Connor Calloway was forbidden.
Rockstar. Bad boy. Heartbreaker.
My best friend’s ex.

Signing on as the headliner for his band was our chance,
We could make it big if I could just resist temptation.
I could stay away, keep my distance,
It would be easy, I told myself.
Boy, was I wrong. Dead wrong.

So I read about 25-30% of this book and I had to stop when I saw how much I still had to go. There was just too much of it. For how predictable it already was I couldn't read anymore. So I skipped to the last chapter and read that. So it wasn't a big surprise of how Conner and Alice's relationship went but there was a little mystery going on. But I will say this. If I had read the whole book and the ending ended that quickly I would be pissed. I mean it was over in like a page and a half if that.

So for me, it was not a big read. I would pass on this story unless you have KU and it is just a story that you really want to read.

Didn't understand why it was still never told to her about her best friend being a liar. Shouldn't that have been huge deal to the stories theme?

My Best Friend’s Ex
By Amy Brent
Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi

Alice has never had an easy life. Her parents dropped her off at the police station when she was three years old and was never heard from again. She was too old to be adopted as most adopters want cute babies so she lived from one foster home to the next. She’s seen some pretty bad things and she knows what it’s like to go without. When Sam lost his parents and was thrown into the system, Alice (already a pro by then) took him under her wing. The two are like siblings and would do anything for each other. After they were kicked out of the system, when they turned 18, they formed the band Moon and never looked back.

They live in a warehouse and are struggling to make their band a success when the opportunity of a lifetime presents itself. Moon was selected to be in the Nomad tour. The problem? They are co-headlining with Obsidian, the lead singer being Alice’s best friend’s ex-fiance! Alice can do anything for her band … right? Even put up with cocky Connor Evans!

Alice makes it clear to Connor that she is going to make life together these next several months hell! However, the more time she spends with him, the more she starts to understand him and even like him. There is no denying the chemistry between them, but to give in would be a betrayal to Alice’s best friend. Can she resist or will she lose Lori forever?

This book started out a little slow for me, but once it picked up, I didn’t want to put it down! And, of course I LOVE rockstar stories! I absolutely adored Connor! He certainly didn’t live up to his playboy reputation! He was loyal and sweet and did everything in his power to make things comfortable for Alice.

I also really enjoyed Sam and how close he was to Alice. I’m curious about the relationship he obviously was having with Faye. This book reads like its part of a series so I hope it is one, so we can find out what happened!

There was a bit of a mystery in this book with things going wrong on the tour. I felt it was pretty obvious who the guilty party was and why.

My only complaint with this book is it could use a good edit. There were several instances with the wrong words in a sentence … mostly words in the wrong tense. It didn’t deter from my enjoyment of the story though!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and loved the sweet ending as well. It did leave me wanting to see more from these characters and I hope the author indulges me!

Hot rockers

Amy Brent, you are a new to me author but since I absolutely loved this book, I'll be reading more of your work very soon! Rockstar books are one of my favorite types of romance reads & this one had the H & h both as lead singers in their own bands that just happened to be going on tour together...what more could I wish for? I liked both characters right from the start, even though the h, Alice DID NOT have good feelings for the H, Connor, who was the ex- fiance of her best friend. She was sure that Connor broke her friends heart & gave him a hard time everytime they saw each other. Alice was a fiesty, self reliant woman who took no crap from anyone. Connor was a hot, sexy lead singer who was cocky & arrogant, so Alice thought..but was he really? When they found out their bands would be touring together for 6 months, neither thought they would get through it in one piece.

Lots of time spent together gave them each more insite into each others true inner selves. They liked what they saw! They decided to try a fun for the tour type relationship, no strings, no commitments & no one else could know what they were doing. Alice especially didn't want her bestie, Lori, to find out she was spending time with Connor. That might ruin her friendship, so that can't happen.

This story flowed so easily, I read it in no time at all, didn't want to put it down, was reading it in the checkout line at the supermarket!!! All the characters were great, the bands tour was fun to watch & I loved the family-like feelings the band members had for one another. The story had some nice twists to keep you on your mental toes. There was plenty of steamy, sexy times, which spices up the story even more, in my opinion! Connor & Alice were a fun pair to get to know, I really liked them both so much. She was talented, tough & independent but not cold & he was sweet, tender & protective but so very alpha!

