Man, I just love this series.

Books one and two of this series of some of my favorite books of all time - especially book one...oh, the angst...so good - and while this one isn't up there with those two in my head, I definitely enjoyed it a lot.

Alex was a really great H and Sarai was a well-balanced heroine. We also got to spend some time up in Oregon with the Evans family. We got to see/read about beloved characters from previous books and I just ate it up.

Not gonna lie, the connection between Alex and Sarai wasn't as...palpable as that of Shane/Kate or Bram/Ani, but I still really enjoyed them as a couple. I loved reading through the obstacles and emotions they had to work through toward the end of the story.

All in all a great read that I can see myself re-reading in the future.

Piece of My Heart is the forth book in Nicole Jacquelyn’s ‘Fostering Love’ series. To be honest, this was my most anticipated one of the series. Alex is one of those supporting characters that you fall in love with and I couldn’t wait for his book. I was so happy when this one landed on my kindle and Alex didn’t disappoint. I adored him just as much as I knew I would.

Alex Evan’s is in the Army. He’s an amazing brother, son, and friend, but the last thing he wants to do is to help an army buddy out by going on a blind date. But he goes. The girl he happens to be set up with is named Sarai and he falls head over heels for her. It’s love at first sight for him, but she needs a little more time. Sarai is a busy lady and she’s focused on work and school. She doesn’t have time for a relationship, but Alex wears her down. Once Sarai gives in, these two fall hard and they fall fast for one another.

Alex is the best of the best. Seriously, there could not be a more perfect hero. He’s genuine, a great brother and friend, a kind and sweet man, and a romantic boyfriend. I couldn’t have loved him more. It took me a bit longer to warm up to Sarai, but I really liked her too. These two were a great match and though their romance moved quickly, it was believable. I mean, who would let a guy like Alex go?

This book was a lot lighter on the angst compared to some of the others, but it was still uber emotional and heartbreaking. My heart shattered for this couple. There is a lot of struggle toward the end, and I wish that there would have been more of a focus on the healing. The last 10% of the book felt a bit rushed to me, but aside from that, I loved it.

Family is such a strong point when it comes to these books. The support this family gives is huge. The problems this couple faces seem insurmountable at times, but love can truly conquer all. This series has been so great for me, and this was a nice addition. If you’re looking for an emotional read that’s full of heart and has a flawless hero, pick this one up.

Time of death 22% so no rating.

I tried, I really did, but when I'm looking for things to do to avoid reading a book that's doing nothing for me then I need to call it quits.

Unbreak My Heart, the first book in the series, was just fabulous and it's a book I've read a number of times and loved it every time. The feels, the angst, the pain, the strong characters and great story is what's lacking huge in Piece of My Heart. I couldn't connect with either character and didn't have any interest in the story either.

Sadly this one didn't live up to the blurb 😕

Piece Of My Heart was an emotional romance that made you not only fall in love with these characters, but their family as well. From the unbreakable bonds, easy going comradery, to knowing that every single one of these members ,will have your back till the end of time.

Sarai Levy has always known what she’s wanted. Having plans makes her life much easier and she’s able to focus better and stay on track. Putting her all into her final months of getting her degree, Sarai has no time for anything but studying and going to work. That all changes when a few weeks prior to agreeing to be accompanied on a blind date, she slowly starts to fall for the charming Alex Evans and it’s the beginning of something beautiful.

Amazing brother, good friend, loving son, strong worker, these are some of the best traits of Alex Evans and it’s only going to get better for this man. Forced to help out a friend and go on a blind date, Alex meets the woman who’s about to change his life completely. Too bad she doesn’t have the time for him right now but if it’s one thing that is known about Alex, is that he’s persistent

I’ve been a huge fan of this series and I couldn’t wait to see how everything was going to wrap with this loving crazy family and I’m so glad that that it was Alex’s story that gave us the beautiful ending. I loved the connection between these characters and everything felt so natural and easy that it was a breeze to get into. My only issue that I had was that towards the end felt too rush for my liking and I wanted to see more of a healing process between the characters.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed this one and it was the perfect ending for a lovable family and amazing characters. If you haven’t read any of these books yet, then you really need to.

