When Canadian Born Author Sheri-Lynn Marean wasn't riding horses or drawing, she had her head in a book. In 2008, she finally challenged herself to write her own stories. Inspired by the Authors, Shows & Characters she loved, Sheri-Lynn decided upon immortals who change into dragons. Tierney, Jax and Sami came to life and the Dracones were born. She currently has nineteen published stories. Most of her work is steamy paranormal/fantasy romance that contain evil villains, mystery, and twists.
“Without a mate, all dragonkind males started to lose their souls. Then their humanity went, leaving them angry, fire-breathing, killing machines. Cass’s heart squeezed in his chest. Maya had hurt him more than he could have ever imagined when she severed their bond so that he wouldn’t follow her. Even worse was the feeling that he hadn’t been enough for her. That no matter his love, she obviously hadn’t felt the same.”
Casstiel is a dragon shifter romance by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This paranormal/fantasy took me on a journey full of love, loss, heartache, emotion, magic, revenge, pain, grief, redemption, action, adventure, and drama. The story is told from several perspectives, which gave an in-depth ‘look’ at what had/was happening. I like that the author provides a glossary at the beginning of the book, to help with all the names- it was handy and informative. There were a lot of characters and realms to get my head around, so the glossary really helped. Casstiel lost his beloved mate 10 years earlier and he’s been wracked by grief and anger ever since. When she died, killed by their enemy, she severed their bond, so Casstiel couldn’t follow her. He was SUPPOSED to be with her now and he can’t understand why she did what she did. It torments him every day! He isn’t truly living, stuck in the past and unable to move forward. His anger and hatred consume him and his family and friends worry about his state of mind. Something or someone is tether him to the world, and he wants to find them so he can sever the connection. When he finally finds the one responsible for tethering him, she is definitely not what he was expecting. He feels drawn to her and incredibly protective. Now the story gets really interesting!
“I’m so bloody tired of all this. For so long, he’d dreamed of finding the one holding him to life. He’d plotted his revenge, imagining what he was going to do once he finally found her. He would make her pay, make her hurt, just like he hurt. Then he’d break their connection and send her to hell. It had been all that kept him alive for the last ten years. But now that he’d met her, he couldn’t do it. No matter what he wanted to believe, she wasn’t some evil sorceress and she looked like she could be blown over by a stiff breeze.”
Ashara Hasn’t had an easy life. She’d been taken from her parents as a small child and forced into slavery. Then when she grew up she was forced to become a ‘breeder’ for the Illium (the enemy). She is a half-breed fire born dragon, but has never known what it’s like to shift into her dragon. She too feels tethered to someone, and the connection has brought her comfort. When she discovers the source of her connection, she’s a little shocked and frightened. Ashara and Cass have endured great loss and carry a lot of pain. These two embark on journey of discovery, filled with passion and pain- and we get to follow along as everything unfolds! The story is descriptive and detailed, bringing the whole story to ‘life’. Ms. Marean has wonderful world building skills, making her story quite ‘real’ and believable. I really enjoyed exploring her world and look forward to more adventures in the future.
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean was a heart pounding, feels gripping read that had me hooked from start to finish.
My first read by this author and for this series. I am in love. This has probably been one of the best dragon shifter books I have read this year! I will say that I was a little confused at first as this book is the second in this series, and picks up pretty much where the last left off. That being said, it was so well written that I was sucked in, just captured by the story. That opening, setting the stage for Casstiel, letting us not only see his pain but experience. That alone lets you know this isn't going to be your typical love story. And now I need to read the book before, so I can get more of the story.
This book is full of those dreaded feels that makes you want to either slap the MC's or hug them. Told in multi POV you get to see it from all angles and, get to see what they themselves has missed. The world building is outstanding, the info was giving at the right times, the detail was so on point I felt like I was standing with them, and watching first hand. That is what I love about reading, it takes you to all the places you didn't know you've dreamed of.
I have nothing bad to say about this book, from the easy writing and to the well builded, well rounded characters, that had more character development then I thought possible, for one book, this is a must read. That is why it gets my ultimate recommendation and my super stamp of approval. You will not be disappointment.
