'Magic's Demise' is the first in the 'Descendants of War' series, following the prequel, 'Harmonies of War: the Guide'. This unique epic fantasy series deals directly with mental health, specifically depression. Fitzgerald has taken each of the voices of depression and given them a name, a voice, and a purpose in life. The Temperate Lands are where each of the most oppress ...more

"Stuck in the crossroads of magic, secrets, and time lies the blank banks of a dark and icy river, lined with the shed scales of our departed Ancients…"

First of all, thanks to the author for sending me the e-copy of her book in exchange for an honest review.
To be honest, the storyline was really captivating and the concept of magic was a bit different. Also, the concept and background of the descendants and ancients was something new to ponder upon.

My favorite characters: Aurora, Xenos, Ipo,

Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own and are not influenced in any way.

I wanted to like this book so much. It had everything I needed in the synopsis: an interesting magic system, a queendom, a magical disease, and journey to find the cure. For me, it never really came together. There are numerous POVs and the voice never really chan

I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review:

I was looking forward to this because the premise sounded pretty good. A disease that targets people with magic, a queendom in peril, and a group of heroes on the journey to find a cure. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to its potential.
I looked up the book on goodreads before I accepted the book and saw that there was another book by the same author with a similar sounding title. So, I asked her whether it was a sequel and whether I should

First of all, this series deserves soo much more love and attention! Ruby has created a beautiful fantasy-world with amazing characters. What I love most about it is that its filled with strong women and, as Ive mentioned before, that we also get a QUEENdom instead of the usual Kingdoms... seriously, this is such a big plus for me, and I want to see this more in books! 🙌🏼✨ Where are all the Queendoms?

Its hard to review this teaser for book 2 without spoiling things that happens in book 1, so Im

I didn’t realized that this is actually the second book from a series, even though the story is not connected to the first book but I feel really lost at first because the characters are already developed and I don’t know their history at all.

Months after Thurnadan win the Battle of Venom and defeated King Zagan, a new mysterious disease is spreading and killing every Descendants. A prophecy from a long time ago predict that humanity will someday perish because of the disease called Jinx, the pr

First off I want to say thank you to Ruby Fitzgerald for contacting me to review her book. This was the first time I've ever received a review copy and to say I was excited would be an understatement! I was incredibly nervous too, but thankfully I can say with total honesty that I enjoyed this book!

I was really daunted by the beginning of the book because there isn't a lot of build up before we're thrown into the action and

I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review.

The synopsis for Descendants of War: Magic's Demise was intriguing. I was initially concerned about having not read the prequel but was assured by the author it was not necessary. However, the small catch-up prologue left me reeling from the info-dump. Throughout the book, the events of the prequel were referenced yet important (it seemed to me) information was missing.

This book is written in 3rd person omniscient, which I tend to not like. T

I received this ebook in exchange for my honest review! I couldn’t be more thankful!

First off I want to mention the really awesome fact that in this book they refer to a Queendom instead of a Kingdom!!! I was so pumped when I saw that!!!

I really enjoyed the elemental magic, the adventure, the plot and the writing in this book.

There is a disease that has taken over the lands so a search party forms of some really interesting characters to try and find a cure. They only have bits and pieces of

This was a good read. Great concepts and worldbuilding with a rich and detailed history. I thought the way magic in the story was presented was really cool. I liked that one Descendant (magic possessor) could wield multiple kinds of magic. *With there being so many different kinds of magic, the legend was really helpful.*

The characters were compelling and very interesting. It was great to see some of them grow throughou

A story of bravery, friendships, honesty and dishonesty. Once you start reading you will get lost in the journey through temperate lands

(I was sent a free teaser in exchange for an honest review but this does not affect my opinions of the book in any way.)

Okay. All I can say is that this book is definitely an upgrade from "Harmonies of War" and is definitely something to look forward too! When I read "Harmonies of War" last year, I really loved the concept of the book (all the different kinds of powers and elemental magic, a fantasy reader's dream!) but I thought it was lacking a few things. One of these things is an explanation

Before getting into the review, I’d like to preface it by saying that I received this ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and are 100% honest.

First of all, I want to thank Ruby Fitzgerald and Solider Bear Entertainment for the free e-book copy. However, it does not alter my rating or my review.

I am a bit surprised that I have not heard about Ruby Fitzgerald before I got this book – her world seems to me like the kind of magical realm that should be wildly popular. This books hits home in a lot of ways. I read the author's bio (see below for reference) and it just made everything make sense to me. This isn't a fluff piece, romance-type fantasy. This is truth told through medieval magic. And I love it.

Bio: The characters in the series are manifestations of different aspects of depression. Silvia is sorrow and hopelessness, Xenos- isolation, Jestin- addiction, Eleanor- irrationality, Malcolm- denial, and so on. Each person embodies a p

Oh what a tease it is!

In this book, there is a terrible virus affecting people with magic abilities. Those who contract it die an agonizing death as their gifts turn against them. This virus is believed to be the Jinx, a curse of the Ancients. It is up to a small search party to find a much needed cure before the virus decimates everyone. As long as it's only going after those with magic, it isn't exactly the end of the world but if it mutates... when it mutates...
