If I were reviewing this like a normal book, I'd probably criticize it for presenting a vision and calling it scientific without really justifying it empirically or based on verifiable relationships. But, in that, it's indicative of it's time. Truth is, you don't read this book to learn how cities should be developed. You read this book to see how a set of communist thinkers thought cities should be built. In this context, the numerous flaws in their theories are as instructive as any good points.

I'd strongly recommend this book to anybody who's interested in understanding urbanism in communist countries. There are few books out there to teach you about it, and this gives you the vision and helps explain some of the unlivable and conformist urbanism you see throughout eastern Europe.

Changed how I view the cities and urban planning. Must read book if you're interested in urban planning, especially if you are a leftist. Great criticism against the current Soviet cities and Capitalist cities.
