There are some typos and grammar issues but still overall this was a good read, with some nice dashes of humour thrown in.

The two main characters whilst insanely attracted to each other, seem to be the only two oblivious to the fact that the mutual attraction simmers powerfully in the air.

Mel at times in her behaviour and thoughts feels like a teenage girl rather than the grown women she is, luckily I was in a mood where I didn't find it grating or annoying. I did enjoy her inter

This was cute! It has a very sweet hero, a bit of a sassy heroine and friends who made for some good entertainment. I’m more of a fan of a take charge hero and I think that’s why this book wasn’t more for me, but I really did think it was a good read. I know those readers who love the sweet guys will fall hard for Morris. I really liked the group of guys in this. I always get a kick out out a a group of friends that are as close as these guys are. I’ll definitely check out more in the series. I ...more

Didn't keep my interest. Sorry!
Mellie has been crushing on Morris Jackson since they day she met him. What she did not know though is that Morris wants to explore things with her but is nervous about it. Will two people who are meant to be together take a chance on each other or will the person who is determined to keep them apart destroy it before it starts?

This was quite funny. A ton of characters are involved for future books. I liked Mellie and Morris together, the chemistry sizzles with each turn of the page. Great serie

I really wanted to enjoy this book. I loved the premise. The blurb was great. But I just couldn't get into it. The writing felt ham-handed and juvenile, and the editing was really poor - both things that a good editor would fix, and unfortunately what this story needed to take it from what felt like an amateur first draft to a polished final published manuscript. Hope to see more polish from this author in the future as her stories could be great with the right editor to help make them shine.

I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down until I read the last page.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I enjoyed the characters so much! I just wanted a quick and easy read, and that's exactly what I got.
I did have a problem with the spelling and grammatical errors throughout the whole story, which is why I brought my rating down. It interrupted the flow of the story. It wasn't bad enough to quit reading, but definitely very noticeable.

So, my sister introduced me to this author and I'm very grateful for that. The story was very engaging, sexy and so funny in parts. I would definitely recommend and I can't wait to read book two.

That being said, the ONLY thing that detracted from the story was the grammatical errors...and there were lots. At times, it distracted me from the story. I know, I's probably my own little quirk.

Nikki Mays is going on my "must-read" list.

When Morris finally gets up enough nerve to ask out Mellie, it sets off a chain reaction that neither saw coming. They've been circling around each other for months, unknown to the other, but Marc, Mellie's sister and Morris' SWAT partner, finally arranges for Morris to come over to his house so he can get her alone for a second in order for him to finally make his move.

Mellie has been crushing on her obnoxious brother's partner for months now, but she turns into a brain dead idiot around him,

This is a new author for me and oh man this story was great. This story is filled with love from a HOT cop who finally has the courage to ask out his friends sister. Morris has felt a connection with Mellie since he first laid eyes on her and it been the same connection for her as well.
Morris and Mellie both danced around each other and it was fun to see them fall in love. The secondary characters make a big impact and are so funny. Can't wait to see the rest of th

*I read Book 1 & 2 back to back so this is a review for both*

(I’ve seen a lot of reviews for both books claiming that a good editor would help a lot. I don’t know if I had final versions or ARCs but there were a lot of mispellings and grammar issues. As a regular reader of review copies though, this kind of thing doesn’t really affect me but I wanted to put this out there as a warning to others who may be a little more discerning :) )

When I saw this book, the title and the cover attracted me straightway. It has a very Lani Lynn Vale feel to it (and I love Lani Lynn Vale). When I read the blurb I was hooked. Who does not want to read about awkward shy girls and badass SWAT boys.

I loved Mellie’s initial awkwardness around Morris. She has some real moments when you just want to curl up and hide your face in embarrassment for her but as her character and story develops, you get to see this introverted, awkward women come alive i

This book and this author show so much promise!

Mellie has had a crush on Morris since she first met him through her brother. Morris, too, has had a crush on Mellie since first meeting her. Once they come together, they find that they're better together. I loved Morris' protectiveness over Mellie, and I loved Mellie's sarcastic wit.

There were a lot of good things about this book. The plot/storyline was really good. The author did a good job of keeping me guessing as to who was trying to
Mellie, a coffee owner, has a crush on Morris, her brother's SWAT partner.

Morris is a SWAT officer. He is muscular, has tattoos, very nice full kissable lips and he has a crush on Mellie.

I love the fact that they both like each other but can't seem to admit it to each other. Everyone else around them can see that they are interested in each other and that they will eventually end up together. It isn't until Mellie's brother, Marc, invites Morris over to their house that they start going out and

Absolutely marvellous characterizations!