Casstiel was not living life. He was merely existing. Life held no joy for him. He was feeling pulled along. His tether to another that was not his mate was making his existence difficult. His mate was his all. His everything. I guess this is where I started to lose a bit of my respect and awe of Castiel. He was a father and the children were not enough for him to see past his sorrow and pain. Life existence was just to make it to the next day. He wanted to find the one that held him here instead of letting him move onward to be with his one. The holding him here was Ashara. She was so much more than I was expecting. She had a true story that should have left one just existing.
The spirit and heart of dragons/dragon shifters are well and truly alive with this author. She writes some of the most adventurously danger, heartbreaking sorrow filled, intensely passionate romances with dragons or dragon themed. She gives you that extra layer to take you there and have you not wanting to come back.
Casstiel was just one of the dragonkind that reign in the 52 realms. Read her and enjoy all that this world has to offer. This would be a great spot for you to jump in and learn more on the gifts that are so freely offered from Sheri-Lynn Marean. Then just take the time to go back and read some of the other works that she has created. You will find that you have an author you can depend on to take you to a new world/realm.
I enjoy dragon stories very much. This is book 2 in a series and I was a little lost at times trying to follow the family tree as the story is being told. I had to muddle through the lines to figure out who was who in this large family. Once I was able to work it all out, I settled in to a decent read.
The two main characters in this book are so similar yet so different. Each ignore their base needs because they think their destiny is elsewhere. The male protagonist is kind of a jerk. The female protagonist is stronger than she even realizes and it was interesting to see the two co-mingle and work out their skeletons.
This is a very visually appealing story. At times I felt myself flying through the air and looking at the ground below just like the characters. The world building is interesting and I can see how this series can continue on for many books to come.
If you are a fan of this style fiction, I would absolutely recommend this book.
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) By Sheri-Lynn Marean. Wow I just want to take a minute and say wow. This story was so beyond what I was expecting. Every now and then I like to pick a book about something I normally wouldn’t read and boy did I pick right! Both main characters are so complex and have their own uniqueness and story. Yes they eventually bring their stories together but I like how the author made sure you know both of the main characters so well. Each dealing with their own type of heartache. The author took great pride in the details and world building in this story. It grabbed my attention from page one and I simply couldn’t put it down. The story comes alive before your eyes and takes you on an incredible journey. The storyline is well written and thought out, it’s paced well. I’m excited to read more! I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.
I am once again amazed and floored by the ability of author Sheri-Lynn Marean. I thought her last book couldn't be topped, but I'm constantly pleasantly surprised. Many questions were answered while quite a few were added. As with Saberthorn, I felt such pain for Casstiel. If anything I felt more so for him. Getting to know his mate, having a family with her... only to have her torn from his side. When she voluntarily severs their bond... I thought it was an accident at first. But the fact that Cass was still held here, the way he responds to Tera's mother. I knew that was it. The man has a second bond. I feel such hope of seeing this. That there is hope for these men and their inner animals. I cannot wait for the next story... I'm hoping it belongs to Zales. Poor guy needs help soon.
I absolutely loved this story! So much pain, angst and love all wrapped into such an unbelievable story! And the kids, Casstiel's son is amazing and I'm so happy things wound up they did, but I hope and can't wait for his boy's story...hint hint...but yea if you loved all of the other dragon shifter stories of Sheri-Lynn this one won't disappoint!
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) By: Sheri-Lynn Marean 5 out of 5 stars
The story Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean is a paranormal fantasy/romance book. I found myself getting lost in the pages and turning pages to find out what happens next. Dragon shifters are one of my favorite type of characters to read about. I loved reading about Casstiel. He is a dragon shifter with many emotions. The one that is strongest is his anger. He neglects his duties and has dedicated himself to finding the one who is connected to him and not allowing him to join his soulmate in the afterlife. Casstiel is a strong dragon however he is also a stubborn one. There are also times when he feels guilt over the past. Once he finds the one he is connected to he has conflicted emotions. While he is still angry, he also doesn’t understand the feelings/attraction that he has toward her. Why does all he want to do is protect and keep her safe? I also loved the character of Ashara. She is half-human, half Fire-born. Her life has been a tough and cruel one. While she is unsure of herself she does have an inner strength to have survived all that she has. While she finds comfort with her connection to Casstiel she also has plenty of doubts running through her mind. Will Casstiel act on his attraction to Ashara? Is there any chance that these two might find happiness and love together? Read this story to find out. This book has scenes that include passion and desire. There are also heartwarming scenes. I found that the story does a wonderful job in world-building with plenty of details. I felt like I was right there with the characters. There are other characters that are also introduced in the book and I enjoyed reading about both the part that they play in the plot and also how they interact with Casstiel and Ashara. This is a well-written story that I would recommend reading. I look forward to reading more books by the author.
