God Won't Help: Affirmations of the Reluctant God

Rate this book
A chance meeting with a former US Army Special Forces officer AKA Candyman in war-torn Kabul sets Shiv, a disillusioned civil engineer, from the comforts of Mumbai on a journey to find his inner peace.

The craggy peaks and troughs of the Karakoram Range echo the ups and downs of Shiv's life as he seeks answers to questions of life, destiny and happiness. In a way, Shiv's travails are no different from that of millions of others seeking answers to the apparent unfairness in life's distribution of bounties and miseries.

Keeping him company in this quest is Nasir, a dour-faced Pashtun, who struggles with his own torments as he despairs at the caprices of fate.

But what is a former US army officer doing amidst the ruins of Kabul living in a tent house, and why does the American go by the moniker "Candyman"? The answer to this innocuous question hides in itself the purpose of life we seek and how and why happiness eludes most, despite religion, religious structures, gods and godmen and most important of all... why God won't help! Or will He?

‘God won’t help-Affirmations of the reluctant God by Rajiv Grover’ catchy and Intriguing name, isn’t it? It peaks your interest, the moment you lay your eyes on it. Somewhere at some point, you have said to yourself that God won’t help… he never does, heartbreaking I know. But after reading this book, you are forced to reanalyze the phrase ‘God won’t Help’ with a whole new perspective.

Publication Date: June 21st, 2018

Publisher: Notion Press

Page Count: 118 pages

Opening Sentence: “Adversity never comes alone”, said the Candyman looking at Nasir whilst pouring vodka into a glass for me.

The book ‘God won’t help’ is set in Kabul. Divided into Four chapters, the book revolves around the conversation between Shiv, a Civil Engineer, who is depressed and lonely. Nasir a Pashtun and Shiv’s only friend and, The Candyman – Former US Army Special Officer.

A real eye-opener, the book answers our many questions that we have all asked at some point in our life, Why isn’t God helping us? Why is he blind eyed to our problems? and many such questions. It isn’t that Author is denying God’s existence. But what the Author is trying to say to us is that knowingly or unknowingly, we heavily rely on God for every little problem. But it’s us who has to solve our own problem. And it’s us who has to right our wrong, only then the path ahead will become easy. And don’t forget the famous saying “Karma’s a bitch, it strikes back”.
The narration is good, but a wee bit dragging at some places. Hardly 106 pages long, the book is an easy read.

Quote: Fear was a currency that led only to Bankruptcy.

Recommendation!>
If you are a Non-Fiction lover then you should definitely read it. The book kind of changes your perspective in a good way. A good book overall.

God won’t help”, seems like a heartbreaking phrase for any god fearing devotee. It also puts a question mark on the multi billion dollar
godmen industry who provides the god’s blessing to solve all the problems. The title "God Won't Help" is intriguing and you immediately want to open the book to know how come god won't come to help.

By the time you finish the book, the author will convincingly convince you that the god won't even listen to your prayers forget about coming
to help or sending some relief. You should read the book in order to know it. It is a crisp and easy read with no frills and build-ups.

Mind you that the author doesn't deny the existence of God. He believes in the theory of souls, the afterlife, before life, hell and heaven, that people have to pay for their misdeeds and will be rewarded accordingly. Only when the time is not known.

It is the rules of the Universe and the laws of karma which decides whether you will receive help or not. So stop hoping against the hope
that God will help you and pull up your socks to help yourself and start getting your karma right.

IF I COULD REVIEW IT IN A SINGLE LINE:

Worthy of a lifetime collectible status

THE REVIEW:

Fear of God instills only a lack of faith in self. Believe in a power above human kind, believe in an eternal being supreme to us but do not let that belief cripple you. There is a story of how a very desolate and angry at God man was pelted by a stone and starting shouting at Him for not blocking it. He doesn't see the hundreds that He does block because he is too blind from the notion that God isn't bothered to help him.

Religion should make you strong, not weaken you with fear. The mere fact that God and prayer can't help you from your Karma and prayer doesn't help put away the bad you did. The author has also cited examples of various legends like Jim Carrey, Oprah Winfrey. Of their struggle and tryst against destiny.