Incase I haven't said so a bazillion times before, I am completely obsessed with this series. Nicole Jacquelyn's Fostering Love series is comprised of interconnected standalone novels and it surrounds the most captivatingly colorful cast of characters that so vividly depict what it truly means to be a family. As each of the Harris/Evans children find love in their books, the family that raised them and the circumstances of their childhood play a hugely pivotal role in their individual stories. Alex's story of finding love and almost losing it evolves in Piece of My Heart and the richly layered histories of both his love interest, Sarai, and himself come full circle.

I really enjoyed this book even though it felt like it was missing a little something. I can't even say what that something was because as I reflect back on this book, I'm certain it was thoroughly fleshed out and well done. It's romantic and emotional and full of tender, heartfelt moments. I think I just constantly compare the books in this series to the first. Unbreak My Heart is my all time favorite and the angst and emotion and heartache in that book set a bar that few books live up to. But I KNOW that isn't a fair gauge and because of that, I tried to remain objective. What this story lacks in angst, it makes up for with its sweet romance and blistering attraction. Piece of My Heart is a satisfyingly readable romance and there's so much to love about it.

I'd give all the stars in the sky to Alex Evans. He's the sweetest, kindest, most genuinely good character and he made this book. He and Sarai face a lot in this novel and through it all Alex is a rock. His fierce loyalty, his inherent strength... he's just delicious and I couldn't get enough of him.

All in all, this is an enjoyable read. I pretty much devoured it in one sitting and I highly recommend not only this book but this entire series. It's special and unique, consistently heartfelt, and it's a beautiful testament to family, to military service and to love.

Piece of My Heart is book four in the Fostering Love series and follows Alex, the more carefree brother. He's always been a fun presence in this series and he was more lighthearted than his siblings, at least to me. So I was actually surprised that his book turned out to be a little heavy at times and it was more emotional than I was expecing. But I loved the emotions that it brought out and that we got to see another side to Alex.

His and Sarai's relationship was still really fun, especailly in the beginning, but the true romance for me came later in the book when their relationship turned from something light and easy, to something a little more angsty. I loved them from beginning to end but I think they became more solid in their relatiobship when they had to learn how to lean on each other.

There wasn't an overload of drama, and the angst level wasn't super high, even though the angst that was in the book was a bigger part of the story. But around that there was still a ton of loving and emotional moments that really took the focus of the book. The relationship moved pretty fast, and that worked well witht his couple, but I have to say I wish the ending didn't move as fast as it did. I can't really say it was rushed but it it was more fast paced than I was hoping it would be.

Overall, a great read and one I will certainly recommend reading. It can definitely be read as a standalone but I do think that seeing Alex's siblings nose their way into his relationship will make you want to read the previous books as well.

“I really like you,” I said with a sigh, smiling back at her. “But I’m not sure if this relationship is good for my ego.”
“Maybe,” she conceded. “But I bet your personality improves exponentially.”
Dear God, I’d met my match.

“I want to get old and fat with you,” I said plainly. “Because I want to be in a place with you that none of the outward stuff matters. You’ll spend entire weekends with no makeup on your face, and I’ll get a little bit of a gut because I know that you’ll still ride me like there’s no tomorrow even if you can’t see my washboard abs.”

I hated the way they moved with calm efficiency. Didn’t they realize that she was my life? Why were they moving so slowly?

“You can’t plan for everything.”
“I can try.”
“Yeah, you can,” I conceded with a sigh. “But some of the best things happen when you don’t plan for them.”

What a poignant, eloquent and beautiful story! Nicole always writes stories that have my heart constricted with all the emotions!

This story killed me in the best of ways. It starts so wonderful, with having Sarai and Alex meeting each other and going on dates, etc. It was so cute to finally see Alex falling for a woman, especially for a woman like Sarai. He completely met his match with her and I was so happy! Both are goofballs! I was having so much fun with them.

Since the second novel, I've been so intrigued by Alex, so when it was announced this was his story, I went crazy! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this pretty! Alex is always the clown and the goofball, but in a good way. He just likes to joke and make people smile and laugh. What I adored the most was seeing Alex and Ani, his foster sister, back together again, acting like complete children. It had me laughing and adoring them once again.