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean 5 out of 5 stars Castiel; Born of Lightning is the second book in the Dragonkind 52 Realms written by Sheri-Lynn Maren and it’s the first book that I have read by this author and it surely won’t be the last. The characters and amazing and the way they play off each other is great. I loved the storyline and even though this is a paranormal book I could picture my self in the story. The scenery was described perfectly and believable. As a bonded dragon shifter, Casstiel should have joined his soul mate in the afterlife when she was murdered. He did not. Fate changed the rules and tethered him to another female a druid witch. The enemy, or is she? Casstiel has lived in a haze of fury for ten long years as he searches for the source of the hated connection. Only when they finally cross paths, he’s faced with a horrifying truth and finds himself protective and fiercely attracted to her. Even worse, she makes him question what it is he really wants. Ashara is half human and half fire-born she has never soared the skies or shifted into her dragon. Instead, she’s been held captive as a breeder for the Ilyium, heart breaking more each time they take a child from her. Her only solace has been a connection to another that’s always kept her sane and warm in a cold, harsh life. When Asahra’s suddenly freed and confronted with her source of comfort; a large, sexy male who scares the hell out of her and wants her to release him, she is at a loss. As her heart awakens to a love she never dreamed possible, Ashara struggles to find her place in this new life, unsure of her desires, until a shocking discovery changes everything and may not be what anyone wants. Will Ashara cut the cord that ties her to Castiel or will she fight for him? Will Castiel recognize Ashara for what she really is to him? I really enjoyed this book and I hope to see a few of the characters in this authors next book….. Tracy
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragon kind ~ 52 Realms #2) is action-packed suspenseful romance read from author Sheri-Lynn Marean. This is my first read from this author and I can’t wait to experience what else she has to offer with her other books. For one thing, let us just appreciate how unique, beautiful & powerful this front cover is....! WOW!!!
This was such an imaginative read, that totally captivates you from the start. It's one of those reads that as your reading it, you can mentally picture everything, it makes you even more connected to this story as your reading it which then makes you feel as though you are there alongside the characters following their journey with them. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with both our characters Casstiel & Ashara with their past and their pain flowing through the pages. You are thrown twists and turns throughout that keep you wanting more, where you continue to try and figure out what will happen next but this author has created this storyline in such a way it's not easy to figure out.
I absolutely loved how much of the fantasy theme was weaved throughout this read, with different places/realms and languages throughout, all the different types of beings we learn as well of this world as we follow Casstiel and Ashara story. Each character in this story has many things that determine how they live their life now, and with the introduction of each other in their lives - will their connection grow stronger? Or is their past still holding them back from getting a HEA?
Can we also point out the secondary characters in this read, they help make this book get greater depth and help our main characters tell their stories even more.
This is a brilliant captivating and a beautifully imaginative book that should not be missed for all fans or Fantasy, Shifters and Romance.
Casstiel was a good 4 star read. This is my first read from Sheri-Lynn Marean and I was pleasantly surprised. This isn't a genre that I usually read but Casstiel and Ashara pulled me right in with their story.
Casstiel lost his mate 10 years ago and before she died she severed their bond so he couldn’t follow her. Heartbroken and not understanding why, he goes through several stages of anger. He has also discovered that he is connected to another person and until that connection is severed he won’t be able to join his mate. Who could it be and why? Casstiel gets a shock when the person he’s been searching for walks into his life in a very unexpected time.
Ashara was held captive by the enemy several years, she was treated horribly and was kept as a breeder. She had several children that were taken from her. She is also a dragon shifter but has hidden it for years. Casstiel welcomes Ashara into his home and as they get to know each other their connection grows stronger.