A whimsical tale. The inner dialogue of both the main male and female characters is hilarious … likely because it is so close to real life of what we all do in these situations. The kibitzing of the main male character and all his male team mates shows a great camaraderie and support of one another. The relationship between the main female character and her best friend is also full of repartee; along with her loving relationship with her brother. There is

This book was so much fun to read! I busted out laughing so many times and most of it was when Morris was with his friends. Granted they've known each other for awhile but they cracked me up! Mellie fit in perfectly and had them laughing so hard they were crying! I love her fire and her passion but man is she dense at times. Things just went over her head so many times. I loved how every one knew but them two and basically pushed them together. Morris and Mellie are hilarious together. Morris is ...more

Mel cannot act normally around the guy she’s interested in, she clams up and does nothing but daydream and stare. Morris isn’t any better at interacting with Mel, especially with him working with her brother on the police swat team after the special forces.

Finally after some push from Morris’s team and her brother he makes a move. Too bad it’s going to come with a cop stalker who turns into a Mel stalker.

This book shares the journey of getting their HEA and dealing with psychos.

This has been one of the most amusing pieces I have read, and I can't wait to read more into this series. Actually, I am looking forward to reading the follow-up as I find Damon to be one of the most intriguing members of this group of comedic friends. I totally dig their camaraderie, and knowing that they're so close-knit makes it so much titillating! In this first selection, we have Melanie/Mellie and Morris who are both totally into each other but are afraid to approach one another considerin ...more

What a fun series. Mellie owns a coffee shop and has the hots for her brother's SWAT teammate Morris. Morris has a crush on her as well but not the courage to ask her out. In a nice departure from the usual trope, rather than trying to keep them apart her brother Marcus helps them get together. As a side note, the interactions between brother and sister are laugh out loud hysterical. Mellie gives as good as she gets and it's clear Marcus loves and respects her while taking great pleasure in anno ...more

Good story with potential for the rest of the series

I would’ve given this book four stars, if not for the multitude of editing issues. Incorrect words (think “your” instead of “you’re”), punctuation missing or existing where it shouldn’t, and outright tense changes within a chapter really took away from my ability to throughly enjoy the story.

Outside of the desperate need for a better editor, this was a pretty good book. Mel and Morris have awkwardly danced around each other for months and fina

This was enjoyable read. Mellie has fallen hard for her brother Marc's SWAT teammate Morris. Morris likewise has fallen for Mellie. When they get together, the chemistry between leaps out at you. Much of the book follows the pair as their relationship develops, with Mellie bumbling her way along, which only serves to make Morris love her all the more. There is however the issue of who is sending Mellie black roses. Mellie knows it's not Morris or her brother Marc, she doesn't even like roses and ...more
I couldn't decide between a 2 star and 3 star rating with this one. I went with the 3 star because the story has so much potential. Mel and Morris are great together, the supporting characters were great, and the story itself could have been amazing...if you don't take these things into consideration: 1. grammar, sentence structure, and overall editing was sorely lacking. 2. some of the humor seemed forced. 3. the relationship between Mel and her brother was ridiculous. Good story and series potential but some struggles

I have to start off saying this book had some great potential with story line and characters. Mellie is kind of a hot mess that you love. She can be so awkward but it just makes you chuckle. Morris is simply swoon worthy!

The reason I am giving 3 stars is for a few reason. #1 there are some serious plot holes. The story seems to jump around quite a bit, but often leaving out some key pieces. I won’t go into spoilers but some huge holes towards th

Great story, horrible proofing

I really liked this story between Mellie and Morris. All the other characters help make this story that much better. They help build the strength of the two main characters. Even though this story is truly about M & M, the supporting
characters get depth. The storyline was easy to follow. There were many times I was laughing out loud and my husband was looking at me weird.

My biggest issue is the proof reading and editing. I highlighted over 200 grammatical, punctua

Funny, exciting and sexy

So, this is kinda tough. The story itself, the meat of it, was great! I loved Morris and Mel. I enjoyed the building of the characters for the series. I laughed SO HARD at the antics of Mel and Marc (brother)! That alone was worth finishing the book. The drama was great, though predictable. I liked that job-wise Morris is an alpha but around Mel he's a puppy (beta?).

However, the grammar/writing was a problem. There were errors on almost every single page. The author can'

Mellie is a coffee shop owner who's brother is on a SWAT team. His coworkers are hot but Mel has a major crush on one in particular - Morris. Morris has had his eye on Mel for a while but thinks her brother won't like it if they get together. Finally her brother Marc gets onto Morris for taking so long to make his move. He finally does and they start dating. The interaction between her and her brother Marc is hilarious but after a while it got on my nerves. I get it that Mel is tough but it was ...more
