She's as headstrong as any filly he's ever broken, but soon she'll call him daddy.
Sam Cooper needs a capable hand for his working farm and trail trekking business, not a spoiled city girl who doesn't know a horse from a hamster. Instead, he finds himself saddled with a mouthy, disobedient little spitfire in desperate need of his firm hand applied to her bare bottom.
When she fled Christchurch in the aftermath of a deadly earthquake, Marnie Sawyer figured anywhere would be better than the broken city, until she ended up under the roof--and over the knee--of a man every bit as rugged as the alpine wilderness in which he makes his home.
Marnie isn't sure what is more shocking, Sam's willingness to scold and spank her like a little girl, or the way her body responds when he takes her in his arms and makes her his own. But leaving isn't an option, and though it makes her blush to admit it, she needs a daddy who isn't afraid to use his whip to break her in and teach her what it means to belong to him completely.
Publisher's Note:Daddy's Whip includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Amazon Top 100, USA Today bestselling, and #1 bestselling author in multiple Amazon categories, Loki Renard writes sizzling hot, occasionally dark and twisted stories of dominance, submission and discipline.
I loved the story and the chemistry of the two main characters, Sam Cooper and Marnie Sawyer. There is so much angst in the beginning, but there is also a smoldering passion that they try to deny, but that is not to happen. The story begins on a sad note of the devastating earthquakes that hit Christchurch area of New Zealand. Marnie is just one of many who will escape their home but lose everything. When she leaves after a couple of weeks to go to Terako Treks to stay, she missed that part about being hired helped and it is a working farm that offers horse treks.
From the moment Sam and Marnie meet, they clash, and there are so much angst and attitude between them. Sam doesn’t have time for this and Marnie apparently wasn’t paying attention to her aunt about what she would be doing when she arrived.
“Sam liked to be in charge; that much was obvious. It had been apparent from the moment she met him, and it had come roaring out when he took her.”
At times the relationship between Sam and Marnie is like a train wreck you can’t help but watch. She is mouthy with attitude, and he is dominant and expects obedience. When he tells her that she needs discipline, she is shocked, but aroused. When they do get together, then he feels like he must distance himself from her, after all, she is a hired hand. It leaves her feeling used and confused.
The story covers much of what it is like with responsibilities on the ranch, some of the beautiful scenery when he takes her out on some of the various treks, and her learning how to work with horses. I enjoyed the different personality traits of various horses too. But the real story is the master of this business, Sam, and how he deals with Marnie. He refers to her as ‘little girl,’ which at first she takes offense to, but eventually, she loves the endearment.
“Sam’s grin lit up his entire face, making her all melty inside. She’d been attracted to him right from the state, but he was definitely far sexier smiling than scolding. He didn’t answer her question, but by the look on his face, it was clear he was pleased.”
When Marnie accidentally comes across some critical paperwork, he will be upset with her and accuse her of snooping, but when she does something to help him out, he is downright angry with her. Marnie has already been displaced and can’t handle that again, just when it has started feeling like home, and she has a purpose working with Sam and the horses.
The story will change in dynamics with the relationship that will include age-play talk of a DD/lg, and their sexual relationship will expand. There are plenty of discipline scenes throughout the story, and some are creative and unique. Best of all, the dynamics of this couple changes gradually from employer to lovers to a relationship. While there is plenty of discipline, it is a story of love and finding that someone special.
“You don’t understand what being mine is really like, little girl. I can be a very mean daddy.”
Now, read the story and find out what Sam can do with a whip, a rope, and a naughty girl.
Loki Renard and Kelly Dawson are a pair of New Zealand authors who have teamed up to write a story about love, hope, a new life, and what it takes to get there.
After a devastating earthquake in Christchurch, Marnie's home is destroyed. Her grandmother is dead. Her stability is no longer all that stable. Marnie decides that she needs to leave Christchurch so that she can get a new start on her new life. So, she packs up everything she still owns in a duffel bag, gets on the bus, and goes where her aunt told her to.