I haven't looked yet, but hoping there will be more from Amy Brent about the members of Moon & Obsidian. I would sure like to read more about them all.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and will read the next book in the series.
I did like how there weren’t a bunch of groupies that the H was banging or anything like usual rockstar romances. I’ll be honest that I didn’t love that the H was previously engaged to the h’s best friend. That’s an ick factor for me.
There were quite a few spelling and grammar errors which was quite unfortunate since the story was pretty good. If you can make sense of some of the sentence gibberish happening and misspellings, you should give this book a try.

Completely Captivating. Ms. Amy Brent has a hit on her hands with this deliciously crafted romance. My Best Friend's Ex is truly everything you could want in a book. At the tender age of just 3 years old, Alice found herself unwanted and in the foster system. There she learned how to close herself off and count on noone but herself.
This is also where she met her best friend, Sam. He is one of a very small amount of people Alice chooses to be close to. As the years go by, Alice and Sam form a band as well as a Family by choice, not blood. Success eventually finds them the only catch to this life-altering offer is that they have to tour with another band that Alice is very familiar with as her other best friend, Lori, was engaged to the lead singer, Connor. What Alice doesn't know is that their breakup was not Connor's doing but Lori's. As the tour heats up so do her feelings for Connor. Something has got to give. Will it be her? Unbeknownst to her, Connor, is nothing like she thought and she can't resist. Wonderfully written book with compelling characters. Follow Alice and the effortlessly sexy Connor on their hard won journey to their happily ever after. Especially when someone wants them apart and kept all for himself.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of My Best Friend's Ex in exchange for my honest opinion and I found myself addicted to this riveting book. I personally love Ms. Brent's work and I know you will too.

Conner is a Rockstar but Alice knew him before when he dated her best friend and broke her heart. Alice is in a band called Moon and they just started headlining a tour with Conner's band. Sparks fly when they see each other again but Alice isn't there to make friends especially with a playboy like him. Conner is drawn to Alice but he knows his past with her friend is an issue with them. One night when Conner saves Alice from a drunk in a club he lets her know that he wants her but it'll be when she's sober and can remember everything he's doing to her. When they do get together she feels guilt about sleeping with her friend's ex but once her feelings are involved she can't seem to let Conner go. However there's a threat that neither of them expected will it be the end of their relationship? Can they make things work with their history?

This was an amazing story once I started I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Conner and Alice just about melted my kindle. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.

As always Amy Brent delivers a captivating and enjoyable story that I could not stop reading until the end. It has a great storyline and plot. About two characters that have an attraction for each other but he is her best friends ex. Is that sort of betrayal if she acts on their attraction? Their chemistry is over the top and they are so well described that you almost feel you know them. They are likeable and develops nicely through the story.
This story is of a great length. I just wanted to read on and know more. A true love story full of family, friendship and struggles. I love how this story unfolded in a unique way. The writing style and use of words made it unique. All fits together and the couple have to struggle a lot to get their HEA but it is worth to follow their journey to get there.
I have only positive things to write about this book, so I can only recommend it to others. Read it and get captivated from start to finish.

Alice was abandoned as a baby  and grew up in foster care with her best friend.  As she grew up she discovered that she was a talented singer and composer. With her friend Sam and two others they form a  band and they get their big chance to lead in the indie band, Obsidian, But the lead singer of it, Connor and he broke her best friends, Lori's, heart when he broke up with her. SO Alice must try to avoid him at all costs but he seems to want to be with her. His smouldering glances with his sultry deep blue eyes mesmerise her. Can she be true to her friend and have who she wants?  This is a wonderful tale by Amy Brent that you won't want to put down.  This kept me entertained from first to last page and I will certainly want to re-read it in the future as it's so good and well written.  Grab a copy for yourself and enjoy!  I received reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Definitely recommended - a passionate romance!