Can Casstiel finally get what he’s wanted for years” Or will his connection to Ashara take over?
There is so much more to this story. My emotions were all over the place. The secondary characters were great. Casstiel’s daughter eventually grew on me, she was a little testy in the beginning. I really liked how Casstiel helped Ashara shift into her dragon and work with her. Even though he was a testy hot alpha male he still had a pretty big heart also. I was happy with the ending and I look forward to reading more from these characters.
Casstiel; Born Of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean is a Dragonkind 52 Realms story. This is a great example of fantasy as it’s best. Casstiel should be dead. When his mate died he was supposed to have gone with her, bonded as they are. And yet he is still here, bound to the earth with no clue as to why his mate break the bond, leaving him behind to suffer. He spends his days tracking down Ilyium camps and destroying them. But when he comes across Ashara everything changes. He finds that she is the one he has been tethered to all this time, the one he is now drawn to, to protect. But he doesn’t want it. He wants to join his mate as he should have done all those years ago. And yet he can’t quite help the way he is feeling. He can’t stop the changes within himself either. Can he move on from the past? Or will he be forever tied to his lost love?
This is the first book I had read within this series so there was a bit of build up I was missing. However I still found the book easy to jump into. The whole story was unique and interesting. My heart bled for Casstiel when he thought he had been abandoned to a life of loneliness and pain. And when he met Ashara I hoped so much he could get past everything that had happened and find a new life. This book was well written. It was fast paced and exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will have to see what the rest of the series has to offer.
I didn’t realize that this book was part of a series. I was a little confused in the beginning but after a few pages, I was up to speed on what was going on. I actually chose the book because of the cover but I’m glad I did. The author wrote a spellbinding novel of a fantastic world filled with dragons. The more I read, the more I wanted to learn about this world.
When Casstiel’s mate dies, he should have entered the afterlife with her yet he stayed tethered to the world. He stopped living. Hell bent on destroying the one he was bound to, he searched ten years to find her. Yet when he finds her, he never expected to be attracted and protective of her. Feeling as if he is betraying his mate, war rages within him as he fights his feelings for Ashara.
Ashara is such a wonderful and complex character. Raised as a slave and breeding machine for the Ilium, she should have been a broken mess. She rose from the ashes of despair, never losing herself and is one of the strongest characters in the book. I admire her gentleness and selflessness.
This book is a dragon shifter romance yet it is so much more. It is a story of love, loss and heartache. The characters go through so much that it will have your emotions in a whirlwind. The story is detailed and descriptive, bringing the world alive. I think the book is definitely worth the read and I will be looking forward to more books from this author.
For ten long years, Casstiel has been lost in grief and hate. His mate, Maya was killed by the Illium. She severed their bond right before she died. He lives but it is not really living. He wants to join his mate in the afterlife and searches for whatever or whoever it is that tethers him to this world. He has two children but rarely interacts with them as they remind him of Maya and all he lost. He meets a woman that was a breeder for the Illium. Ashara did not have an easy life. Taken from her parents when she was eight years old, she grew up a slave then became a breeder. Ashara had four children for the Illium commander and each was taken from her. She is a half-breed fire born dragon that has never shifted. She too feels tethered to someone or something in this world. Neither Cass or Ashara want to feel the attraction between them. They have each experienced great loss. This was a journey of discovery for both Casstiel and Ashara. Casstiel must confront his feeling and reconnect with his children. Ashara has never know freedom or caring for/from another male. This was an amazing book. It takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I was absolutely enthralled and could not put the book down. Sheri Lynn Marean is a major storyteller. The characters are multi-faceted and the world they live in is so detailed. Loved it!
Of all the books in the dragon verse (that's what I call these), this one has, so far, been my favourite.
Casstiel is living, no surviving, with the loss of his bonded mate. A loss that should have killed him. And despite having two children, he wishes it did. Having neglected his parental duties to his grieving kids, he let's his own pain, grief and anger consume him. Skirting closer to darkness as he protects his people.
Darkness and anger that are ever closer even as he meets the reason that he survived. A second soul mate. One who can restore him, save him. If he would just stop fighting it and live.