Sam runs a trek company in the country. His aunt has hired in someone from the city. When he goes to pick her up from the bus stop, he discovers Marnie, who's wearing the wrong shoes, the wrong clothes, and the wrong attitude. She doesn't like how dirty and dusty everything is, she doesn't like where she is, and she's quite ready to go back. Her attitude earns her her first spanking rather quickly.
I went back and forth as to whether or not I liked Sam. I thought that there were times that he came on much stronger than necessary. I think that if he had listened to Marnie a little more sometimes so that the could find out more about why she was acting the way that she was, it might've gone easier for all involved. I mean, she was really kinda traumatized. But then he'd do something that was really sweet or really nice and I'd like him again. Marnie did jump on my last nerve from time to time, she was a bit of a brat sometimes, but I could totally get why.
Overall, I liked the book and the times when I didn't always like the characters balanced out with the times that I did.
This book is not as advertised. The hero is a guy with a trail riding business who attempts to take on a spoiled woman from the city as his helper. She knows nothing about horses and she spends a lot of time trying to seduce the hero. He's into BDSM somewhat, and it's a good thing because the young woman needs her a$$ whipped at every turn.
It takes years to be able to work effectively with horses, plus an inborn way with animals that cannot be learned. Not gonna happen in a few weeks or months, especially if the trainee is a spoiled brat.
This is a disciplinary romance and as such I expected Marnie to be a bit of a brat - She is not a brat -she is an all-out whiny little chit that I would have left on the side of the road! This started out strong - Our heroine seemed to have a brain and a backbone in the beginning and then it was like when the sinkholes appeared not only did it take part of her community but her personality as well! Sam - came close to capturing my heart a couple times but too many times I felt as though he just did not follow through, was not consistent as he should have been I tried - for me, this just wasn't a hit The writing is solid (I am a big Loki fan ), the storyline is there and flows well - the characters just did not click for me
This book is on fire! The main character is Marnie who has recently suffered a number of major tragedies thanks to a natural disaster that struck her town. It's basically a really hot retelling of the country mouse and the city mouse. She's a city girl who is used to certain things... and when she finds herself on a horse ranch, as a hand, she's not pleased. Not one bit.
I'm not sure why she thought she was going there as a guest rather than an employee because we don't really get into that much, but it's implied that perhaps she was told and didn't listen. That implication comes back she has a habit of not listening to her new boss, the whip-wielding Sam Cooper. Of course, that's mostly because every time she looks at him she's so turned on she can barely think so I'm not sure she previously had that problem. Who knows, and it doesn't matter.
The important thing is that she's a bratty spoiled city girl, who is still reeling from trauma, and the last thing she wants to do is shovel manure in a barn. She makes that clear with her smart mouth, attitude, and her temper tantrums--which are frequent.
Same likes her spunk, and thinks she's cute. He also has some sympathy for what she's gone through but there's no way in hell he's putting up with that kind of behavior. She earns her first spanking within hours of meeting him and there are plenty more where that comes from.
There is a fairly low-key ageplay theme to the book, really just in that she calls him Daddy and he calls her little girl. Other than the Daddy/lg dynamic there really isn't a focus on ageplay, which I appreciated. There is anal play, spanking, a little tiny bit of bondage, and he uses a number of implements on her besides his hand: Belt, crop, and finally his whip as he tames his new filly.
Some plot spoilers below (I'm assuming the name and the description made it clear that all of the above was going to be happening.)
During the course of falling in love with him and his dominance Marnie finds out a terrible secret--the ranch is in bad financial shape and is in danger of foreclosure. Sam had recently inherited it and was doing his best but there just wasn't enough customers. A previously unmentioned (or unnoticed by me) inheritance she was expecting comes in and she tries to help by using most of it to catch them up on debt, even though he told her to stay out of it.