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Connor and Alice. Alice has a band that consists mainly of people she considers family. She has just been handed an opportunity she just can't pass up. However she wonders will the one other person that isn't in their band that she considers family be as happy for them? Working with her best friend's ex isn't exactly the first thought she had when she thinks of her big break but there it is. She wonders though can she really have it all or will she loose something more precious than her big shot with her guys?

This is an amazing story. It has it's ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I son't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This is an amazing story with a wonderful message about looking beyond the surface to see who someone really is and the power of not letting your circumstances define you. Alice and Conner have both built a wall around themselves because of circumstances in their lives, but as they soon discover sometimes there is so much more to a person then what they let you see. I also liked that Ms. Brent throws a little intrigue into the storyline, which makes you want to keep reading just to see how it all turns out. The only thing I would change about the story is that I would have liked to seen more into the lives of the supporting characters, but hopefully if there are more books in the series we will be able to delve into those lives very soon. Nonetheless, this is a great book that you are not going to want to miss; the chemistry, message, and intrigue of this storyline will keep you engaged and reading until the very end. Enjoy!

My best Friends Ex
Alice lead singer in band Moon can't believe that they are going to get their big break. With other band members guitarist Sam (like a big brother to her as they were in foster care together) bass drummer Casey and new Bass player Tyler and manager Faye they make their way to the Nomad tour where they'll be joint headliners.
Obsidian frontman Connor, drummer Jay and Bassist Matt are the other group headlining the Nomad tour. Connor knows Alice as he was due to marry her best friend Lori and Alice hates him! Can they work out their differences for the sake of the tour?
They both know the others out of bounds but feelings and the attraction are just too strong!
The chemistry between these two is hot hot hot, with other twists and drama thrown in you get another Amy Brent 5 star book! Highly recommend

I enjoyed reading this book more than what I thought would. Connor and Alice were great together. Alice can't stand Connor in the beginning because of what she thought he did to her best friend. They don't put up much of fight when it came to their attraction to each other. Once they do give in, funky things start to happen around the stage either before or during practice and concerts. After an incident puts Alice into the hospital, they find out that she is pregnant. Connor walks away because he doesn't know how to handle it. When he realizes he can't be without her, he goes back. When he does, everyone discovers who has been sabotaging everything. I have to admit that i was not expecting this person to be the one doing everything. The book ended too soon but I did like ending even though I wouldn't mind seeing more of Alice and Connor again

Good read

Conner is a Rockstar with a playboy rep. Alice is an up and coming rocker whose name is touring with him... She's also his ex's best friend and someone he really wants to sleep with. After trying to run from the attraction, they come to a deal.... No strings sex for the length of the tour. But what starts as just physical blooms into much more and they are going to have to face some consequences and obstacles to be together. Like a missed of best friend\ex, a mystery persistently to sabotage the shows, and a surprise baby. But if they can work together and trust each other, then maybe they can get a happily ever after.

Hot Rockers, steamy sex, sweet moments.... This book was a good read that I recommend.

Another captivating story by Amy Brent!!! My Best Friends Ex is well written and the characters rock! Once you start reading this amazing book you wont be able to put it down.
Alice is the lead singer of the band Moon, their huge break has come as they will be touring across the counrty with Obsidian. The only problem is that the frontman for the group is Conner her best friends ex fiancee and she hates him. How are they going to manage to tour together for six months???!!!
Once Conner has had a taste of beautiful Alice he is determined to make her his and will do anything to put a smile on her face and make her happy and no one will stand in his way.

Conner and Alice Rock it...

Another awesome read by Amy Brent. Loved Conner and Alice. Both rocking musicians with baggage. The chemistry is sizzling hot you could feel the burn on each scorching page. Combines well with the emotional feels that come through. Experience the highs and lows of a Rock Stars life and how their past can creep out of the woodwork, how potential relationships dissected can be destroyed by the media, how music can tame the beast and express emotions that just simple words fail to do. and obsessive fans are the norm.
Loved Alice. Her strength, sense of family, her loyalty and the depth of her love despite her inner turmoil; the guilt that eats away at her. Conner is ideally suited to her and proves it by being there where he is most needed.