This is a story about healing and redemption. Despite it being based off world and dragon shifters, it's a very human condition. How easy it is to give in and set up residence in our feelings of grief despite our own personal responsibilities. How we can sometimes cling to anything, even revenge in the hope to feel something, anything except pain. And how we can become so used to our own darkness we fight any glimpse of light and healing that we fight it.
I expected to like this book, I like all of this authors books. I didnt expect to love it asmuch as I do. Brilliant work.
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind~52 Realms) By Sheri-Lynn Marean Rated 4 stars
This is the second book in a series and I could see how there could be many more. I have not read the first book in the series. At times i did feel a little lost but once the story got going i was fine. This book is full of tons of characters. I enjoyed meeting them all. While this story is of Cass there are other mini stories going on within. They all meet at the end as the storylines get sewed up. This is great for a series because it keeps the reader wanting to learn about some of the other characters stories.
I enjoyed the camaraderie and love between Cass and his two best friends. I have to say I am a bit jealous that these guys can jump off a cliff and shift to dragon mid jump. I just wish...well...because that would be awesome! Cass’ two kids were great as they raised questions and found answers throughout the story.
This is a first time author for me. The story was engaging and kept me interested. This author knows how to put images in my mind with her writing. I could easily imagine places and things that happened. Hopefully there will be more in the series. I mean who doesn’t love a good dragon shifter?
This is a paranormal story that is book 2 in the Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms series. In the beginning of the story it was hard for me to read, as I had to learn the characters and their situations, but I guess that’s what happens when you start a series with book 2. I did end up loving this story because, well…dragon shifters are amazing! Marean makes me want to read book 1 and any other books she writes in this series!
Ashara and Casstiel are two characters who have a connection with each other but don’t understand it. Casstiel was supposed to be mated with Maya but after her death he was stuck and couldn’t follow her to the afterlife. Thanks to the connection with Ashara. Casstiel planned to severe that connection but again fate had other plans. The pain and suffering that these main two characters go through is heartbreaking and sad. This story wasn’t all sadness. Casstiel’s daughter Skye is the perfect teenager. Not quite an adult but not quite a kid anymore. Her attitude, loneliness and confusion was spot on!
There are many other characters in this book which leads me to thinking and hoping that there will be many Dragon shifters in my future! I enjoyed learning about this world and their powers. Marean made it easy for me to become a dragon shifter fan!
Casstiel; Born of Lightening: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind – 52 Realms) By Sheri-Lynn Marean 5 stars
This was an absolutely amazing read! I am quite new to this type of genre and I wasn’t sure if I would like it but oh my gosh I did! I loved every second that I read. I was hooked from the very first page until the end. The author took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. The story was full of love, loss, action, drama, heartache and so much more. The story was so well written, the pace and flow were excellent and the glossary at the beginning was a great addition to the story – it meant I wasn’t guessing the meanings of some of the words. I really liked Casstiel and the journey he went on to find his true love after she was murdered. There were some really good twists in the story too which made it even more exciting to read and I liked that I didn’t see them coming! Ashara was a good character too and I did feel for her a little. I enjoyed reading about the journey that Casstiel and Ashara went on together. I thought this story really was a great read; the author descriptive language almost brought the story to life! I absolutely recommend this story – it was a brilliant 5 star read!
