Must be blonde, beautiful, and a good Catholic girl…

On a sunny morning in late September, Shannon Blaine, a blonde, green-eyed 34-year old wife and mother of two, sets off on a jog along the rural roads near her home in Lake George, New York.  It’s her usual a.m. routine, her “me time” after dropping the kids off at school…except on this day she never returns. This is the next book in the Bailey Weggins mystery series. But the mystery is self-contained to this book. So it can be read as a standalone. I have only read book 7 in the series, Even If It Kills Her.

This book takes place shortly after book 7. The narrator is Bailey (1st person POV). Bailey is a crime journalist. And in this book she is working for an online publication called Crime Beat. The story takes place around Lake George, New York.

I loved the setting for this book. Especia

It's been a little while since I read one of Kate White's Bailey Weggins mysteries. This series just gets better, and there's no reason you can't pick it up with Such a Perfect Wife. I have a weakness for mysteries featuring journalists, and this one was a page turner that I couldn't put down.

Bailey Weggins has been writing true crime books lately, so when a new online magazine asks her to cover a story in Lake George, New York, she's eager to turn investigative reporter again. Shannon Blaine we

Shannon Blaine isn't your typical blonde, sexy mom, and Catholic girl gone off the deep end and she didn't deserve to die!
She was simply out for a run but never returned and now all eyes, all fingers, all blame are shifting to those around her.
You see it could've been a tragic accident, or perhaps she's hurt and needs help, or perhaps she left on her own never to be found.
Whichever you choose it must be noted her body will eventually be found but not by her family but by a journalist crime repor

I started reading Such a Perfect Wife (Harper) late on a Sunday night, and boy was that a bad idea. The end of each chapter left cliffhanger after cliffhanger until I was losing sleep from racing through the book.

Such a Perfect Wife by Kate White is the murder mystery story of Shannon Blaine, the perfect, blonde, churchgoing wife with two kids. She runs every single morning after dropping her kids at school, but one day never returns. Is it the husband – who seems genuinely grief-stricken? What

This weeks read was provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review.

Criminal reporter Bailey Weggins is sent on assignment to the idyllic small town of Lake George, NY. After dropping her kids off at school , Shannon Blaine sets out for her morning run, only this time, she doesn’t come back. It doesn’t take long for Bailey to compile a short list of possible suspects; her seemingly perfect husband (husbands are ALWAYS a suspect amiright), a bitter older sister, a creepy hotel manager, a

How have I not read this series or this author yet? I actually own a few of this author's books already. I can promise you will be seeing more reviews of her books from me in the near future. This book is just what I was currently looking for!

I am going to start with the plot. The plot of this book is so well laid out and built from start to finish. It keeps you on your toes waiting for the next shoe to drop or the next clue to present itself. I turned the pages well into the night, wanting to g

I have only read one Kate White book before and that was probably a good five, or more, years ago. I remember loving it and had completely forgotten about this author until winning an early copy of her newest book Such a Perfect Wife.

This book had me hooked from the onset! I haven’t read a mystery like this in so long and was quickly reminded of how much I love them. The story begins with the immediate disappearance of

Thanks to the publisher, Harper, via LibraryThing, for an Uncorrected Proof in exchange for my honest opinion.

The setting is in scenic northeastern New York State and the author does the location justice. It sounds like it would be an ideal summer vacation area. This is a well-plotted murder mystery that features Bailey Weggins as an investigative reporter. I was not familiar with this series of mystery stories but since I enjoyed this novel, I may consider reading more of them.

I loved this book from page one and read it in one day. Bailey is like an old friend to me now as I have read each of Kate's books since her first, which was a selection on the Regis and Kelly show years ago. I still remember the details of that book as I do with each of the ones she has written. This book may be read as a stand alone but I would never want to miss all the other "Bailey" books. A fast paced mystery with a female detective, this book has twist and turns like an old country road. ...more

This was the first time that I read a book from the Bailey Weggins mystery series and I will definitely be reading more! This was a very enjoyable murder mystery that kept me guessing throughout the entire story. The story is set in Lake George - when a young mother is murdered there is a contingent of reporters that converge on the case. Bailey, a reporter, is provided a tip by the murderer and then she discovers the body thus inserting herself into the story of a possible religious serial kill ...more

First of all, thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC. This has no way influenced my opinion of this book. Secondly, this is a genre I typically don't read. Thirdly, this is the first book I've read by this author. I have no idea if she has written other works or not. Now to the review. I'll keep this short and sweet. I appreciated the writing style and the effort the author put into it. The chapter breaks seemed to come at odd times in the narrative. It was suspenseful enough to ke ...more

Bailey Weggins…number 8!

I cannot believe this is number 8 in the series. I’ve been reading since the first book came out and can honestly say, NONE have disappointed!!

Shannon is a daily runner, minus Sunday’s because she attends church. She is a Wife and a Mom and has recently begun restarting her career at the family business. Suddenly, she disappears. Where did she go?

Bailey shows up and begins investigating and ends up finding something truly awful..but what is it? And how do the pieces fit?

Thank you, Harper Collins, for an advanced digital copy of this book. My thoughts are my own.

I'm on the fence about this one. Also, maybe could use a different title - you don't get too much focus on the wife being "perfect."

One sentence synopsis: Bailey Weggins reports on a missing wife/mother in upstate New York.

I've read White's Bailey Weggins books since the beginning, and this one is fine, but it lacks enthusiasm. The plot is fairly straightforward and Bailey's relationship with her long-te

I enjoy listening to the Bailey Weggins books and this one is no exception. Bailey is down to earth, sharp and capable, and there’s a hint of nostalgia in the way she’s described that reminds me of the books I read in the late 90s and early aughts.

The narrator’s voice reminded me a bit of Siri but after the first 30 minutes or so I got used to the style. I enjoyed the little twists and turns and that the book took place in an area I visited just last year, making it easy to see everything in my

I loved this book! I did not see the twist/ending coming. But it was more than a "guess who did it"
mystery. The characters were interesting and not clichéd, in particular an older female reporter that the main character, a young reporter Bailey Weggins, befriends. A very touching relationship. The setting was also very enjoyable, and unusual-- a beautiful upstate NY lake setting, but with some seedy downsides. There wasn't a lull in the book -- the pages flew by as the story deepens, and more ch
