Walls are meant to keep the monsters out…

Deep in the forest there is a wall where no wall should be. Behind it live the people of the Commune, the last remnant of human kind.

Jennie Caraway has lived behind the wall her entire life, certain that it protects her and her brother from the lemerons, ravenous undead monsters whose only desire is to kill – and feed.

Jennie’s

How would you feel/react if you suddenly found out if everything you believed was a lie? This is exactly what happened one seemingly ordinary day to Jennie.
I can not imagine living behind a wall in a commune. It sounds so dark and depressing! I need fresh air and sunlight, not dark dungeon type atmosphere.
This book grips you from page 1. The questions that come to mind immediately are: Who are the elders REALLY? Why are they in the commune? Where do the missing people really go?
I love books

I truly enjoyed this Teen/YA fast-paced story of a young woman and her friends discovering a horrifying truth. The author’s unexpected plot twists and rich characters give the story a unique variation on a popular theme, keeping it far from becoming cliché. Her vivid imagery, strong characters, and an exciting story full of unexpected turns left me hungry for more. I look forward to the next book in the Secret Archives Trilogy.

So I have been hesitant lately to read new books, most of them have been lackluster. So when I got this book I wasn't sure what I would think. From the minute that I started reading this book I knew it was different. It reminded me alot of The Giver and Hunger Games, which are among my favorite books.
It started out with introducing Jennie. She is the main character. A strong, confident young woman. She takes care of her father and brother ever since their mother was taken. I love that she is not

The Dociles (The Secret Archives) is the kind of story that I typically gravitate towards. And this story did not disappoint.
Set in a time hundreds of years in the future, behind a tall wall that protects the Commune. Jeannie never thought that the life she had grown up knowing, the safety she thought her and her family had always had could have been a lie passed down through generations by their Elders. That is until one day her teacher told an unteachable secret and a handsome boy that

The basic idea of this book is interesting. Something apart from the usual zombie outbreak. It's actually not an outbreak but 200 years or more later where a little community has formed and they are shielded from the outside world by a big wall. But as so often in extreme situations, people don't always behave human.
The writing could have been a bit more fluent and suspense was very short-lived. It wasn't bad but just a bit technically written. Still, it was interesting enough to keep me

WOW - first book that I have read by Valerie Puri - and I can foresee that it will not be the last!!!

The main character of the book is Jennie Caraway. She has lived behind the wall for her entire life. She listens to what the Elders say -- but she knows that it should not be totally believed. Her main concern is protecting her and her brother. One day Ethan shows up in her barn -- she immediately doesn't ask questions, but treats his injuries. Once she talks more to Ethan she starts to question

We meet Jennie Caraway who has lived her whole life in this village behind a wall, they all live there including animals and grow their own food. All she knows is that only there it is safe, only them are the surviving people.
Till one day her teacher shows her class something that makes Jennie believe she's been lied too, she wants the truth.
To top it off she meets Ethan, he comes from behind the wall.
She, her brother, her best friend and Ethan investigate in deep secret no one can know that is

I like the plot of the book and have read a few similar to it before such as The Horde, The Maze Runner, The Girl Who Dare Think, among others. The constant character POV swapping was a bit much, tooooo many different perspectives. Some I can see being important for perspective and developing the plot fully, though some just having one chapter from their view such as Marlene who’ve been enough and focusing more in the Main characters such as Ethan and Jennie. Aside from the almost overwhelming ...more