A great read about loss and love. Casstiel is a dragon shifter mourning the loss of his mate ten years ago. When the enemy rescues his friend Zales, he is hostile to them before realising one of them is tied to his essence. Desperate to be rid of it and join his mate in the afterlife, he tries to convince her. But it is really the right decision? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns out I just couldn't put down. Well developed characters like Cass struggling with grief while still doing his duty or Ashtura trying to fit in and discover herself. Great cast of supporting characters like the wise Zales or caring Saber or sweet Aries as a little kid. The use of locations in chapter titles was a terrific idea so the reader could follow the story when it changed location easily and picture it A brillaint example of fantasy with different realms and languages and races of magical beings The list of names and pronounciations was a great addition. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel for example the use of colour especially in the dragons with vivid colours refs and greens and blues. Or the lightning and the sunset as something otherworldly but beautiful. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
Get ready for another fast-paced adventure on an emotional roller-coaster ride full of surprise twists & turns! After what felt like a long wait, but is always well worth it, “Casstiel, Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter” is the latest phenomenal must read from the world of Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms. Sheri-Lynn Marean seamlessly weaves each story's strands into a magical tapestry like a movie playing in your mind! ... With a fresh, new plot & well-defined characters so relatable they seem to jump off the pages, readers will be engaged from the start & turning pages like crazy, just like I did! I was brought to tears from the heart-wrenching moments, but then filled with relief when the light at the end of the tunnel appeared! This amazing novel has even stayed with me now since I finished reading it, plus left me craving more! ... I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but I highly recommend this and any of this author’s work, to adult fans of fiction! Even tho I volunteered to read this, I also preordered my own Kindle book to keep forever, and now I can’t wait for more! But, of course I will always wait for Ms. Marean’s 6 star books ;)
Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. Sheri-Lynn Marean’s Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms), is, well let’s just say “powerful” is a dramatic understatement. Read the publisher’s blurb to find out all you need to know about this one. If you find it even remotely appealing you’re bound to be blown away by the actual novel. Poor Casstiel, but as wonderfully drawn and sympathetic a character as you are you’re a shadow compared to Ashara. What she went through is numbing to consider. How she survived to be the person Casstiel eventually funds is a true wonder. Adventure, sorrow, suffering, joy, triumph, this novel has it all - and dragons (well Dragon shifters) too. Any novel is only helped by dragons in my view. Frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Omg what an amazing book! This is an extraordinary story. It is so completely well written and thought through.
This is Cas and Ashara's story. We met her in the last book she is Thira's mother. The things she has had to go through are horrendous. But she is so strong. Maybe even stronger than she knows. Now Dad has two kids Skye and Aries. Skye we also met in the last book. She is in so much pain and has so much anger. She has just lost her uncle saber or so she believes and now her dad is back and she is lost. She dose so mean things to Ashara, but I can see her pain and why she dose it but she so needs to grow up. But even as they grow closer Cas still wants to save their connection. And he still feels devoted to Maya. He was suppose to die when she did, but he lived and now he feels so lost and unsure what to do. Will he be able to figure it out before he loses her forever? Well you will have to read to find out.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
I give Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean, 4 stars.
Casstiel is living in his own personal hell. His soulmate died and went to the afterlife. By all accounts, he should have gone with her. Now he is stuck here with his agony, grief and guilt. Bit he can't, he has been tethered here by another. He has vowed to destroyed her once he finds her. But when he chances upon her, his heart has other ideas. She is not at all what he expected. In fact, she looks completely broken. What is he to do now?
This is a very interesting paranormal romance. It is unlike those I have read before and I was very happy about that. The characters are also different, but with very relatable feelings and emotions. Both of them are broken, but in different ways. They compliment each other very well. The story itself is captivating and so well thought out and written. I was drawn into their world immediately. There is also action going on, making this more than just a possible love story.
A different, interesting paranormal romance, I highly recommend this to lovers of that genre.
Grief is a very powerful emotion. When we lose someone all we ever want to do is make it stop. I sympathized with Cass on many levels of his pain. I liked that he learned to live again but for different reasons. That even though he wanted to give up something kept him there. He was a lousy father though. Not thinking of his children’s grief or their loneliness. The stories details were very vivid and beautiful. The author did a great job creating this world for us to enjoy. I could picture myself on top of mountains and flying through the air. Ashara had such a sad back story. To survive all she has suffered was amazing. I wish that a bond like they felt was a real thing. To know right away that this person is yours. That they will feel such a strong connect to you that your heart and sorrow heal. The characters had an amazing bond that ran deeper than blood relation. This story was an adventure about finding yourself. That no matter how dark you feel inside or how much pain you feel. There is always a better day ahead.
Casstiel is the second book in the DragonKind~ 52 Realms series by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This is my first novel by this author.
Nine years after his mate Maya is killed, Casstiel is still walking the Earth but filled with anger wishing to join his mate. He seems oblivion but it eludes him.
“I’m dying, yet I live without you.”
His main focus now is to destroy enemy and find whatever he is searching for.
“No, he’d not stop until they were all burned to ash and scattered to Tartaria’s four corners. Or, until he found what he was looking for.”