Oh wow, this more than just a rock star romance, it’s about family, emotions, loyalty and love. After a rough childhood in foster care, Alice and Sam with Casey form a band called Moon. Doing well, they have to go on tour with a band called Obsidian. Only problem is, lead singer is Connor Calloway, Alice’s best friend Lori’s ex......oh dear. Alice and Connor are like magnets, drawn together by an invisible thread. Lots of passion, secrets, danger and so much more. Lots of strong characters as well as Sam and band Agent Faye Donnelly.
Can’t wait to read about them

My Best friend’s ex is the story of Connor and Alice. Both lead singers of up and coming bands. Alice is best friends with Lori, Connor’s ex. Like most couples who split up, everyone around them picks sides. Alice picked Lori. Years later, Alice and Connor are selected to co-headline a big tour. Needless to say, stuff happens.
This book is emotional, musical, lots of angst and some twists (though it was pretty obvious). It’s sexy and sweet and ultimately quite fulfilling!
I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.

Connor and Alice, lead singers for 2 separate bands, are thrown together on tour when their bands are signed to co-headline. The attraction is almost instantaneous and intense. Can Alice get past the part that Connor is her best friend's (Lori) ex-fiance? Was Lori and Connor's breakup as it seemed?

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I love a good rockstar romance, and this 1 had all the feels; the story line was engaging. The only negative for me was the typos and inappropriate word usage at times, but this still wasn't enough to detract from the plot.

Nope

It didn't work. The idea was good and the words flowed nicely but plot holes, missing characters, inconsistencies made it feel like I was reading pieces of stories strung together. Example: Band with no record contract is headlining and has a manager that can afford to fly ahead of every show. band with multi albums has no manager and barely an agent. Or best friend comes to drag h to party but doesn't actually attend party with her. And don't even get me started on the world's dumbest title

Oh, if only...

....romance writers could believe, romance is enough. We don't need 'angst' up to our ears. Or, as this 'romance' turned out to be, just another full-blown Scooby Doo Mystery. 'Romance' really is enough.
This would have been a fabulous romance, had the writer literally ripped the entire middle out of the thing. Great beginning, great hea. But the Scooby Dooby Doo part, not only dragged down the whole story, it killed all the romance. I finally just skipped through about 2/3 of the stupidity in the middle, read the end, and called it done.

This is by far my favorite book by Amy. Alice and Connor can’t stand each other since Connor broke Alice’s best friend’s heart. But now they are both going on tour together and are stuck together for 6 months. But spending time together they can’t deny their attraction any longer. Sparks fly for Alice & Connor but someone doesn’t want them together. This book has it all, lust, betrayal, lies and love. Everyone will be rooting for Alice & Connor

I felt that the characters of Alice and Connor were so well developed…I can’t help but to root for them. I thought they were written beautifully. The supporting characters where a great addition to the storyline. It was filled with humor, heartbreak and love. You will most definitely want to read this book. Breath Taking

Alice and Conner's story just sweeps you up . You have the love the hate and the complex characters with a little Intrigue. Alice and Conner are rock and roll singers in different groups. They have a love hate relationship due to there past. The chemistry they feel is more than they can fight, but there are people that don't want them together. You need to read there story and see how it ends.

Stellar Read

Alice has had a hard life: an orphan who got shuttled around in foster care, she’s made a family with her band mates Sam, Casey, and Trevor, and her bestie Lori. Now, on the brink of true success, her band is the opening act for Obsidian. Great! But not really. Not when that band’s frontman, Conner, is her best friend’s ex—and he makes her feel things she doesn’t want to.

This story was promising in the beginning. Two people at odds, both musicians trying for that big break, and being stuck together on tour. But midway through, the story seemed to stall for me or get bogged down and I found my self flipping ahead here and there and then finally to the end. It was ok, but it just didn't seem to hold my interest (I hate to give any effort 2 stars but that is what Goodreads considers "ok")

An okay read

I liked it but I didn’t love it. This one has some steaminess that, to me, were the usual sexy scenes. I mean I know we don’t read just for the sex scenes we want a story line behind them but this particular book didn’t do that for me. It could be different for any other person but I’ve read other books by this author that I loved. All in all the story line was ok.m
