid, stop giving away pieces of yourself, stop saying you can't do it. Stop the negative talk, stop abusing your body, stop putting off for tomorrow or Monday or next year. Stop crying about what happened and take control of what happens next. Get up, right now. RISE UP from where you've been, scrub away the tears and the pain of yesterday, and start again.....Girl, wash your face!” 1 likes
