Wolf didn’t like being bad but when he looked in the mirror he thought he looked bad and then he felt bad which in turn made him act bad, he desperately wanted to change, he wanted to be good but he knew that he was made to look bad and so he thought he should act badly.

He decided to speak to some of the other animals about how they changed. First, he spoke with Chameleon who told him how she could change her colour anytime, not just to camouflage herself.

Wolf feels bad about being bad, and he seeks advice from other animals about their ability to change. Born Bad is a clever little story, and it includes lots of good information about animals.

"Wolf wasn't happy being Wolf. When he looked in the mirror, he looked bad, and when he looked bad, he felt bad, and when he felt bad, he acted bad."

In bright illustrations and through a humorous perspective, CK Smouha and Stephen Smith approach very actual and concerning issues related to identity, personality and the long journey of self-discovery. Wolf doesn't know anymore who he is; trapped between his own desires and the social expectations, he feels lost and confused.

Born Bad is about a wolf who, "when he looked in the mirror, he looked bad, and when he looked bad, he felt bad, and when he felt bad, he acted bad." He wonders if he can change, and he meets animals that can physically change themselves, such as the reed frog who can change sexes. In the end, he puts on a sheep outfit and decides he now feels good.

I guess I get what the point of the book is - learning about both developing a sense of your own identity while also discovering new fact

It was really different, a nice twist on the wolf in sheep clothing. Liked how it also explained some things, it didn’t just brush over it.

Wolf was not happy about himself and wondered if he could change. Several animal friends explained to him how they changed, so he got up the nerve to try what felt right.
Interesting science facts worked in, and great illustrations.

A very pleasant surprise of a book. Misinformation about biology challenged and used in an interesting way

I thought this book was a very cute way to look at identity and how physical appearance can affect how you feel but might not reflect who you are inside. I read the UK edition.

When Wolf looks in the mirror, he thinks he looks bad. And when he thinks looks bad, he feels bad. And when he feels bad … well, bad things happen. And frankly, he’s tired of being bad. But after a chat with other members of the animal kingdom, Wolf soon realizes that maybe he doesn’t have to be bad after all.

Sometimes how a person looks doesn’t reflect who they are inside. Author C.K. Smouha has latched onto this concept and concocted a heartwarming story of both change and personal
