Moonlight and Aleena: A Tale of Two Friends

Rate this book
In search of more unicorns like herself, Moonlight ventures into the Enchanted Forest, ready for an adventure. Instead of finding unicorns, she discovers a whole new world of fairies, magic, and all kinds of other creatures.

At first, the fairies are afraid of Moonlight, but with her kind heart and willingness to help them, they soon warm up to her. It turns out that the fairy flowers that give them their magic is in jeopardy because of a fire breathing dragon that burns them as he flies by.

Moonlight offers to find this dragon along with the help of Aleena, a spunky purple-haired fairy not afraid of danger. They set out to find the Mystic Cave which is in the deepest, darkest realms of the forest. Together, they learn how to face their fears, and above all else, the true meaning of friendship.

Moonlight and Aleena: A Tale of Two Friends is a children's book that romance author L. P. Dover wrote with her young daughter, Anna-Grace. This book is full of magic and imagination. It is not my usual genre to review, but I am a mom of five kids so I do read a lot of children's books with them. When I got the chance to review this book, I thought that it would be a fun book to read with my two youngest children and get their opinions. My two youngest kids are Nick, age six, and Maggie, age four. We read the book together and I interviewed them about it. I was going to do a video of them answering the questions, but I'm technically challenged and I couldn't figure out how to edit the video. Whomp whomp. So I am just posting the interview. Here's what they thought!

Q: Tell me a little bit about the book.
N: The story is about Moonlight and she met a fairy named Aleena who was blue. They saved the fairies from the dragon and he became their friend.

Q: Did you guys like the illustrations in the book?
N: Yes, I really liked the colors of Aleena and the unicorn's mane.
M: I liked the unicorn and the fairy because the fairy's dress is blue. I love the fairy and even the unicorn.

Q: What did you guys think of the story?
N: We liked it!

Q: What was your favorite part?
N: My favorite part was when moonlight met Aleena.
M: My favorite part was when they met the dragon, Zippy.

N: Who do you think the main character is? I think It's Moonlight, then Aleena, then Zippy.

Q: Who is your favorite character?
M: The dragon, Zippy.
N: Aleena, because she can fly and she's magical.

Q: Do you want to read more stories about Moonlight and Aleena?
N: Yes! Maybe in the next book they're going to go looking for more unicorns!
Q: Well, good because there will be another book coming soon, Moonlight and Aleena: Journey to the Snowy Forest!
M and N: Yay!

Q: Do you think other children would like this book?
N: Yes, especially girls. Sometimes boys don't like magical stuff that much. But I do! I love magical books like that one!

Q: So tell me how you would rate this book? Would you give it thumbs down, one thumbs up or two thumbs up?
N: A thousand thumbs up!
M: A thousand thumbs up too!
N: No, ten thousand thumbs up! No, a hundred thousand! 😊

So there you have it! Moonlight and Aleena: A Tale of Two Friends was a big hit! I would definitely recommend this cute, well-written, and magical book!

Unicorns, fairies, and Dragons what more could you ask for out of a kid's book? This book has a base of different and unlikely characters becoming friends in search of an adventure and some answers.

I loved reading this with my kids! They gasped and shrieked with surprise and excitement. There is nothing that warms a momma's heart more than reading with her kids and watching them get excited about the story and reading!

Each kid told me what they like and I did my best to quote them below with a bit better grammar and enunciation. (See Below)

Ben (5 years old): I loved it! The dragon in the cave has blue hair and breathed fire and I loved his name. The unicorn was on an adventure that was fun. The fairies were awesome and cool too. It was beautiful.

Maddie (3 years old): I like the colors and unicorn, fairies, and dragon! It surprised me!

I thought that this book was fantastic and liked the storyline and what happened in it! My favourite scene was when the characters became friends! I loved that there was a unicorn (Moonlight), fairies (Aleena) and a dragon (Zippy) in it too! I read this story to my aunt and it only took us about 50 minutes, so it's good read that other children my age will enjoy and have fun reading! The pictures were also very good and I loved them! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in Moonlight and Aleena's adventure! Thank you to L.P. Dover and Anna-Grace for an ARC of Moonlight and Aleena: A Tale of Two Friends!

This was adorable. The drawings were gorgeous.
The story is of Moonlight , a beautiful unicorn ,in search of other unicorns for she is lonely. Along the way Moonlight runs into some fairies in the forest and is challenged. Aleena the sweetest fairy in the book, agrees to join her on the adventure.

They become friends and find they are both adventurous. When the meet the dragon, they see not a scary creature but one that needs their help as well. Zippy is the dragon and he is too adorable especially his expression when asked not to eat fairies.

Aleena and Moonlight help Zippy and they all become friends and learn about one another. They learn that judging someone before learning about them can have you lose out on a wonderful friendship. We learn about trust and being helpful and honest. We see sharing and caring take place and how friendships are about loyalty, trust and helping each other. Aleena and Moonlight are great characters to show this to us. Zippy helps as well for he shows us what it is like for those that are left out because they are different. I love that Aleena and Moonlight embrace him and show him that he is great as he is and that different isn’t bad. They help him see he is beautiful and kind.

