A lovely book telling the story of the visit of Basi and Yuan Yuan to San Diego in 1987. These two pandas, like Pan Pan, the grandfather of Bao Bao and Bei Bei at Washington's National Zoo, were found starving after the bamboo crop failure of 1983. Fortunately all around, they were nursed back to health and sent as goodwill ambassadors to the US. Their visit to the San Diego Zoo was an overwhelming success.

This is a lovely book written for children but will be enjoyed by anyone who happily cannot resist pandas.