The author points out that prayer isn't going to help you, you are. The entirety of the book lies in the fact that you help yourself, much like the frog who fell into milk and churned his way out.

I have to admit to title of the book is very catchy. I am going to keep it in my forever collection. It holds true to it's genre and does help you get through a difficult time.

The concept of God and whether or not God helps us is a matter of individual belief and faith. Some people believe that God is always there to help them, while others do not believe in the existence of God at all. Some people also believe that God helps us in ways that are not always immediately apparent or that God helps us through other people or circumstances.

GOD Won't HELP is the story of Shiv, a man who is away from home, working a job in Afghanistan, a war-torn country that has seen destruction, violence, and instability as a result of armed conflict or war. Shiv's motivation and overall well-being suffer as a result of his absence from home and boring job, prompting him to seek self-discovery and a willingness to find happiness.

Nasir, Shiv's best friend, introduces him to a former US Army special forces officer known as the Candyman. When the question of whether praying to God truly solves our problem arises, the story takes an interesting turn. Does GOD listen to our prayers? Is the existence of GOD real or it's just the figment of our imagination?

Regardless of one's belief about the role of GOD, the book defintely teaches why is it important to take action and work towards achieving goals for solving problems and overcoming challenges. Whatever prayer or joining hands you do, it is ultimately up to the individual to take responsibility for their own lives and make the necessary changes to achieve their desired outcome.

Firstly! Let me tell you that I was intrigued by the Title of the book.

The Book Consists of only Four Chapters each chapter explains every concept in detail.

The Author is being practical and reasonable throughout the concepts he is conveying to his readers.

“The Law of Karma”, kept me glued the pages. The way its explained helped me gain some insight into the issues I personally dealt with. Understanding how law of karma works and affects us all in the long run.

My Favorite Quote – “The Law of karma is absolute just & fair. It ensures that each and every action of ours has a result of the same intensity and proportion.”

The Book deals with concepts of Ego, Law of Karma. The Elevation of soul – Nirvana, Salvation, Moksha!

Jim also known as Candy man who narrates his experiences to Nasir wherein he shares his experiences, thoughts and opinions on various aspects of life. The author has dabbled the concepts that we deal with every day. It made me think about many things and realize that Karma plays an key role in our life.

I would say that the Practical approach by Rajiv Grover has dedicated to the book makes it easy to read and interpret the meaning easily. As a reader you connect with the content of the book easily and can pin point our journey, mistakes and how you can improve it.

I was really going tough time and in between i got a book "GOD WON'T HELP" i was just reading title again and again and after receiving copy i just started book with a mind set that its can be a jyst story like other novels but to my surprise this is not only a book with a story but it helps in healing, inner healing! I believe in god and yes if your deeds are bad even God won't help.
Book is motivational and somewhere emotional to. I was too much involved in book tgat i was assuming myself in many places. Story has Shiv and Jim as main protagonist but few side characters are also there. While reading i geled up my self with the conversation between Shiv and Jim and to my reach I found all my answers that i always seeked for. Four chapters can really change your way of thinking. Each chapter has answers to the things that happens around and we feel disappointed and blame god. Karma has its own way of replying and life is all about your karma that you do. As a good say as you saw so shall you reap! Best ever book of this month read. Im pkeased thyself is happy.
Language is lucid, cover can be more creative. Title is perfect. Quality of papers and font of book is fine.
Recommended to all the seerkers and definitely this is a book dedicated to THE SEEKERS.
Ps. I received this book from from writersmelon with an exchange of an honest review. Thnkew for giving me an opportunity.

GOD Won't Help is such a wonderful story of realisation of oneself.
The story is amazingly narrated by the author, it is surely a book to read if you are going through a rough patch in life or facing any difficulties.
The protagonist Shiv is in search of his inner peace and he walks out to seek answers to questions of life, destiny and happiness.
There is very interesting plot here after with some really interesting characters.
The book will help you explore different aspects of life, and how and when God helps one person or the person help themselves.
Other then that the language is good with proper grammar and usage of dialouges.
The cover of the book could have been much better and more appealing.
Characters were good along with plot.