A wonderful book that has gorgeous drawings with a great story that is adorable, sweet and teaches us a lesson or two as well along the way.

I was lucky enough to receive signed copies of Moonlight & Aleena's first adventure. I've been a lifelong unicorn fan, so when I learned L.P. and Anna were writing a picture book, I knew I had to have this in my library. It did not disappoint. Moonlight is the last unicorn, that she knows of. All she wants is to find the rest of her kind. In her quest to find other magical creatures, she meets Aleena and the fairies, who would love to let her stay. Only there's a big problem. The local dragon keeps burning flowers and eating the fairies. I've since read this several times to my two-year-old son and he is a big fan, especially of Zippy. Who is Zippy, you ask? Read this picture book to find out! I promise you'll be enchanted.

This story is beyond adorable! The storyline itself is sweet. The illustrations are so bright and colorful. My daughter personally was obsessed with Moonlight and how pretty she is. This was on the easier side of reading for my daughter. We were ok with that.

The moral of the story that being different is special is a really important especially for children. I also like that they go over that you should face your fears/problems head on instead of hiding/ignoring them. It was a pleasure to read this with my daughter! I’m beyond thrilled to see that there will be more of these books!

I really think my only complaint in this entire book is that some of the font is hard to read… I’m not sure if it’s the size of the font or it’s the flowy type of font. My 9 year old daughter and I read the ebook form and we had to get pretty close and zoom it quite a bit to read some of the pages.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

My 7 Year old daughter was so excited when I told her about this book, that she could read and review a book like Mummy. We read this book together and we both loved the story and illustrations. it gripped us from the very beginning and kept us captivated until the very end and left us excited for the next book. I remember reading books like this was I was younger and loving them and the way the sparked my imagination. It's nice being able to read them with my princess.

My daughter really loved all the characters, Moonlight, especially is her favourite. She was very upset that the dragon caught a cold and she wanted to know how he caught a cold and was very worried about it.

She is now asking me all the time when the next book is coming out.

This is a definite must read for mummies and little imaginations alike

Moonlight and Aleena is a cute read. I got this one to read to my 13 year daughter. She's special needs and non verbal but she loves books. The grade range listed on Amazon for this book is Pre K to grade 4. That's kind of a big range and my little one falls in the pre k to kindergarten range so I did a read through first. It's a cute story about acceptance and friendship. I was a little worried that some of the pages had too many words and she might get bored but that wasn't the case. When we sat down to read, my daughter was captured by Moonlight. She touch the page where Moonlight was several times. She definitely liked Moonlight. Half way through the book she did her excited hand shaking and that's when I knew she was hooked on the story. When we finished the story she signed for me to read it again. For the last two night, I have read this to her before bedtime. I can't wait to read the next adventures of Moonlight and Aleena.

My 8 year old daughter, Madison, and I read this charming book together. We really enjoyed both the story and the gorgeous illustrations. The story was sweet and fun, my daughter loves all things unicorn and couldn’t get over how cute Moonlight was. Her favorite part was at the end when Moonlight an Aleena are looking at the stars and discussing their next adventure. This is definitely a book we’ll want in paper, she is SO EXCITED for the next adventure for Moonlight and Aleena in the Snowy Forest.

I read Moonlight And Aleena: A Tale Of Two Friends, with my son (7) , and my nephews (1,& 3).
My son really enjoyed this book. His favorite part was the dragon Zippy. As soon as the book ended he asked for the next one which is very shocking. My son doesn't like reading even if it is being read to him. Him asking for more is a huge compliment 😁.

My nephews aren't really into books but they loved looking at the pictures!

I can't wait to read more of L.P. Dover and her daughter, Anna-Grace Dover! I can see this series being a huge hit for children!

Moonlight and Aleena: A Tale of Two Friends by L.P. Dover & Anna-Grace Dover is Reviewed by myself and my six year old daughter Willow.

I love that i get share and experience my enjoyment in reading, with my children. I thought this story was well written for Willow's age range and older. And loved how beautiful it was illustrated along with a wonderful story.

Unicorns, fairies, and Dragons what more could you ask for from a children's story book? But this wasn't just a small read it really packed a lot into it. With a great storyline and moral base, about different and unlikely characters becoming friends and taking on an adventure.

Willow:- I really like the colourful pictures and the story of finding new friends and going on an adventure. I love unicorns and fairies and now dragons. I liked reading it with my mummy and helping her do what she does when she reads books. She reads a lot of books and now i can as well.

Wonderful magical story and i love the direction that The Next Step PR company is taking with The Next Realm PR. Introducing us to children's stories that we would never have found. And being able to share my reading, blogging and reviewing with my children. Helping to keep them interested in reading.