There is a lot of back and forth as he tells her it's no good and they will lose it, but she's willing to do almost anything to keep this new home. The two butt heads often over the issue before the arrive at their HEA with a solution they can both live with. At times I wanted to kick him in the shins for being mean, and just as often I wanted to spank her myself for being a brat. I was fully engaged until the end. If you like hot spanking, graphic sex, and a sweet HEA this book is for you.
i read this book as part of an arc program. I really enjoyed this romance between Marnie and Sam. Marnie lost everything in an earthquake and when her aunt mentioned going to away to a farm in another part of New Zealand, she decides to go. When Marnie arrives, it is clear she is over her head. When Sam picks her up at the bus stop, she refuses to get into his dirty truck and Sam threatens to leave her there. Sam thinks she is a spoiled brat that doesn't know anything about the farm. Marnie doesn't realize she has been hired to work for Sam and when she finds out, she is really angry. Sam threatens to spank her for mouthing off to him and being difficult. Marnie knows she has nowhere else to go, and when Sam takes her for a ride in the country, they act on their attraction, only for Marnie to get angry at herself and tell Sam to stay away from her. Sam wants Marnie, but he also knows she is a brat and needs discipline. The monger Marnie spends with Sam, the more she wants to please him and be with him. Sam knows Marnie isn't ready to submit to him, but he still tries to teach her the rules. I really enjoyed this story. I love how Sam was so dominating and knew what Marnie needed before she did. Sam really loved Marnie and wanted her to understand his spankings were for her own good. I think Marnie really needed Sam to control her and she knew he would never hurt her, but would protect her. Good one.
I received an Advance Reader Copy for DADDY’S WHIP written by Loki Renard & Kelly Dawson and voluntarily reviewed this book. After experiencing the horrors of natural disaster firsthand, Marnie flees the remains of the only home she knew to the opposite end of the spectrum to what she was used to. Now, green and isolated pastures filled with animals are what she has volunteered to help with, thanks to family connections. It seems she should have definitely paid attention to the job description, because being a hand on a horse farm and leading clients on trails are nothing this girl has ever experienced. Neither has she ever come across such a dominant & hot male who is determined to not let her get away with anything he deems disrespectful or inappropriate.
It takes infinitely more patience than Sam has to spare, but this new girl is the only chance he has for help with the horses and with his family’s business. It doesn’t help that he feels an instant and strong attraction for this girl, however inconvenient. So it is up to him to mold her into what he needs, a job which really is not that difficult because she is just as drawn to him, even though she is not used to anything she encounters on Sam’s farm or what he ultimately dishes out to her.
Well, it isn't all about the whip. Marnie has been displaced from her home in the city after a devestating earthquake left so many with nothing but their lives. She is sent by an aunt to the country ranch and Terako Treks to live and work on the horse ranch that Sam runs and his aunt Magda started up many years ago. Everything is new for Marnie and she does arrive with an attitude and nasty mouth, Sam is Marnie's boss and she just isn't in the frame of mind to listen to instructions and orders.Sam has to get Marnie trained and adjusted to ranch life as soon as he can because his trekking customers will be starting to come sooner than he can get Marnie to listen and learn. A few good sessions over his knee, he hopes will get her attention so she will start making her adjustments and learning the ropes. I enjoyed reading about the New Zealand lands and the trekking business and horses. Marnie really starts her new life as a raving brat, but I understand her confusion and how hard it was for her to accept that this was her new life. There was enough sizzle between Sam and Marnie to burn up the sheets, if they ever got to use anything close to sheets. lol But I did enjoy their story and that of life on the ranch.
A major, severe earthquake hits Marnie's hometown destroying her home, possessions, and community, panicking her. The quake is followed with multiple severe after quakes. She flees and goes to her aunt's home on a horse farm where she is to work for Sam, a doggedly handsome cowboy who is very domineering with high expectations. Marine is immediately drawn to Sam's physique and handsomeness, but is scared of the big horses, feels her jobs of mucking out horse stalls, brushing the horses, and learning to ride are frightening and dirty. She has grown up as a city girl and sees belong a country girl as quite a change. Sam is very demanding, does not put up with Marnie's sassy mouth, and corrects Marnie with severe spankings, once with his bull whip. Sam is drawn to Marnie's beauty and rebelliousness. Gradually Marnie falls in love with the horses and the beauty of the farms location besides the mountains. Several of the spankings are sexually arousing and lead to petting and intercourse. Marine finds her orgasms intense and wants more and more of Sam. When she learns the bank may foreclose on the farm's mortgage, Marnie goes to work behind his back to save the farm. The story is great and the two of them recognize their love for each other.