Sarai was a new addition to this story so I didn't really know anything about her. We learn that she's Jewish but she doesn't follow a lot of practices from Judaism. To me, she was like a modern Jewish. Anyway, Sarai is a woman who's there for her friends no matter what. She's also very focused on her studies, has a plan for everything, and doesn't have time for dating, especially for a man like Alex. When she realizes she can't resist him, they start working around their very busy schedule to spend time with each other, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Their lives are going so great, but knowing this author, I knew it was the calm before the storm and when the storm arrived, I couldn't breathe. My heart broke in pieces and I had tears in my eyes for these two amazing characters. They definitely didn't deserve what happened. Yet you could see character growth amidst it all. Especially for Alex. Even though he was beyond affected about what had happened, he knew he needed to be there for Sarai, that he needed to be the strong one so he pushed aside his feelings and focused on giving all to Sarai. I was already in love with him, but it was here that I fell much harder for this incredible man.

I have always LOVED Alex's family, since Unbreak My Heart . They are a bunch who's there for each other through thick and thin. All of them are adopted but you wouldn't think that once you spend just a few seconds with them. Some are loud, others a grumpy and cynical, yet the love they have to give knows absolutely no bounds. They love and give without a second thought. I especially loved seeing Ani and Bram back from Change of Heart.

I loved having Ani back! She's Alex's foster sister and she is always a hoot and I always enjoy her to the max. I was so happy to have gotten to see a little of Kate (another foster sister), but I wish her entire family had been in this book since their story has to be my favorite! Nevertheless, it was great to see the members of this fantastic family that I will truly carry forever in my heart and never forget.

This family shows once again how amazing they are when they band together to help Sarai and Alex. It just showed how giving they all are. If you want an amazing family to read about, I will forever recommend Fostering Love series!

Unfortunately, not every family is as amazing as this one, which is why it was so tough to read about Sarai's family. Her aunt and uncle are still very Jewish and they're so strict and set in their ways. When Sarai calls them to give them wonderful news, they react so badly. My heart tore apart for her because you could feel her heart shattering in the process. I was happy she at least had Alex's family to rely on. She also had Mr. and Mrs. K. They were so wonderful. They were family friends of Sarai's parents so when Sarai moved back to Missouri, they opened their arms to her for anything she needed.

Overall, Piece of My Heart is a beautiful and poignant novel, just like the rest of the novels in this series. It will have you laughing one minute, and crying the next with a broken heart, but it will mend it in the end. I can never recommend this series enough, nor this author. Nicole Jacquelyn is so underrated and she deserves so much more recognition for the amazing talent she has!

2.5 The last 2 books in this series are a mere shadow to the first 2, so disappointed. I never really cared for Sarai through out the entire book and I think me not liking her is why when the big thing happened I wanted to slap her to snap out of it and quit being a bitch. But, that's awful of me, because what happened to her was terrible and I should've been understanding. I still really liked Alex! I follow this author on facebook and know she went through some things the last few years and I think it effected her writing. It's like she was contractually obligated to write the last 2 books in this series so she threw up some crap to complete her contract. Makes me sad for the book series. I still love this author though :)

4 stars!

This is such a great read! Fun, sweet and sexy, this book still packs an emotional punch, with a hero that you cannot help but adore. I loved it, and devoured it in one sitting, unable to put it down.

I love this series so much. Centred around a fantastic family of characters, this book can be read as a standalone, but will obviously be more meaningful if you’ve read the earlier books and can therefore enjoy the dynamics and the group.

This is Alex’s book. Alex is the brother of Kate and Bram (heroine and hero of books #1 and #2 respectively), and is the clown of the family. Always the fun-loving joker, he is cool, confident and cruisy, a dedicated soldier and he cares deeply for his family and friends. So much so that he tags along as a wingman on a double date with one of his fellow soldiers, never expecting that the woman he meets is going to turn his whole world upside down.

Sarai lives her life according to rules and lists. She works and studies, putting all of her efforts into graduating and making a good life for herself, she doesn’t deviate from her plans. And then along comes Alex. Sweet, sexy and charming, she tries to keep her distance so that she doesn’t lose her way, but it doesn’t take long for him to wear her down with his flirty persistence, and she soon finds herself completely swept up by the irresistible man.

