My father built sailboats. Having access to these beautiful and functional creations supplied many moments of nautical Zen, and a love of seafaring entertainment. From there, my imagination expanded with 15-years’ experience as a costume designer/seamstress in theatre, an impressive source of plot and character ideas. Oddly enough, quirkier stories and characters arose from an eclectic mix of tenants who rented offices during my 26-year ownership of a shared office facility. This outré experience, a love of classic movies and literature, and a fondness for storytelling, prompted this historical action adventure romance trilogy called Bound By the Sea. Enjoy!

Of course I read it. I wrote it.
Its hard to be objective when reviewing one's own creation. One of the reasons why I liked this story was that I concentrated on more of what I know, in particular costuming in the theatre. I spent 20 years working in the theatre in every aspect, from acting to directing and all the places in between. It was fun to pull those memories forward and use them in the story. Secondly, I actually knew a professor in college who was thought to read minds, or so his students believed. It was fun to bring him back (he has since passed and of course the name was changed in the book) and take this aspect of his character further.
More challenging was writing Emily's character as she is a naïve dreamer. Not my type of role model, for sure. Yet, she remarkably blossoms in to a formidable woman by the end of the book.
I love to intertwine moments in history with my fictional stories. This book is no exception, and I do take a bit of author's prerogative in stretching those events to fit in with the plot.
Now that I have waxed on, I can only hope reader, that you will enjoy the story.