Marnie is a brat. Her move from the city to the country is foreign to her. She has no idea why she was sent here. Sam knows she is going to be a handful. She is bratty and needs a spanking. She has no manners and keeps pushing him. He can’t wait to warm up her bottom.
Man, was Marnie a pain in the butt. I have read books where discipline spanking happens and it doesn’t re-happen for a while but boy she just kept pushing Sam’s buttons. Im surprised she could sit. She was being a big brat and that was a LOT of taming to do. She just wanted everything her way. Sam was trying to be fair and teach her that he would set the pace but nope, she wanted it her way. And it got her a red hot butt. I thought that his dominance was just that but when he used that whip, WOW. I can only imagine how that would feel.
A book by a new writing duo and just like the authors this story takes place in New Zealand.
Marnie has lost everything after the earthquake in Christchurch Her aunt offers her a place to stay and job at a ranch. A city girl in the country, what will happen?
Marnie was a uber brat in the first few chapters. I have to say I didn’t really like her for that portion of the book, but she redeemed herself in the end.
Sam was stern and under a lot a stress, but also caring. The whip scene was so hot, I could just picture it in my mind.
I loved the fact that this story took place in New Zealand and get a glimpse of this country.
I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advance review copy
If you like arousing westerns with a “daddy” figure who likes to spank… Well if you do, get this book! Marnie left Christchurch after she lost her home and grandma to an earthquake. Having no place to go her aunt finds her a ranch that needs help in the wilds of New Zealand. Since Marnie has a tendency to not listen, she was totally unaware that she was expected to work! Sam needs help on his ranch and when he takes one look (and listen) to the brat from the city, he knows this will never work. Fireworks ignite and never sizzle throughout this book. Will Sam ever train Marnie like he trains his horses? Will they become friends? They might already have the benefits part down… I was offered an ARC to review. Every chapter is as hot as the weather in summer!
This is the story of Sam Cooper and Marnie Sawyer. Marnie goes to Sam's country ranch looking for a new life for herself away from the city of Christchurch which was irreparably damaged by Earthquakes. Sam is looking for a helper to keep his ranch and trail trekking business running but with a lack of visitors it is failing due to a lack of money. Marnie is a little brat but Sam attempts to whip her into shape while falling in love with her in the process. Marnie is shocked and surprised when she is treat as a little girl but admits to herself that she really does need a daddy.
This book has a good storyline and you can't help but fall in love with both of the characters, a strong daddy dom and a little sassy girl.
I definitely recommend putting it on your to read list.
I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. I enjoyed this book. Marnie comes to the ranch after having been in an earthquake area. Her aunt tells her about the ranch. Marnie is so emotionally distraught, she did not hear that she is going to the ranch to work. Sam, who owns the ranch, comes to pick Marnie up. The relationship is contentious right from the start; when Marnie complains about Sam being late. Marnie's mouth gets her into so much trouble, and Sam, well he is a disciplinarian. Marnie's butt takes quite a bit of discipline due to Marnie's mouth. LOL Find out what happens to these two. Will something else form between these two?
Love love LOVE a stern daddy and an endearing brat! Marnie is a city girl who is escaping to the ranch after losing everything in an earthquake, and Sam is a stern guy with a struggling horse farm who takes her on.
They are both delightful characters, and if you like a stern but VERY sexy daddy, this book is for you.
Some very hot scenes, and two lovable characters who find love and happiness! I love that Marnie is so determined and stubborn, but with a heart of gold- and Sam enjoys getting to TRY and tame her (but let’s be real, he loves that she’s a little spitfire).
Two people. One who needs a firm, loving hand and another who needs a submissive, equal love.
Marnie's life has fallen apart. Literally. When she meets, and starts working for, Sam. Sam runs a trek company. The business needs help, and maybe Marnie is just the one to save it... and Sam may be exactly what she needs. Together, can they save the company and find love?
If you are a fan of finding true love with some hotness, Daddy's Whip is the book for you!
