This is a guidebook to some of the most popular card games we play today. It includes a bit of history for each game, as well as simple rules and scoring, all written in conversational style and good text size, where most of the rule books I have read for various card games are in minuscule print, and limit themselves to just the rules.
That said, the typos are numerous and this book would benefit from editing. It lacks any drawings, sketches, or illustrations. And many key sentences are re-used in introductions and conclusions of each game. It is written in a very simple template style.
The positive benefit of the compilation is that the reader can compare the different games, and get a view of a few key variations, like in Solitaire. I also found it a helpful resource for a reminder of some of the rules of games I haven't played in years, like hearts and spades. And, for games I haven't yet tried, like Canasta, it gave me a good understanding, and a bit of strategy for games I am still learning. It makes a good reference for the game room.
