A PSYCHOLOGIST GIVES ‘PRACTICAL’ STEPS TO SPIRITUALITY
Author and psychologist Ron Scolastico wrote in the Introduction to this 1995 book, “In my career as a Transpersonal Psychologist, I have worked with thousands of people who are hungry for a deeper experience of life. They want to know why they are here on earth; what created them; what happens to them after they die… In essence, they want to know about the SPIRITUAL aspects of their existence. Many of the people I work with are … particularly impressed by reports of ‘near-death’ experiences… These reports bring insights into the spiritual world that many people find very inspiring. I believe that such accounts are compelling because they take us… beyond physical reality. They bring s fascinating knowledge about the spiritual aspects of life that many people long for, but have not been able to attain on their own.” (Pg. 17)
He continues, “In this book I will share with you what I have discovered by actually passing through a doorway to a vast spiritual reality more than 14,000 times---a feat I have accomplished without having a near-death experience… I have been able to consistently enter extremely deep states of consciousness that enable me to go beyond the physical world into the most wondrous spiritual reality imaginable. I hope that I can help you… [to] have your own profound spiritual experiences.” (Pg. 18)
He explains, “When I enter the expanded state of consciousness that enables me to pass through the doorway between the physical reality and the spiritual realms, I believe I am using intuitive abilities that area available to everyone… I first learned to make this deep connection to spiritual realities in the 1970s, just after I completed my Ph.D. degree in Humanistic Psychology… my most troubling problem was that I had no ongoing source of INSPIRATION to give me hope about life… I had never directly experienced the deep, ongoing beauty of the spiritual realm. I had only read about it in books…” (Pg. 18-20)
He goes on, “I have written this Introduction in my words. The rest of this books has been ‘written’ by the vast source of wisdom that I draw upon in the nonphysical world. While I am n that amazing realm, the knowledge from the source is spoken into a tape recorder. The tapes are then transcribed, and I edit the transcriptions for clarity and ease of understanding. When I am speaking the knowledge from the source, my conscious mind is not in control, and I do not choose the words… You will notice that this book addresses some of the PSYCHOLOGICAL aspects of our human experience, as well as the spiritual dimensions of life.” (Pg. 27)
He suggests, “To come to the full truth about yourself, it is important to know who you are BEYOND your present human Self that is now living in the physical world. You need a clear vision of yourself as a soul… Begin by considering that your soul lives in a world that does not exist within time and space… You can initially think of the nonphysical reality of your soul as a vast, unending EXPERIENCE. Imagine an experience that has no limits, and that exists beyond time, space, and the physical universe.” (Pg. 40-41)
He says, “Learning to experience spiritual realities is not a process of forcefully eliminating obstacles to achieve a RESULT. It is more a matter of creatively adjusting your inner life in order to achieve a new kind of experience.. It is not a process of DOING. It is a matter of BEING. You will learn a new, deeper way of being yourself.” (Pg. 55)
He states, “As you work with negativity in your life, it is important to remember that … you are only temporarily a physical body and human personality. You are always an eternal being… You as a soul understand that you have lived many human lifetimes. In all of them you have experienced human negativity. That negativity… NO LONGER EXISTS…. Any present negativity that you have will also end… It is also important to constantly remind yourself that human negativity cannot damage you.” (Pg. 79-80)
He says, “It is wise to approach your attunement to your soul in two stages. In this chapter you will explore the first stage---the beginning experience of attunement. This initial preparation will help you create a refined level of sensitivity that will enable you to then move on to the second stage---the deeper attunement process that will be explored in the next chapter.” (Pg. 109)
He states, “Over time, as you deepen your attunement experience, you will find that during … your attunement process you can ‘wander’ far from your normal human awareness. Therefore, after each attunement period, when you decide that it is time to return to your normal state of consciousness, it will be very important to take your time and bring yourself back slowly.” (Pg. 150)
He concludes, “When you chart your course n alignment with truth, you will gain an unshakable certainty that you are a creative and dynamic eternal soul expressing yourself through many human lifetimes in the physical world. You will know that your true purpose in those many lifetimes is to experience a full completion of your human existence while manifesting the magnificence of your eternal soul and the forces of God into the physical world. Following your course toward truth, you will go forth to the accomplishment of that purpose day by day, throughout this lifetime.” (Pg. 164)