Alex and Sarai together are absolutely sensational, and though fast-moving, their whirlwind of a romance feels natural, and I loved watching them fall so hard and so completely. They follow their hearts, and their relationship is sweet, fun, sexy and wonderfully functional.

“You’re the best decision I ever made.”

But even in their blissful, loved-up state, there is still drama that they need to face, and it is heartbreaking. I cried for them, and my heart ached, but watching them work through it is so wonderfully written, and shows just how far they’ve come and how deep their love for each other is, and I thought it was beautifully handled.

This book is not as angsty or dramatic as others in the series, but it still brings the feels, and I enjoyed the lightness of the story. The characters from previous book are all involved, and right up in Alex and Sarai’s business, which I loved, and the story ends in a great place, leaving me with a big grin on my face.

I loved this one. It’s fast-moving, but it’s a beautiful story of family, love, and following your heart.

Piece Of My Heart is the fourth book in the Fostering Love series by Nicole Jacquelyn and is told from Alex and Sarai’s point of view.

Sarai has every moment of her life planned. She plans to avoid surprises, not realizing that some surprises are unavoidable. With only a few more months of college under her belt she’s more focused than she’s ever been. That’s why meeting Alex is the worst thing for her planning mind.

Alex is a man that lives life one day at a time, he welcomes surprises, and isn’t afraid to put his heart on the line. When his co-worker invites him on a double date, he nearly refuses, but the promise of a free meal is too good to pass up. When he first sees Sarai, he knows deep in his heart that this girl is the one he’s been searching for, and she’s not afraid to give him a run for his money. He just needs to show her he’s worth pushing her plans to the side for.

My Thoughts:

Holy emotions.
When I started Piece Of My Heart, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I read the first three books in the fostering love series, so what I did know, there was going to be either a hint or a hell of a lot of angst. Either way, I was invested as soon as I read the blurb.

I always love when an author forces characters to step out of their comfort zones. There’s a hint of awkwardness that is quickly followed by a freedom that comes along with doing something different and realizing that the world isn’t going to end if you veer off the path. These moments are the most real for me, which made me love Sarai’s character that much more. I felt her fear and her pain straight through my heart, bone deep.

Sarai is your typical bookworm, and what makes her unique is the fact that she can keep a man on his toes with her clever puns and quick wit. I loved the fact that she was independent and didn’t take no shit when standing up for herself and her friends. This woman is sassy and fierce.

Alex is the boy next door, with a sweet smile and a jokester attitude. I absolutely adore his type of character. I loved his down to earth vibe, and considering he’s Abraham’s twin really threw me for a loop. These two may look identical, but they couldn’t be more different where personalities are concerned.

Alex and Sarai’s first encounter was awesome! I loved the fact that Nicole Jacquelyn built this relationship from the ground up. They started off as acquaintances, then verged into the friend territory, before finally jumping in head first. The development in the relationship only made the angst that much deeper. My heart was ripped out of my heart and stomped on. If it’s possible to be shell shocked from a novel turning in a direction I didn’t see coming, then that’s what I felt. I literally wanted to curl under a blanket and have a good cry for a few minutes…. Or hours…. Or days….

That’s the absolute worst but also the best thing. When you’re riding a high from a couple that is soooo damn cute and irresistible and then the rug gets pulled out from underneath you and you feel like you’re falling flat on your face. That’s is exactly what Nicole Jacquelyn did to me! I didn’t see the outcome ending like that, I felt immediate rage and wanted to throw my kindle.

Overall, Piece Of My Heart was an intriguing read that captured my attention from the start. The reason why I dropped a star on my rating was simply for the fact that the ending felt a tad bit rushed. I wanted just a little bit more raw and emotion in order to tip it up to a full five star rating. Besides that small fact, I loved everything about this novel from the heat, to banter, to the angst. It was a great read and one that I recommend to all that love those romances that come out of nowhere.