What Cass leases expects is the what he is searching for is not a thing but a person and this person is not only his enemy but she is also what is tying him here. She may very well be able to bring him back from himself.
I love paranormal romances with it being one of my favorite genres. I do not read dragon shifters very much but I really enjoyed this.
I love when males find love again after losing a mate and being able to move forward instead of being stuck in the depression and finding someone that help them move forward.
I will have to read more by this author as well as more dragon shifter novels.
Casstiel was a book that was almost impossible to put down. It fell right into the storyline of the previous book, Saberthorn. It felt like home getting into this story again. I deeply enjoyed my reading. Of course, the action is constant, and there are moments in the books that brought tears to my eyes. Everything felt as if it went right into its proper place in this series. If you love books that take place on another planet, in another time, with dragon shifters, then I know you will adore this one. Yes, this book could be a stand alone, but it is better to read the books in order to be able to fully grasp the world of these Dracones. Like me, I am sure you will love it. If you have a hard time knowing who is who, take notes. It will be useful to get a hand on everybody because, like the rest of the series of the Dracones, there are a lot of characters and many points of view, but then again, this is why this series is so fun. One thing is for sure, it is far from boring. So, what are you waiting for, get your copy of this series and have fun diving deep and fast into the world of Dracones!
Poor Cass, he is an angry dragon he should have followed his mate when she died but somehow he is tethered to someone else. He so wanted to get revenge but his best friend ended up mating the last person associated with his mate's death.
Ashara half human half fireborn was captured by the Ilinium(not the right word but the nae escapes me) at a young age. She is freed but finds herself trying to overcome her fears, drawn to the handsome angry Cass.
I love how Ms. Marean tied these two together bringing two souls who needed each other together though they knew it not in the beginning. A lot of things going on in this series that have brought questions that I cannot wait to find the answers to in future books. I was drawn into a time and place away from my real life of being tethered to the hospital for a week. I think people who enjoys dagon, drama, romance and a bit of adventure will also be drawn into and entertained by this story.
I voluntarily chose to read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this opinion.
Wow Casstiel: Born of Lighting is awesome. This is the second book in the series and hopefully be many more to come. Sheri-Lynn Marean has developed well developed characters and worlds. This story is told from many points of views and flows very well. This also gave me more insight to what is happening in the story. Sheri-Lynn Marean wants to be crystal clear about her characters that she made a glossary to make sure that her readers are aware from the beginning. This is the story of Casstiel and his life. He lost the love of his life and should have been reunited in the afterlife. He doesn’t understand what is happening and more importantly why it is happening. He has gone into a deep depression which has everyone worried. Then we met Ashara has had a hard life. She was taken into slavery and then became a “breeder” for those who enslaved her. She is half-breed dragon and has never shifted into a dragon. What will happen when Ashara and Casstiel meet? That is one of many questions that should be answered.
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean Four Stars
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter is a book two from the world of Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This paranormal dragon shifter story is the first book I have read by Ms. Merean, but definitely won’t be the last. This story was full of magic, wonderful characters and emotions that will keep you reading well into the night (and believe me it is worth the loss of sleep). This is the story of Casstiel and Ashara. Casstiel is a Dragon Shifter who lost his mate, but is not able to follow her into the ever after because some kind of tether is holding him back. Ashara is held almost captive to be a baby maker, but never gets to raise her children. She is holding on to the only thing in life that keeps her life worth living, the invisible bound she has with Casstiel. If you like paranormal this is definitely going to be a great choice for you. I can’t wait to go back and read the first book in this series.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. It is about Casstiel and Ashara. And how even though they are completely different fate has destined them to be together. 10 years ago Casstiel’s original fated mate died and that should’ve been it. He should’ve died with her. But fate had another plan. She gave him another mate but it is not someone he wants. He hated her before even meeting her. And honestly that made for an awkward start. Ashara has had a horrible life that ended her up in slavery. She was used as a breeder for the enemy and suffered through her everyday life. She learns that fate has tied her to someone and that makes her hopeful, but when she meets him she should’ve known that her feelings are going to turn into anything but hopeful. I enjoyed this book and I think that the author did a lot of good world building and set it up nice for more books to come. I would recommend this to a friend. Review by Anastasia D.
