Book Two: Amelia, the Venutons and the Golden Cage
Book Three: Amelia, the Merballs and the Emerald Cannon
Evonne Blanchard was born and raised in England. She met her husband, an American whilst they were both volunteering at a children's orphanage in Guatemala. The writer lives north of Boston, Massachusetts with her husband and their two daughters, Lydia and Gwendolyn. Other additions to the household include a crazy puppy called Bailey, a lovely cat called Arthur, and lots of fish!
The author has been fascinated by space ever since she was a little girl; mesmerized by clips of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon. As a teenager, War of the Worlds, by H.G Wells became one of her favorite books and Mars Attacks is her favorite movie!
When it came to creating her own aliens, the author decided on the warm and fuzzy type, rather than the war-like Martians. Uglesnoo, her main alien character is from Pluto. He's very friendly and nice but a little crazy too! So began Amelia's Amazing Space Adventures, starring Amelia and her alien friend Uglesnoo.
Uglesnoo’s sister is very sick. The only cure is a repelling crystal from Neptune. To obtain the crystal Amelia and Uglesnoo must travel to the Moon, Sun and all the planets in the solar system.
The author is currently working on the fourth book in the series, Amelia, the Snapperjacks and the Molten Maze. This book is set on the Sun. How will Amelia and Uglesnoo manage to land on the boiling hot Sun, trade with the aliens, find the jars of Snapperjack honey and continue their quest to save Uglesnoo's sister? Find out in Amelia's next amazing space adventure!

I previously read and reviewed Amelia, the Venutons and the Golden Cage, book two in the series, and really enjoyed it. So, when I had the opportunity to read book three, Amelia, the Merballs and the Emerald Cannon, of course I couldn’t say no.
With the second book, I was amazed by how creative the author was, and I have to say, this third book is even more original, fun and creative!
In this book, Amelia and Uglesnoo land on Mercury where they meet the Merballs. All seems to go pretty well, until an asteroid hits Mercury, and the Merballs areconvinced Amelia and Uglesnoo are somehow involved. With aliens, different planets, a good dose of humor and excellent storytelling that is age-appropriate, this is one of the best kids series out there. The illustrations are pretty fun too and fit the story well.
We just finished reading this book and so far it's our favorite in the series. We loved the other two books, but this book is so original and so creative. To be honest, it's got to be one of the best kid series out there. It makes space so fun and exciting and the main characters of Amelia and her alien friend Uglesnoo are so warm and engaging.
In this book the pair travel to Mercury. They need flying shoes, as part of their quest to save Uglesnoo's sister. All goes well at first. The Merballs - the aliens that live there- are welcoming. But then an asteroid hits and once again Amelia and Uglesnoo are in trouble ... This book was so exciting and my kids literally couldn't put it down. We're really looking forward to the next space adventure. Hopefully it'll come out soon!
I love this series and this book. The plot is solid and the characters are very interesting. The storyline is funny and keeps you entertained. The overall idea for this series is brilliant and I absolutely love it. I would recommend this book for children ages 4-12. You should definetly give this book as well as the rest of the series a try.
Amelia and her friends are in trouble--again. Wrongfully accused, they must proved that they are not the culprits; and they must also manage to escape from the planet Mercury. I enjoyed this book and truly enjoyed reading it with my grandchildren who are young readers. I received this book as part of the Goodreads Giveaway program.

Amelia's adventure has gained even more momentum in this 3rd book of the series. Intertwined in the midst of this wonderfully creative and funny story are interesting facts about our solar system. This book is unique and very entertaining. I highly recommend it to your kids.

Another highly creative and thrilling adventure follows. We all loved it and can't wait for the next book in the series. This is really a tremendous kids series!
Amelia, the Merballs and the Emerald Cannon is full of imagination and heart. I liked how it combined adventure with lessons about trust and understanding. The Merballs’ reactions to the asteroid disaster felt realistic, and this adds depth to the story. Amelia and Uglesnoo’s determination to save the day made me root for them the whole time. The flying shoes were a clever and unexpected element. The story felt fresh and creative, and I think kids will enjoy the mix of suspense and humor. A great space adventure!
I loved how creative this book was! Amelia's adventure on Mercury felt exciting and full of surprises. The Merballs were such a fun addition to the story, and their world was described so vividly. I enjoyed seeing how Amelia and Uglesnoo worked together to solve problems and prove their innocence. The story kept me guessing, and the flying shoes were such a unique twist. This book is perfect for young readers who love space adventures with a touch of humor. It was hard to put down!
Amelia’s journey to Mercury introduced such a fun and colorful world. The Merballs were quirky and entertaining, but I also liked how the story touched on serious moments, like the asteroid’s impact. Amelia and Uglesnoo’s friendship stood out, especially in how they supported each other. The challenges they faced made the story exciting, and the Emerald Cannon quest added mystery. Moreover, the pacing was great, and the ending left me wanting more. It’s a wonderful book for young readers who enjoy adventure and creativity.
I thoroughly enjoy reading these type of children books, for they always teach my children an important life lesson in a simple and easy way that they can understand. It's important for children today to have morals, and the only way that they will obtain them is if they are taught from a young age.
Great childrens book. Wonderful adventures, and new friendships everywhere. Nice change for the adults who read to their kids. I will be looking for other installments. Giveaway win.