DNF @15% (first time at 12% apparently🤪 back in 2022 but I forgot all about it)
TLDR, shitty characters, I’m bored. How do I have so much to say about a book I gave up on after 15% anyway??? But you can read it if you want…

Unfortunately this series ends for me after book 2. I just re-read books one & two recently and thought I’d finally give book four a chance. I finally read book three in 2022 (only gave it 3 stars, didn’t love it) and couldn’t remember why I didn’t finish the series then. Turns out I got 12% into book four a year and a half ago and highlighted shitty internal monologue of Alex’s about how civilians didn’t understand the bond of service members right after his “friend”/fellow army man Sean was an abusive asshole to his new girlfriend, the heroine, Sarai’s, best friend. He ends it with saying he actively dislikes Sean now, but idk the whole thing rubbed me the wrong way so I guess I DNF’d right then and there. Idk if I intended to come back to it or not but obviously I never did.

I re-read the book (because obviously I didn’t remember much if I couldn’t even remember I started this book once) and made it to 15% before I officially gave up 😌✌️ I honestly just don’t like any of the characters. Alex has been cute and fun in previous books, but he’s just coming across really dorky and lame so far and I don’t like his choice of company(Sean, obviously). I haven’t read enough of the book to really get to know him, but honestly the real reason I’m stopping now is that I just don’t want to ever read another word about Sean that’s how much I hate him and how annoying I find that plot line. Which is crazy, I know, because he’s just a side character, but I know that abusive relationship will be dragged out through the whole book (searched my kindle to confirm🤪) and it’s already getting on my nerves way too much if that’s not obvious 😅. Besides that so far Sarai isn’t endearing to me either. Her family drama is already annoying and I just don’t fucking care to know more about it or her lol.

Plus the whole tragedy that’s *spoilers* super obviously about a miscarriage (sorry if you didn’t pick that up)*spoilers over* doesn’t happen until wayyy late in the book (also searched my kindle to see if there was any reason to keep going 😅) which is weird because this book was framed in the blurb as more of a marriage in trouble trope which it’s not at all. I thought we were just going to be plopped into their married life or a super sped up love story timeline and then tragedy striking and the majority of the book being about them finding their way back to each other, but no it seems to be a normal instalove/whirlwind romance with a sad end that they…overcome? With lots of shitty characters/family members to endure in the mean time? Idk but that’s not what I signed up for and I find this book very boring so far so I just can’t. There doesn’t appear to be anything to look forward to and no one was convincing me to stick around so I’m out of here 🫡 Sucks cause I’d love some cameos of Ani, Bram, Katie, Shane and all of their kids but I can’t suffer through this so byeee✌️

This 4th installment in the Fostering Love series didn't disappoint. Each installment deals with deep topics, but Jacquelyn treats them all with care. *triggers listed further into the review*

We FINALLY get Alex's love story in this one. I have wanted to read his for quite a while now, as he was a character that always interested me. I wanted to know what truly kept him away from his family that you could tell that he so dearly loved.

The "meet cute" for Alex and Sarai was SO PERFECT for who Alex is, and I love that it was from his perspective. Sarai in so many ways is the perfect counterpart to Alex, and it's so apparent in their first meeting.

Though the relationship moves quickly, it's still not insta love. (Or at least it didn't bother me.) They spend a lot of time together in a short amount of time, and then make some decisions that lead to them growing more and more in love. By the end of this book I had cried more than once, and it was so well done.

I hope with all of my heart that you all will check out this beautiful series. I will continue to pick up any books that come out in this series.

Potential triggers: Death of a loved one, domestic abuse, (side couple, but still there and on display on occasion) car accident, depression, thoughts of suicide.

Alex Evans.

The Fostering Love series never fails to deliver. These books are packed so full of emotion, delightful family banter, and angsty, heartfelt romance, I have lost my heart to every single one of these books.

Piece of my Heart was no exception.

This book hooked me immediately. The writing is so smart and engaging, it was impossible not to get sucked in. Y'all, Alex Evans is something special. He's perfection. Strong, solid, safe, and dead sexy to boot. I adored him and his steadfast love for Sarai. I loved his playful, cocky attitude and the way he slowly chipped away at the walls Sarai had built around her life. I loved how easily they fell into each other.

That said, the pacing was a little off for me in this one. Sometimes things felt like they moved too quickly and other times I found myself a little impatient, like things were moving too slowly. I lost the thread of it a little bit in the middle, but then was sucked back in by the time I reached the lovely, emotional ending.

