About the author

Heidi St John is a mother, a grandmother, and a wife of 25 years. She is a popular conference speaker, radio personality, author and blogger whose message of returning to God’s Word and embracing our ministry as mothers has resonated with several hundred thousand followers in social media, through books, and radio appearances. Her refreshingly transparent, vulnerable style allows her readers to identify with her and invites them to join as fellow pilgrims on a journey rather than idolizing the author as someone who has “arrived”. Her calendar regularly has her speaking across the United States over twenty times in front of audiences as large as 20,000. Heidi lives in Battle Ground, Washington with her husband and five of their seven children ranging from age kindergarten to adulthood. Not only is Bible Promises for Moms filled with Bible verses to encourage you in every situation from abandonment all the way to yearning, it is interspersed with words of wisdom from Heidi herself. Heidi has a way of encouraging with truth from the perspective of a mom and grandma that has been through it herself. She is real; she is honest; she turns you back to the truth in God’s Word at every corner. I have been blessed to participate in her last 3 book launches. Bible Promises for Moms does not disappoint. It delivers your daily dose of biblical truth. At just $2.99, it is a steal and a book you should buy for every woman in your life that could use a shot in the arm of encouragement each day - that means all of them.

This book was a gift, or I’d probably not have read it. My guard is up with Heidi St. John. From my research so far, her theology may be okay, but I can’t find a lot of info. Her website has no statement of faith. However, because she associates with at least one false teacher that I know of and displays an uncomfortable amount of anger in the few videos I have seen, I’m sticking with more theologically-sound authors when I read Christian books. 👍🏻

Over the past 11 years of homeschooling, I have become fairly familiar with many of the homeschooling speakers and their writings. I discovered Heidi St. John, The Busy Mom, back when I was only a couple of years into my homeschool journey. Her books The Busy Homeschool Mom's Guide to Romance and Guide to Daylight helped me a lot as I struggled to keep a balance of being a wife to my husband, mom and also the teacher for my children.
Since then, I've followed her blog, participated in her scripture writing challenges and done many of her Bible Studies. Last year I was able to participate on the launch team for two of her books, Becoming MomStrong and Prayers for the Battlefield. They came at a time where I was really struggling with my faith, teaching my kids and even struggling in my marriage. We had a stressful family situation that was really throwing all it's best punches at me. These 2 resources, as well as the scriptures that were laid out in them, helped me so much.
Last August, I saw that she had another new book titled Bible Promises for Moms coming out. I pre-ordered it cause it was a great deal and I knew I wanted to get my hands on it.
So I want to share with you some of my favorite things! First of all, this book is topical! So whether you're struggling with anger, forgiveness, guidance, parenting or any of the 70+ topics, she gathered her favorite Scriptures to help you through them. I found that the verses she chose were quite helpful when it came to those challenges. I hope you will find this book a valuable tool as I did. It's a great book to keep with you in your purse or even diaper bag if you have a little one.

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with my sister Rhonda Wolf. All opinions are my own. Bible Promises For Moms by Heidi St John. Last summer we did the Bible Study Mom Strong and I recommend every mom read it no matter what stage of motherhood you are in I promise it will apply to you. This little pocket book is filled with prayers for those moments when as a Mom you just need to hear what God is trying to say to you. It is alphabetized by subject and an easy reference to place a prayer exactly when and where you need to hear or say it. Sometimes life is overwhelming and patience isn't a virtue you reach alone. Take ten minutes and ask for help it makes all the difference in the world. This book is a wonderful reminder that God is in the corner of Moms every step of the way through motherhood, even when it seems to hard to handle. A dear friend of mine gifted this small devotional book to me when I was very newly postpartum. Over the last four months now I have been slowly soaking in the scriptures, and truly enjoying all the heartfelt personal stories and prayers from the author. I don’t often rate devotional books, but I would recommend this book for any busy mama!

I loved how this book was formatted. It’s split into categories like most devotional books are (example: Sleepless Nights: *gives a personal story from the author about this topic, then finishes with scriptures*), but I appreciated how the categories in this book were all surrounding the challenges and beauty of motherhood.

I’m planning to hold onto this book for a long time and use it almost as a sort of guide throughout my parenting journey. There’s so much scripture and wisdom poured over these pages.

This is a small little book with Bible verses for moms for different situations and emotions. I did find it encouraging to read and it reminds you to hold God’s truth no matter what you are going through. I did also enjoy the sections where the author writes a mini devotional. However, there are a lot of repeated verses and a lot of parts where it’s just the verses on their own (when I think a small devotional or description would be more helpful), so it feels like alternatively you could just Google “verses about anxiety” and get a similar result.

Insightful redemption

Parenting can be an awfully hard task. I know I'm guilty of throwing in the towel and questioning why God chose me.

This book gives the hope, healing, and words of God throwing the towel back and lifting you in his hands. His gentle voice letting you know that you can do this and you are not alone.

I love this little book. It is mostly comprised of Bible verses relating to a plethora of different topics (I.e. guilt, worry, yearning, etc). The author also includes notes and personal testimonies along the way. Though the verses are not in the version I would usually read, I found this to be a good reference point and devotional supplement.

I’m not sure if I expected more to relate to or more guidance than just given the same Bible verses over and over again. It also wasn’t verses from the NIV so not sure what version of the Bible was used.

This tiny book holds so much. You can choose what you need in that day (ex: sleepless nights, grief, integrity) or you can work straight through. Easily done in a few minutes each morning, a great way to create habits. Highly recommend for any mom (or really anyone!).

Amazing... I wasn't expecting the alphabetical layout but as time went on I preferred it. it allowed me to know exactly where to go back if I needed a refresher. This is not just a one read book you can turn to it when certain trials hit to help remind you of how much Heavenly Father and His son loves us.