Having lived in the south and gone through many hurricanes, I could relate to this story in a broad sense. The feelings of loss, devastation, needing to relocate and start over, and then a sense of anticipation, fear, and home sickness. Those are all powerful emotions, emotions Loki Renard and Kelly Dawson have expressed and brought into this story. The interactions between Sam and Marnie is sometimes funny, quirky, frustrating or sweet but it's ALWAYS HOT. It was a great story that flowed and was certainly relatable to me.
Both of the main characters were very annoying. Marnie was too bratty and not in the cute way and she doesn't get much better throughout the book. Sam wasn't much better. He was kind of a bully sometimes, but not in the good way. It was more like he just wasn't taking her feelings into consideration.
This book could not decide whether it wanted to be DD or BDSM. Sometimes an author is able to blend the two but it just wasn't working for me here at all.
There were a couple good scenes though, hence the two stars.
The story starts with Marina who is displaced, due to an earthquake, to another part of the country. Here she meets Sam who is trying to financially save his family business/farm and their first encounter ends in a sexual encounter. It also seems Sam has a thing about punishing her when she misbehaves and enjoys being called Daddy. It is a good read, there is a HEA, and I would recommend it if you like books that contain spankings and explosive sex.
Oh my lord I loved loved this story, it was fun and serious all at the same time and the characters and writing were outstanding. I loved Marnie and her sassy mouth and she had me laughing out loud at the provoking of Sam which was one sexy serious Daddy and knew how to deliver punishment to its finest to keep her and her mouth inline This was intense, sexy and the angst off the charts and the battles between the two you wont get enough. I LOVED IT!!!!!.
Marnie's life changed when an earthquake destroyed her home. When the aftershocks stop Marnie is still shaken. When she goes to a ranch to stay not only is she completely out of her element, she finds out that she is the hired help. Sam is Marnie's new boss and they clash from the moment they meet. The one thing they can't deny is their sizzling hot chemistry, but as Marnie's defiant attitude continues to escalate Sam decides to take things in hand.
A very good well written story that I highly recommend. I enjoyed reading this book. It's well written and described. An enjoyable read. All the characters are well done. I hope that there will be more like this from this talented author. Marnie calls Sam 'Daddy'but it's not age-play. There are plenty of hot spicy sexy scenes and disciplinary spankings as Sam tries to tame Marnie. A very good page-turner. I highly recommend it.
Marnie and Sam are my new favourite Kiwis. Marnie needs a firm hand to get past the loss of her home and old life in a devastating earthquake. Sam is the whip-cracking cowboy who takes her on and gives her a place and purpose. It's lovely to see them come together and work to save the ranch they love. An adorable, naughty, heart-warming story that I'll re-read whenever life needs whipping into shape!
I was so surprised to see how emotionally involved I became with this story. Marnie and Sam are two very different people! The way he deals with situations might be a bit unorthodox but it truly is what she needs to cope with the way her life is changing. I would caution anyone who doesn't deal well with physical punishment to not read this book but if you're ok with it, it will bring you on a journey you'll not forget.
Horses, sexy dominate man, beautiful setting, hot sex and severe punishment. Need I say more? But through in a city girl who go's through a horrible earth quake and lose her home, with only one family member left who is unable to offer her a home but finds her a position on the working farm, which is so outside her comfort zone and it's funny. Now you have the makings of a very compelling story.
This was too cute. Intense but entertaining. Marnie was a spoiled brat from the city and looking to relocate after an earthquake hit her home. So she flees to the country to work for her aunts friend who owns a horse ranch. Sam thinks she is the most selfish and indulgent young woman ever. She is rude and disrespectful and in need of a firm hand. Which is exactly what he gives to her. Too cute, he goes to town on his little Marnie.
I loved this story! The characters were so compatible and connected so well. Daddy gave his little girl everything she needed and more. Also as a horse person I really appreciated how true the horse descriptions were. It was written by someone who knew horses and it made the story that much more relatable and honest!
Marnies life is turned upside down due to a freak Mother Nature incident, which is how she ends up on Sam’s ranch. If you like city brats meeting Hot Alpha male cowboys, this is the story for you. It had just the right amount of spice to story. I would definitely recommend.
This was a great read. I did struggle a bit with the dialogue being different than I'm used to (knickers still gets me). It did bug me that Marina never returned Sam's I love you!