Like the other books in this series, there are some serious emotional punches and challenges for Alex and Sarai. I lost my heart to the Evans family collective a long time ago, so it was a treat getting to reconnect with them all at various points throughout the book. Over all, this is another fantastic read in this wonderful series! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

Piece Of My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn is another emotional addition to the Fostering Love series.
Alex Evans has watched his siblings and cousins fall in love and build their own families. He's beyond happy for them and hopes one day he will find that same kind of relationship. He never expected to be one that experiences love at first sight. He never expected to find a woman who completely charmed him while blatantly rejecting him. Sarai Levy has done both and now he wants to get to know her and become part of her life.
Sarai Levy is working on her masters degree. She's working full time while trying to keep up with the demands in school. She's on the home stretch of getting her degree with less than a year left when she meets Alex through their mutual friends. They are both playing wingmen for their friends and have no intentions of anything else except a nice dinner out. Alex is the prettiest man Sarai has met. To top it off he's funny, charming, respectful, and intelligent. She can't alter her rigid schedule for anything.
Their friendship progresses as both their friends take their relationship to the next level and move in together. They are thrown together in social situations. Sarai has reservations about her friend's new fiancee and is getting bad vibes. She can't understand how her friend and Alex don't feel the same reservations.
Sarai finally agrees to another date with Alex after weeks of texting. What starts out as a casual dating quickly escalates into something more. Sarai finds herself heading home with Alex to Oregon for Thanksgiving with his family. What should of been a fun holiday weekend turns into a quick stop in Vegas on their way home to Missouri. Now they are officially man and wife. Now they can find the time in their busy schedules for each other and their intense love for one another.
Sarai's family doesn't take the elopement news well. Their friends relationship is falling apart and downright dangerous. Sarai's reservations are coming to light. Alex is being supportive and respectful of her opinions even though he can't see it. One night changes everything when their friends implode on their world. Sarai and Alex are losing much more than two friends, their own relationship will be put to the test.
Alex and Sarai will experience things most people can't handle. They will have to depend on their love for one another to make it through these rough times. Can their love survive the storm?
Once again Nicole Jacquelyn delivered a beautiful, emotional love story that places importance on family as well as love. I have loved every book in the Fostering Love Series and highly recommend them all.
Piece Of My Heart can be read as a stand alone or in series order. This book is beyond excellent.

If I hadn’t of read the synopsis I would have liked this book fine. I did like it fine. However, the synopsis is VERY misleading. What the synopsis eludes to doesn’t even happen until around 80% and is a small blip of this story— which I found very annoying. Otherwise it was a fine addition to the series but nothing blew me away. The first book is the real winner and you’d be totally good to stop there.

5 Fostering Love Stars

This is the last book in the Fostering Love series by Nicole Jacquelyn and it had me hooked from the very first page. Sarai Levy has always known what she’s wanted. She has everything planned, nothing will stop her from reaching her goal. Not even a handsome blind date or so she thinks.  Alex Evans walks into her life and all her organised plans go out the window.

I loved the connection between these characters, I also loved that Alex's story finish off this series. It was such a lovely read, full of hurt, sadness, love and hope, a great finish to the Fostering Love Series. I so love this family, the characters, their tight bond. Overall, a great heartwarming story and I certainly recommend reading it.

I was so happy to see our people pleasing joker have his love story. Alex has a heart of gold that hides a deep rooted hurt and fear of loss. Sarai has suffered a loss that makes her need for "a plan" almost a compulsion. When she finally just free falls it starts a chain of events that is both overwhelming and devastating.

Of all the female characters in this series, she was my hardest to really like or related to, but the word magic of this author brought me around. I just had a time or two when I wanted to slap her for her disregard for Alex's feelings.

I'm sad to see this series end. It was fabulous and I would highly recommend it.

3.5!! This was honestly my least favorite in the series and I still really enjoyed it. Some things that happened were a little ott for my taste but overall I had a great time reading it. I really loved Alex and definitely grew to love Sarai, haha. In bigger/sadder news... I have now officially read NJ's whole backlist (I am 99% sure). Whelp. What now!!?? Maybe time for some rereads I suppose!

3.5 stars. Alex is my favorite character of them all. So perhaps I expected a lot for his story. And while he was fantastic in every way, I didn’t experience the tumultuous feelings like the first 2 books. There wasn’t much in the way of angst, the romance was instant and easy, and the obstacles were predictable and contrived.
