A captured princess just wants a good night’s sleep! Shhh…
Kidnapped by the Demon King and imprisoned in his castle, Princess Syalis is…bored.
Accompanied by an entourage of demon guards, Princess Syalis takes a field trip to the human world to acquire a special pillow. Then she receives several invitations from her demon captors: first, to replace the cooks who have succumbed to heat exhaustion in the Demon Castle kitchen (somebody needs to make Quilladillo’s Monster Bird Egg Custard); second, to attend a pajama party (despite being woefully ignorant of the concept); and third, to design a new area for the hero to explore (which turns out to be the exact opposite of what the demons commissioned).
Still cute but not the best volume of the series. The travel to the human realm with the demons was fun. Some of the popcorn flavours, like chicken curry popcorn, sounds disgusting. Found it amusing that demons dress as humans for halloween.
This was a pretty good installment. Everyone realized that Daw-what's-his-name was Dawner thought a funny dream, our main cast visited the human world, and Syalis had a sleepover. I thought that this was a funny volume, and that the art has continued to be consistently high quality. I'd definitely recommend the series, and will read the next volume in a month or two. 3.5 stars.
I love this series (though I do wish they would decide between calling the princess Sya Lis and Syalis) it is fun and funny. I love the princess and how she deals with being a captive and that when the demons are faced with the princess they are confused and fall for whatever the princess wants them to do most of the time. I also feel slightly sorry for the demons for how the princess treats them sometimes. I like the storyline we have been faced with in this volume and the last where we have started to see more of the hero's (Dawner) quest and progression to rescuing the princess and also the connection between the princess and Dawner. It's a great series and I really like the illustrations which are generally simple enough but also include little details you might only spot if examining closely.
I’ve loved each and every volume before and this ones no exception but it might be a definite new favorite. I couldn’t stop laughing through most of it and am eager to pick up more of the series
I still adore this series. Volume six is, as expected, full of shenanigans, heartwarming moments, humor, and (of course) teddy demons. I can’t wait to read more of this series!
In this volume, Syalis goes on a mission for an as seen on tv pillow, forcing the demons to escort her to the human world in order to get it. Then she gets invited to a sleepover, but she doesn't know what a girl sleepover entails. And then the demons discover that Syalis is having trouble sleeping—that's why she needs so much sleep all the time—and discover who is doing this to her. The venture into the human world was interesting. It's funny when the demons try to reinforce the fact that she's their hostage, because not only are they doing everything they can to appease her, she's more hostile to them and yet also doesn't seem to want to leave. When we learn more about the hero coming to save her, it becomes clear why that might be. I like when we find out more about the actual characters. Learning more of Syalis' history, the bits we see of the hero and his progress, and the personality and background of the Demon King. Those are plots I enjoy, though I do appreciate that more of these single-chapter plots are starting to extend. And meeting Bussy was fun, too.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
I cannot express to you guys just how much I am enjoying this series. It is just so much fun. I love the situations that all our characters get themselves into whether it be the fault of the princess or the daemons. I also love how well-balanced the introduction of new characters is with the development of our staple cast members. I should also note how there appears to be a strengthening of continuity with an overarching story being developed through these books. I'm curious to see where that is going. I can't wait till I get my hands on the next volume.
Reread: The princess really be out here fulling the shipper's fires
